Between her desperate dive and the improbable alignment of the wind catching her heavy coat, the hilt missed her skull by a hair's breadth. It slammed instead into the dense, paper-packed satchel still slung over her shoulder with a muffled thud. The impact jarred her entire frame, spinning her into the dirt. She scrambled backward on her hands and knees, her posture still urgent and forward-leaning even in retreat. Her fingers flew to the base of her neck, pressing hard against the hidden Copper spike. She shunted the raw terror of the impact and the specific sensory details of his Bronze burn into the metal storage, forcing her mind to stay analytical. "Wait! "You’re using a Seeker's burn for a physical assault—that’s a fascinatingly inefficient use of resources unless you're trying to track my internal rhythm! Are you with the group from the Basin? Your footwork suggests military training, but your choice of a hilt-strike implies you need me conscious for questioning—which is wonderful, because I have at least forty-two questions for you!" She stared at him, hazel eyes wide and darting, soaking in the scuff marks on his boots. She was shaking, her senses ringing from the Tin-flare, but she didn't run. Instead, she leaned toward her attacker, absolutely desperate to hear his response.

Thankfully, after catching his glance, the Thaylen seemed to stumble backward in shock, before eventually moving on. Their desperation was amusing to Ebon. He didn’t miss the person speaking to seemingly thin air - at least one spren. Eventually, he turned his attention back TJ the Windrunner. ”I’m alright! Don’t worry about me!” He shouted across the distance, hoping the boy wouldn’t come closer and see the marks of fighting - the blood, both his and his foes’ - on his body. For a second, time froze as he awaited a response. Then the freeze was broken by yet another exclamation. Storming rusts. Ebon had half a mind to scream back and correct the newcomer, but as he looked at him, his face froze. To an outsider, the glitch - physical and in his rhythm - was barely perceptible. He recovered quickly, but his thoughts spun. This was him. The figure who had disappeared minutes ago. Ebon chose to ignore him for now, and await the Radiant’s response. For once, he regretted not alerting Perses of his operation. "Are you sure?" Kai took a step closer, "Do you need Voidlight?" He whipped around as Cayansa screamed, looking over at her, as another person popped into existence a few yards away. "Who are you!?" radiant. he thought, from shadesmar. "Voidbringer!" the new man shouted. He didn't appear to be rosharian, thought he was the right height. So maybe not radiant. Kai winced at the word, it didn't go over too well sometimes, even on his homeworld it was frowned upon, considering his people were the actual voidbringers. He noticed the halt in rhythm for a split-second and winced again. Great. The last thing they needed right now was to make more enemies. ____ @Ink and Embers "Wait! Don't worry!" Skye put a hand on Cayansa's shoulder, "Not all fused are evil here. He might be fine, just another victim like the others. Let Kai handle it." ____ @KaladinsSenseOfHumourSpren "Starseeker? Are you Nalthian?" Kai stood between Starseeker and the Fused, hoping to prevent Starseeker from aggravating the Fused further.

Not all Fused are evil here," Skye said, resting a light hand on Cayansa's shoulder. "He might be fine, just another victim like the others. Let Kai handle it." Cayansa nodded, somewhat relieved. "Okay." "My name is Starseeker," said the maybe-Radiant in violet robes. "I just got here." Starseeker? That certainly wasn't a name from a culture Cayansa recognised. Is it a sprenish kind of name? they asked Reyx. I don't think so, Reyx replied, But I think there's a spren near them, half-hidden. Soulcaster and Shadesmar... Elsecaller? They're uncommon. Perhaps. Be careful. "Starseeker? Are you Nalthian?" Skye said, moving between the Fused and Starseeker, as if a peacemaker between the two. Well, Starseeker had just shouted about Voidbringers. That was a fairly quick way to upset a lot of people nowadays. Where were Nalthians from, anyway? Reyx glimmered thoughtfully. "Uh... should I warn him about the Voidbringer fiasco?" "That might be a good idea," Cayansa agreed, finally making their way to the edge of the crater. A young man was sitting there, his leg bent at an awkward angle beneath him. "Are you alright?" Cayansa asked. "Well, no. Stupid question, really. I don't suppose you know anything about the explosion?" They knelt down and touched the healing fabrial to the man's wrist as he shook his head. "Oh well." There was a brief flash of Light and a faint snapping sound as the man's bones weaved themselves back together. "Excellent, it worked! Have a nice day. Or as good a one as possible, given the explosion." They tweaked some of the wires in the fabrial to minimise Light loss and continued to walk around the edge of the crater, squinting into the middle to see what was happening. Meanwhile, Reyx had flown over to Starseeker. "Hello. Um. Nice to meet you," they began, before realising they were still hidden. Appearing properly, they repeated themself, then continued. "You might want to avoid shouting about Voidbringers. It's a rather sensitive topic. Sorry." They shimmered apologetically. @KnightSkye Reforged @KaladinsSenseOfHumourSpren @Hoid Slayer

Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Crater Ebon opened his mouth again, then hesitated. His instincts saw this man as an enemy - but he didn’t have to be. The other Radiant he had come with was going around helping people - one of which, Ebon noted quietly, appeared to be a member of the Crimson Breath he hadn’t killed. That was not a problem he could address now, however; what mattered was that they genuinely seemed to be trying to help. And they didn’t seem to perceive Ebon as a foe. He could use that. There was the problem of the bloody dagger, however. But perhaps… he could talk his way out of this. Ebon looked at his bruises, gunshot wounds, and seared feet. Then he looked back at the Windrunner, now attuning the Rhythm of Satisfaction, and called out. “Some voidlight would certainly be nice!” Hiding his misgivings, Ebon began to approach the stranger. 1

But he was prepared. “I didn’t do this. I followed a suspicious group of people here, and they ambushed me. I fought off most of them, but they set off the bomb. I only survived because I Jumped just in time to avoid the detonation. No one knows I’m here.” Foolish, foolish. Exhaustion finally setting in, Ebon clumsily settled down on a piece of rubble by the Windrunner. He could feel spikes of pain running up his legs as he did so, alongside the heat burning the flesh of his back and haunches. It was agony, but he was used to agony. There was something paradoxically comforting about the pain. And voidlight could fix it all, anyway. ”I’m Ebon, by the way.” He didn’t look at the Radiant, heart racing, facing the crater instead. He was exposed. Bare. A single strike could end him. But for some reason, he chose to trust this enemy. He had left Odium behind. Left all that behind. It was time to see if he could believe it. The anticipation hurt more than the pain anyway. 1

Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Crater “So Perses didn’t send you to do some dirty work?” The irony almost made Ebon laugh. No, Perses didn’t send him to do some dirty work. He had snuck away from Perses to do his own dirty work. Ebon attuned the Rhythm of Relief. He looked at Kai’s hand, then carefully, almost fighting his own muscles, extended his own and grabbed it with the least strength possible. Ebon looked down at his feet. They were red. But there was something that felt unnatural about wearing a Radiant’s plate. ”I’m alright. Find someone who needs it more. I’ll heal with voidlight anyways, and I have a lot of experience handling pain.” He didn’t intent for that last part to come off as aggressive as it did. For a while, he sat there in the silence. Then, without fully knowing why, he spoke again. ”They’re called the Crimson Breath. The ones who set off the bomb. I… I didn’t know they could do that.” He bowed his head.

Kaiden, New Hallandren, Crater Kai felt the restraint in Ebon's grip, and heard the intentional change of rhythm. This Fused was certainly trying to get along with people. Not seeking out new enemies. ”I’m alright. Find someone who needs it more. I’ll heal with voidlight anyways, and I have a lot of experience handling pain.” that last part sounded angry, but not provocative. Again, not like he wanted to fight. "I bet you do." Kai's face softened. "It sounds from what I've heard that the Fused went through just as much torture as the Heralds. I regret that." They silence a minute, before Ebon spoke again. ”They’re called the Crimson Breath. The ones who set off the bomb. I… I didn’t know they could do that.” He bowed his head. He regretted this, Kai thought. This explosion was not part of any plan that people here knew about. Definitely not Ebon's. "What did they do?" Kai asked. "The Crimson Breath. Why were you hunting them down?"
