TacoBellChoutaMeal Posted September 10, 2025 Posted September 10, 2025 Where do we think it is? The Rosharan system, or do we think it's was just on a planet that Odium conquered? Regardless, it's probably toast now, wherever it is. Skybreakers didn't learn their lesson and likely broke the sky a second time. Any places it could be, couldn't be?
Erremin Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 It sounds like the kind of linguistic distortion that happens across planets with different phonemes, and that it's probably Alethkar. I can imagine the Fused that now rule Alethkar (and most of Roshar) renaming it into a name they're more familiar with, such as the Silver Kingdom Alethela.
lacrossedeamon Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 Yeah but we already have the Fused name for Alethkar, Avendla.
Jult Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 Just a shot in the dark, but during WaT Dalinar had visions of "himself" (probably the Blackthorn copy that Taravangian retrieved from the Spiritual Realm) in Black Shardplate conquering a city with "high walls" and a "strange pale moon". He also had one of those weird Shardguns in the vision. Sel has a pale moon (WoB) and Elantris has high walls. So, it sounds like Roshar may be invading Sel at some point (we do have two Elantris sequels coming out eventually). Could Aheleha be on Sel? Potentially even just a new name for Elantris after it was conquered by Roshar? 1

I think that would lead to a weird situation with Stormlight 6-10, and spoilers for that. Unless Retributions conquests aren't the point of the plot there, but either happening before that (which I doubt) or concurrently. I can see the Elantris sequels maybe ending with a hint that Retribution attacks? Where that's the plot of Stormlight afterwards? But who knows

I don't think it will come up in Elantris 2 at all. Because Elantris 2 was supposedly only going to be a decade or so after Elantris 1. But Elantris 3 was planned to be "hundreds of years later". I'm speaking in the past tense because Brandon has suggested he will be revising both of those things. WoBs: Spoiler Quote Argent We've always understood Elantris to be one of the earliest books in the Cosmere, but we see Kaise as Codenames in The Lost Metal, one of the latest books. Has the timeline contracted significantly, or are we just looking at the typical Shadesmar time dilation tricks? Brandon Sanderson So, here's thing, Argent. I'm not going to be able to give you strict timelines until I write Elantris 2 and 3. So my plan, originally, which might have been a bad plan, was Elantris 2 to take place some ten or fifteen years after Elantris 1. Maybe a little less than that. But years have passed. It was called Dakhor, in my notes. And then for 3 to be hundreds of years later. I don't know if that's the right move anymore, and if 3 isn't hundreds of years later, then where we slot Elantris in is going to change because of where I need certain characters to be in some of these things, and certain things to happen. We are getting really close to where this is going to be nailed down and locked down, and I'll get locked down. Probably right when we start Era 3 is when all of this is just gonna start... I've promised you guys a timeline. Once we've released that, we don't want to retcon it, does that make sense? So that's why we're waiting to release it. But Kaise does have some time dilation going on, though. Though I say her name wrong because I'm not from Sel. But yeah, she has time dilation going on, she is... yeah. More time has passed than the ten or so years that... she's like what, 7 in Elantris? And she's like young 20s now, visibly, the age that she appears. I believe, something like that. So yeah, there you go. There's some information for you on that. I'm playing loose and free with this until I really get down to writing these. My loose plan is still write Mistborn Era 3 book 1, Elantris 2, Era 3 book 2, Elantris 3, Era 3 book 3. Five years of writing there that I can't even really think about until I've got Stormlight 5 in Tor's hands, if not your hands. YouTube Spoiler Stream 5 (Dec. 2, 2022) Quote thedoctor692 [theory about time dilation with regards to Selish characters in The Lost Metal] Peter Ahlstrom Personally I think that Brandon is just moving Elantris in the timeline General Reddit 2022 (Nov. 6, 2022) So maybe Elantris 3 would fall around the right time for Retribution to launch an attack? I think Sel has enough going on to fill 3 books on its own easily, so if there is a Rosharan attack, I'd probably expect it to be something like Elantris 3's epilogue scene.
+Oltux72 he/him Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 It might just be some colonial world with an Alethi name they clashed about. That is likely precisely because the sky burned. Destroying a colonial world you are about to lose is the rational choice. It lowers the incentive to go for your other colonies. In addition it is a very retributive thing to do. 1
