  1. Does a person have to actively be *using* the metal they're burning to become a savant? Could I just keep my steel on all the time and not push on anything? If that's the case, this works for the majority of the metals. -Iron/Steel -Zinc/Brass -Chromium/Nicrosil -Duralumin (if you could get enough) -The rest of the ones are like a toggle switch every time you burn them. But is it the constant burning or the constant *using* of the powers that does? Sazed says that a lot of Seekers become Savants without realizing it, but that's one of the metals that the burning turns the power on and turns it off. Same thing with Tin, which is what we see in Spook and Pewter which is what we see in that one Koloss blooded in Alloy. Is it even possible to become a steel-savant or would you have to be CONSTANTLY pushing on things?
  2. “Araki Forgot”
  3. She’s built different.
  4. Would this work for all of the “passive” metals? Hypothetically, could a Mistborn just leave their duralumin on all the time while not burning anything else? Would this make duralumin even more powerful when they combined it with something else? What would Duralumin+a savant metal get you? Would that just kill you?
  5. I did, and I misspoke. Sorry. There’s zero way Taravangian doesn’t have El keeping tabs on that thing. If it’s that important you can’t keep something like that unguarded. Isharr was able to use Odium’s power to great effect, and you don’t want anyone else getting a hold onto that.
  6. I bet someone has asked this before, but I personally don't know if anyone has. With the state of Roshar post-WaT, Lift is one of, if not the most important people on the planet. If Vasher has taken an interest in training her, it's probably safe to assume that she'll be exponentially more powerful as an adult. If Lift had a full belly and was able to wield Nightblood (who had access to all of the surges) would she be able to beat Rashek with a full set of metalminds? Would it even be close? I think it could honestly go either way.
  7. Adolin listens to the goofiest music you know in the most earnest way possible. His playlist is Linkin Park, Eminem, Imagine Dragons, Foo Fighters (but not Nirvana), Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Breaking Benjamin, and whatever Shallan tried to show him that month. That's what I want out of a storm light show. An Adolin motif that plays during big climatic moments for his character or whenever he enters the scene. Something that conveys "high school jock that deserves his popularity and you kinda hate him for it but he's also such a great guy that you can't help but love him." I don't know what that sounds like. Adolin's the type of guy to get on the aux and say "here comes a weird one" and then play "Float On" by Modest Mouse. Lift listens to Baby Shark and the Gummy Bear album. And Crazy Frog. I do not want to hear any of that nonsense any time Lift comes on screen, though.
  8. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/545/#e16950 new WoB. We now know that the Kandra on Roshar is human. It has to be Dalinar’s weirdly notable bodyguard in Oathbringer, right? The one Brandon Rafos all questions for? Or could it be 16 in lasting integrity? What do you think?
  9. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/545/#e16947 man, can someone fill me in on this sort of theory? Am I missing something? Is this just a “if marasi was incredibly invested could she have used her allomancy to wait things out into the future?” Is that what this wob is asking? I don’t think she would have any reason to do that. She’s in love and wants to change things in the Basin through politics. Spook, on the other hand…
  10. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/546/#e16944 this has gotta be Adolin, right? Who else could it have been? Szeth?
  11. Lift is my least favorite of the “Brandon’s funny Character” characters. I actually do like Wayne, even though he is very decisive, and everybody likes LightSong. Lopen is good too. But to paraphrase someone else on these forums (I forgot who) Lift is great when she has other people to play off of (like Dalinar in the few scenes they share together) but annoying when it’s only her and Windyl. I don’t hate Windyl. But he’s almost too serious to the point where he’s comically serious. Lift’s initial WoR interlude was a drag for me, and I was really frustrated when Brandon wrote that bit in where Windyl tries to explain what Investiture is and Lift keeps telling him to shut up. That felt like a “storm you, audience, squirm a little while longer under the weight of the secrets” thing. I dreaded having to listen through Edgedancer. But Lift really only got better for me as time went by. The Lift interlude in RoW sold me on the character. When she was finally actually vulnerable and not just the arrogant child I really started to come around to her. I’m looking forward to the Lift flashback sequences in book 6.
  12. I’m pretty sure you’re right. But I was wondering if there was something I wouldn’t have thought of, a way to get an unkeyed one in a really convoluted way. But I don’t think there is.
  13. I wish the shard cast cast was real and not just the voices in my head
  14. i didn’t consider unsealed metalminds. You might be onto something.
  15. Title. With the way that unsealed metalminds work, I don’t think anyone could ever tap someone else’s Aluminum metal mind. But, if I stored a bunch of Identity in a big piece of aluminum, then you spiked me and took that power, what would happen when you tapped my metal mind? Would you be like me for a bit? Pick up my mannerisms? Or would you BE me? If you are filling a metal mind while tapping the TacoBellChoutaMeal metal mind would you BE me then? (Are there any wobs on this?)
  16. I don’t care if they don’t stack at all, Wakefulness is an insane ability to tap in a metal mind. You know how much stuff I could get done if I never had to sleep and could just stop time whenever I want? Probably the same amount of stuff I get done now, BUT I COULD PROCRASTINATE EVEN MORE. Y’all are sleeping on Bronze
  17. The problems with this: How are you gonna find Atium Ferrings? Just gonna test random people, or what? And how are you gonna *keep them quiet* about it after the fact? Are you gonna kill them? Does Harmony know who’s an Atium Ferring and who’s not? Maybe. But you’re gonna have to convince that guy, and even if you do that, you’ll have to keep him quiet. What Marsh does seems like very secret work, and his identity shouldn’t be out there. And then, even if you find a willing donor who will accept an identity spike, is that guy gonna just clock into work next day as an old man? There’s no way, dude. People would talk. Are you just gonna keep killing people overtime to keep one guy alive? Just get him more atium.
  18. As of Wind and Truth, Venli is genuinely the most important Radiant and the best bet that the Radiants have at getting access to any Stormlight. I don’t know if Venli can surgebind with warlight. Something tells me that having a Regal Form (something Odium handed out) while being a Radiant (Honor’s radiant) will let her utilize Warlight to surgebind. If she can in fact do this, her Willshaper powers will let her open a perpendicularity so that Radiants trained in Light tuning on the other side in shadesmar will be able to change the war light back into Stormlight and void light. Navani would know how to do this, but if she doesn’t make it back for book 6, anything could happen. But with Venli’s access to war light (via prayer at the shattered plains) and elsecalling, theoretically the radiants could get Stormlight working again when Navani wakes up. who wants to bet she’s the character who returns in book 6’s epilogue?
  19. I’d argue that Mat was most likely to court the shadow out of our main cast. Mat betrays Rand in tons of other mirrors of the wheel, as evidenced by the aftermath of the whole flicker flicker flicker business. Eggy seems super on board with the Aes Sedai the entire time. I would’ve liked Eggy more if she killed Elayne.
  20. I think there’s a lot of overlap between The Edgedancers remembering people and the bondsmiths drawing people together. That, and edgedancers are really useful, so I can imagine that any given bondsmith would love a squad of edgedancers on call
  21. Lerasium stores Sobriety.
  22. Iirc, Brandon has stated that there are other ways to awaken objects that don’t involve Breath. The later-cosmere secret projects making passing references to Awakened Metal Minds. Do we think that these are merely metalminds filled to the brim with one person’s Identity, or is there likely something else going on here?
  23. Thanks again. It’s funny to me how you sign all of these off as “hope that helps”. I love that
  24. Alright, I've got a doozy for you. It probably won't work, but I'm gonna try anyways 1. The Set have done experiments with Hemalurgy that leads them to believe that they can key any allomantic or feruchemical ability to a spike made out of 20 alive people. 2. Me and You are both Ferrings of the same metal. Your favorite metal. Knowing this forum, it's probably Tin. 3. If I harvest investiture from 20 souls, can I key that spike to your Identity, then spike myself? Is that possible? Duralumin steals Connection/Identity, so this leads me to believe that Identity is something that can in-fact be keyed for. 4. If I was spiked with your Identity, could you and I pass the same metal mind back and forth without either of us having to die and neither of us having to spend an abhorrent amount of money on an unkeyed metalmind? I know we technically don't know any of this for certain, but do you think this would be possible?
