Because of one miscalculated act. Poor Wishikk, they all whispered. Always, always wrong. The calls - poor, poor - the blames - Wishikk! - the accusations - always. Always. And worst of all, the murmurs. Wrong. In that instant, it was all too much. The walls, carefully built, meticulously protected, breached last night, came crashing down altogether. A bestial scream burst through Wishikk’s lips, and in an instant, he was back in that night. …. Wishikk ushered the other artifabrians into the room. His arms tingled with excitement, quieting the concerns of the others. Once they were all inside, Wishikk, unable to repress a grin, slid over to the contraption in the middle of the room and pulled of the tarp covering it. Then he turned to the others, arms spread wide. ”Wishikk… what is this?” Loral seemed unimpressed. Wishikk sighed. Oh, well. He’d just have to show them. The contraption was a large orb, inside of which rested a single, drowsy flamespren. Most of the orb was lined with that magic substance; aluminum. All except for one bit, a small section that was occupied by an almost impossibly thing aluminum tube leading into another orb. Carefully, so as not to disturb anything, Wishikk sidled over to his desk as the others watched with confusion and snatched a small syringe. Inside of it was an odd, purplish liquid that seemed to absorb light itself. ”Wishikk… what’s I that?” It was Hirin this time. Wishikk was so caught up in his thrill he didn’t notice the concerned edge to the man’s voice. ”I call it… half-ichor!” ”That name sucks.” ”It’s a work in progress! Regardless, this acts as a sort of magnet to the substance the spren are made of.” Wishikk glanced down to admire the beauty in his hands. So much power… in such a small container. ”Wishikk…” ventured Hirin. He was interrupted. By Sorik. ”Well? What does it do?” Wishikk smiled. He walked over to the empty orb, and began to prepare the syringe. “If applied correctly, the ichor should suck a portion of the spren’s substance straight out of it. Imagine the applications! Infinite Stormlight!” ”Wishikk…” Wishikk ignored the older artifabrian once again. Holding his breath, he set the syringe in it’s slot, and turned to the crowd. Then he pushed. 1, 2, 3, 4,- “WISHIKK!” Wishikk looked up just in time to see Hirin rushing at him. And several things happened at once. Hirin tackled Wishikk, throwing them both to the floor. Wishikk dropped the syringe, which hit the orb and clattered next to him. The spren screamed. Not only were they unfair, but they were also in the territory that no Skybreaker would ever dispute. Today had been a struggle for the group of hopefuls. It was honestly shameful. Chaos. Polarization. Had they already forgotten their task? The full Skybreaker landed somewhere nearby, and approached the group on foot. Instantly, all voices were hushed. “Hopefuls, is this what you bring? Chaos?” Uranihran asked. “You have decided collectively that between two people, one must be a lawbreaker. However, you cannot bring a consensus as to whom.” Wishikk Makar. The person who gave the group's verdict on the previous day, now betrayed by his colleagues. And Richard, who claimed he had no idea how he got here. “Your incompetence is growing. Yet I am a patient teacher, so I will spare you the grief.” The Skybreaker told them. “Rules. They exist to be followed. The order of the Skybreakers treat rules as venerate, because we understand what the other orders do not.” He summoned his blade. It was shorter than the deadeyes of Alethi, but it was as functional as he needed it to be. “Our tenacity to rules is the sole reason why the Skybreakers persisted while the other nine orders of Radiant did not. All rules, including the law, exist to be followed. They guide us through chaos so we can find order.” His blade vanished into thin mist. Looking at each of the members individually, he said, “I see you have taken yesterday's… learning experience into account.” The group nodded. They were a keen bunch, and unwilling to part with such a vicious memory so quickly. “That is acceptable.” Uranihran said, “but there must always be a consequence. Richard, step forward.” Uranihran could see the beads of sweat forming on the poor blacksmith’s forehead. Although he had likely been accustomed to the heat of a forge, he was not used to the pressure of this. “Yesterday, I made an error in my lesson. I merely rid the group of the one you presumed guilty. Today, I will correct it. Richard, please stand here. Starseeker, please hold my blade.” He handed his shardblade to the Returned, in front of the trembling blacksmith. But then, a small voice cried out from the back of the group. Booknewt. “Wishikk Makar! Wishikk Makar! I break the tie, Master Uranihran, I vote for Wishikk!” “Awfully late, isn't it?” “It's in the rules. I'm allowed to say my vote.” The Skybreaker nodded. There was nothing that was broken. “Very well. Starseeker, please use the blade to remove Wishikk Makar.” Uranihran said, gesturing for Wishikk to step forward. “Why must I?” Starseeker asked. “Why myself and no one else?” “When we uphold the law, we have a collective responsibility. What you experience today is what should've happened yesterday. Now, please kill Wishikk Makar.” “This feels excessively cruel.” Wishikk Makar said. “This is the same verdict that was given to the ThatOneWorldhopper. Shortly after I left, I dealt with him in a similar manner. I apologize for making a special exemption. Now, Starseeker, please deliver justice to the accused.” And just like that, Justice was delivered. ~ By the time that Wishikk was finally removed, Inspector Javert had already left, no longer willing to partake in the full Skybreaker’s games. Uranihran landed in front of him. “You run. You run from responsibility, Inspector?” Javert nodded. “I don't have time for your games, old man. I have my own spren, and I have already sworn my second Ideal.” “Go.” Uranihran said emotionlessly. “If your musings have attracted a highspren, I must accept the decisions of the higher authority. To the remaining hopefuls, you will be announced as a casualty.” “We will meet again, Uranihran. I do not approve of what you are doing, but I will not intervene.” And like that, the newly bonded Skybreaker lashed himself away, leaving Uranihran alone with just his hollow games. ~ Hoid Slayer was killed! He was an Innocent! Doc12 was "killed"! He was an Innocent! Things were getting quite worrying. One more bad move, and everyone is dead. So many gone... The strange ripple of space has started talking to him. It is saying "Such delicous lies... and for itself! it doesn't even seem aware... but there is a backdoor'. CD was sure he was insane.
