209845 nodded, then moved to stand behind her. It raised its arms, then hesitated for an instant. The energy continued to pulse through its form, causing it to glow stronger and, in spots of high concentration, splitting the usual darkness of its void-flesh into a prism of color. 209845 braced itself one last time, then placed its hands on Jidah's shoulders. And Pushed.

Immediately, a surge of energy flowed through 209845 and into Jidah, powering her shield. As the force streamed out of 209845, its body yelled at it to stop. It resisted. This was a sacrifice it could make.

The shield expanded rapidly, pushed by his energy. Jidah gasped— it felt far more effortless than she’d thought. She used more energy to hide them all from prying senses.

“I don’t need quite so much,” she told 209845. “Not at present, at least.”

209945 sighed in relief, and the beefy flow relaxed. It was still, however, enough to power the shield.

”We must hurry,” it got out. “I don’t know how much longer I can keep this up.”

Sigismund isn't there, but they would think he is because he just said he would turn invisible. However, instead of following them, he left to follow Reva, so they probably won't find out he's gone until they're past the virus chamber.

Lati followed silently.

Well . . . mostly silently.

She floated over to 209845.

"Hi . . ." she said quietly.

209845 followed close behind her, making sure not to cut off the flow of energy. Every second hurt, but it shouldn’t be for too long. And this was a good distraction…

The party rounded the bend, and nothing could have prepared them for the view that awaited them. Thousands upon thousands of viruses. Growling, stretching, or just milling about in the enormous chamber. And hanging in the center, even more imposing from ground level, was the Rift.

209845 suddenly felt tiny before this expanse. Yes, very tiny indeed. For what they had to now cross was nothing less than a sea of the beings it was born to kill.

209845 jumped, on edge, then relaxed when it realized who it was.

”Hi, Lati.” It hesitated, wincing from the strain, then continued. “How are you feeling?”

aw okie :P

Goodnight :D

Lati didn't pay the viruses much attention for some reason.

"I dunno." She would have shrugged if . . . if she'd known what that was. Weird.

"Is . . . is Jidah okay?" she whispered, moving on.

Jidah narrowed her eyes at the viruses. A new layer was added to the barrier, a bluish layer.

Ah, so this is where the Maker lives, Sigismund thought, stepping forward. He was still invisible, so Reva couldn't see him. He examined the house.

This was my earlier decription: "As the woman had said, his house was the largest in the vicinity. It was old but not dilapidated, and sturdily built of dark wood with a stone-shingled roof. Curtains over the windows on both floors blocked the view inside. It wasn't grand, but it seemed that it could probably comfortably accommodate a large family or several house guests."

Additionally, it only has the one front door. It doesn't have a chimney.

Sigismund rubbed his beard carefully. Now, how to get inside? He stepped over to a window and pulled out his watch, pressing it to the glass.

"Tell me, what did you look like a century ago?" A moment later, the window dissolved into sand.

The house is more than a century old, but let's just assume he gave a larger timespan.

He can try to enter the house, but you'll have to wait for me to tell you want happens if he does.

"Yes, Ji - Jidah's okay. Just a little - stressed because of all the commotion."

Sure enough, the viruses seemed to pay the group no attention as they walked in. The closest they came was when a virus suddenly walked in front of the shield, causing the party to freeze, but moved on quickly. 209845 felt a surge of relief, although it was also aware that it's energy was running out. They needed to get somewhere safe quickly to change the energy source. On the bright side, the fatigue meant 209845 found it easier to resist the urge to fight. 209845 quickly scanned its surroundings, searching for somewhere the group could camp out; as long as they stayed in this chamber, the Cloud shouldn't search for them. There! To their left, near the Rift, was a low ledge in the cavern wall large enough to fit them all comfortably.

209845 signaled to the group. "Let's head in that direction. Once we get there, we can connect Jidah to the Rift."

Right. Since I've already stated he can only wind his clock back 100 years at a time, let's assume he did it a couple of times in order to get through the window.

There was still a curtain covering the now open window, so no one would have seen it dissolve from the outside. Cautiously, Sigismund climbed onto the windowsill and poked his invisible head through the curtains, trying to see what was inside. I only have a few minutes left of invisibility, so I'd better be quick about the sneaking around part.
