209845 listened to their conversation with half its attention, while also looking around for any hints. As they walked, the tunnel began to descend, and sure enough, it winded down back in the direction of the virus cavern. Eventually, a bend came up ahead, and from around the corner glowed a faint iridescent light, illuminating the cavern walls. They were here. Time for the leap of faith.

209845 stopped before the bend, signaling with its arms for the others to do the same, and crouched down to inspect the tracks on the earth. Fresh. It stood back up, and turned to the group.

”We must be quiet. Around this bend is most likely the virus chamber; we need to think of a way to sneak in without drawing their attention,” it whispered, then hesitated. “And also without triggering… my protocol.”
