Yeah, not too much

A mysterious guy called Ctholis (@spiritofwrath) showed up, claiming he has a piece of the Plague’s power or something and was called by Of to help.

Ver is trying to negotiate with Ctholis, to find out more about him and see if he can help them.

Réva has been interacting with some weird infant that Ctholis brought with him thst only she can see (Nergal?)

Also, Elan is back

Finally, we also got more information about the nature of Spirit, Of, and Wrath, along with lore about Ctholis / Nergal I’ll attach below in case you’re interested

(In world, characters don’t know all this, btw)

SoW is actually a being impersonating me, Wish

He commands Spirit, Of, and Wrath, three fragments of my knowledge of my magic systems. Spirit is my knowledge of the magic of Aelorin and Aeia, Of is the knowledge of the magic of Wriulin, and Wrath is my knowledge of the magic of Wrath (Different guy, my namesake).

Consequently, Wish tricked them into thinking he was SoW, a powerful entity within the universe - and gave them powers to match their knowledge. Aelorin has manipulation over shadows and destruction, Aeia has power over light and creation. (This one is the most loose magic - they can do most anything.) Wriulin has control over two magics: The Strands, an embodiment of chaos that manifests as golden strands that act as a sort of eldritch tentacles, and the Casts, which are fields of magic that can manipulate forces, energy, and time within them. They can also be used to create sentient AI, but that’s not the point. Wrath has power over the wind, fire, emotions, one’s perception of reality, and also has an equivalent to microkinesis.

Clarification on that last part: He has an equivalent to microkinetic sight. (Although the explosions he can do are quite spectacular anyways)

Wish wants to end plot progression in general. End the pain, in a way. But he doesn’t want a happy ending specifically.

Spirit follows this.

Of rejects this, searching for a happy ending.

Wrath rejects this, wishing for the plot and the intrigue and the stuf continues forever. He is deffa chaos.

Nergal and the Once Dragon (Also known as the Prince of Serpants) are aspects of plot taken by itirSp from my stories. Nergal is the god of Death and sickness is Mesopotamian mythology, though I had a story with him in my Plagueblade thread, which is where the character comes from. He controls the plague, which is a malicious, constantly evolving bacterium that has sentience (but no sapience. Yet.) He commands officials named Plaguemasters, who were fearmongers n stuff.

But then the Once Dragon came, a dragon that turned to eldritch and darker powers (it) in ambition. He purged the plague, bringing freedom to the people. The Drake-Son is a mortal manifestation of him. He’s good… for now. Plaguemaster Ctholis betrayed Nergal in favor of him, but his previous station made it difficult to make friends amongs the Drake-Son’s people

Ver wondered dimly what Lati was up to.

"Okay..."

For the sake of moving forward, Ver chose to accept that answer for now.

"We," he gestured at himself and his companions, "come from a world known as Açila. There, an extremely advanced force known as the Cloud has taken residence and begun a process of Rebooting on the planet - a process that, if completed, will erase all signs of life on Açila. Our mission is to save what we can from that world, before it falls. But we need help. Of... he was willing to help us."

“Yes, he sent me. I think… well I think whatever was done to him was more effective than he let on.”

Spoiler

At the one place, @Bird Furious removed the Slumber from him while he visited.

However, it hurt to get it back.

Ver nodded. He understood what Ctholis was referencing, and it provided evidence that Ctholis was telling the truth.

In that case...

"I'm not sure where Of is right now. He was here a while ago, however. Should we try to find him?"

That last bit intrigued Ver. He cocked his head.

"And where would that be?"

Rane fell through the sky, terrified. He wished he had never left his crew. He wish he'd never passed the trials. And he wished to the bottom of his heart he had never, ever angered the dragon.

@Hoid Slayer

Ver shivered. The rain thundered, the lightning poured, and he shivered.

Jidah… Lati… Elan. Ctholis.

Damn Ctholis.

He didn’t know how much time had passed since that first meeting at Customs. No, all the time since then had been a blur. Hope, then, had been so close. Still high from his resistance against the Cloud, Ver had been so willing to jump into any new opportunity. He had thought he was ready for the universe.

He was not.

They had followed Ctholis. They had made it to the world he had spoken of. And then everything had gone wrong.

The memory pained Ver, and he released a cry, stumbling in the mud. There was something in the rain… something unnatural. Something of the Other Side, of the Web. It touched his voidflesh, filling him with an excruciating cold. It would not kill him, no. But it would make him suffer.

Damn the Drake-Son. Damn his false promises. The negotiations turned sour. The Others arrived.

And because of them… because of his foolish hope, his blind trust… it was that Ver now trudged alone through the mud and rain and lightning. Alone. Cold. Shattered.

In the dragon’s domain.

@TwinStorm wanna have Rane fall on top of him or something?

As for everybody else: who wants to get this moving? This can take place like a week after the last events - so still before Açila’s Rebooting. Can’t pin people right now, but later I’mma post the plot summary I have of everything up till now stashed somewhere and some guidance for me folk.

Twin, thanks so much.

Rane cursed as he slammed into another man. He heard something snap, and a wave of pain exploded through his leg.

Nix and Night above, that hurt.

He rubbed his leg, as his bones began to heal and snap back into position. Healing himself too quickly hurt, but he should find out who he had just pummeled.

Ver tripped on a rock. Then a man fell on him. The feeling wasn’t painful so much as… deeply uncomfortable. The physical force caused his void-flesh to glitch rapidly, creating force fields that somewhat broke the man’s fall, but Ver still heard a scream - yet it was cut out quickly. As his body slowly readjusted to its regular form, shaken, he turned to look at the man.

Ver wasn’t a human. An Antivirus of the Cloud, he was roughly human-shaped, but tall and slender, a silhouette made entirely of a void-like substance. His elongated head had no features, and he was just built… different. He wasn’t meant to have free will, nor emotions. Just a mindless agent of the Framework’s most powerful civilization. Or so he’d thought. Then he’d met them. And he’d realized something about him was different.

The man who landed on him, however, did seem human. But that didn’t make sense, because as Ver watched with awe, his bones snapped back together, his flesh healed. He looked him up and down, surprised merely to see another sign of life.

“Who… are you?”

The fox quivers like a string turned too tight. Not in fear, exactly, But anticipation. Dragons; cold blooded, like no proper god should be. No matter. The Fox stood, and became a man.

Monitor. He asks, wandering from the storm.

Rane recoiled. That man didn't seem human whatsoever. In his years of servitude, he had dealt with non-humans, but he was different.

He stood, cracking his neck. His bones were healed, but a fraction of the pain remained.

"Rane Cauthon. Who in the seas are you?" he replied, drawing a knife from his belt.

Ver looked at the weapon, but didn’t respond. It couldn’t hurt him.

Who in the seas are you?…

A memory rose, unbidden. It was one of his earliest memories. That first day. When he knew nothing, and bliss was everything.

“My na-a-ame is-s-s 209845, and I was sent to de-e-e-e-elete you.“

The voice laughed. “E-e-e-e-e.” She sang it, mocking him. He was confused… why was she not afraid? Oh, what he would give to hear her voice again.

Then another memory came. More recent. It was the voice again. But this time… she was afraid. No, she was terrified. Something in her cracked. And listening to her, something within 209845 broke too. That was the day he had turned around, and transformed.

The rain poured. Rane looked at him expectantly. Ver raised his chin and straightened up, not letting the phantom tears on his phantom skin show.

”A girl once named me Oliver, and you can call me Ver.”

Hey you don’t really need to retcon

We can just say that the Primals have suddenly lost a major chunk of their power. Maybe that’s involved with How Everything Went Wrong
