In Ver’s eyes, Réva seemed to be talking to nothing. And yet, he didn’t think her crazy, and so had figured out by now that something was going on. Ver’s instincts wanted him to assess the situation, but he held himself back with the knowledge that Réva was better equipped in this case than he was.

It was a difficult relent to make, but one that made him feel good inside. And it payed off in moments like these, when he saw wisdom in her words. Even if he couldn’t completely understand it yet.

Because it was moments like these, amongst the doubt, that convinced him accepting that he couldn’t understand everything was one of the most important things Ver had ever done. The doubt, the habit was strong. The voice that still whispered 209845 as his true name. But Ver… Ver could be stronger.

As Réva spoke to the child, a memory tried to surface. She pushed it down, just as she always had. She didn’t feel regret, but she felt something.

If you live in the past, you miss your whole life. That isn’t your life.

She held the memory at bay. But she wondered what its voice would have sounded like.

"Huh... did he mention what exactly you were supposed to help us with?"

Ver turned to look at him, and tried to remember what Sigismund was referring to. A... fight? Well, if Ver had been confused enough to not recollect it well - then it probably wasn't that important, anyways.

"Yeah. We're good."

Ikr I think it involved Archie's character but yeah I really can't remember the details

Sigismund got bored, suddenly disappeared in thin air, and will reappear in approximately 11 minutes and 37 seconds in-world.

I’m remembering now. Yeah, you’re good. Ver isn’t the kind to hold a grudge

Ver considered for a second, before settling on the decision to trust Ctholis. The last hour had been spent arguing with divinities of all shapes and sizes. It was time to try something different.

”I trust you,” Ver said. “Tell me more about Nergal and the Plague, and I’ll try to explain what’s going on to you. Have you ever heard of something called the Cloud?”

Ver gave Elan a sideye. He still didn’t know much about the mysterious person; only that they had shown up right before the battle with the Cloud, and had traveled with the rest of the party to the Pocket.

"Okay... slow down a little. What is the Drake-Son? What do you mean `your people`? Is Nergal a potential ally or an enemy?"

As he spoke to Ctholis, Ver began to look around for Of. The being had been arguing with the Fox not long ago... where had he gone?

Also, BTW, @SpiritOfWrath, it'd be great if you gave me a summary of all the important information about Ctholis, Nergal, SoW, all that to add it to the Worldbuilding thread and remember it

Ver turned to look at him. Who was he? Ver... 209845... agent of the Cloud...

"Remember those shadowy guys we fought in the caverns? That was the Cloud. I am - was - one of their agents. I left them because..." because I decided they were wrong. But... if they were wrong... what is right? And who am I now?

Ver let the sentence trail off, lost in his thoughts and sensations.

Ok

Yea

Ive been vague bc of not having nailed it down right yet, but I’ve about got it.

SoW is actually a being impersonating me, Wish

He commands Spirit, Of, and Wrath, three fragments of my knowledge of my magic systems. Spirit is my knowledge of the magic of Aelorin and Aeia, Of is the knowledge of the magic of Wriulin, and Wrath is my knowledge of the magic of Wrath (Different guy, my namesake).

Consequently, Wish tricked them into thinking he was SoW, a powerful entity within the universe - and gave them powers to match their knowledge. Aelorin has manipulation over shadows and destruction, Aeia has power over light and creation. (This one is the most loose magic - they can do most anything.) Wriulin has control over two magics: The Strands, an embodiment of chaos that manifests as golden strands that act as a sort of eldritch tentacles, and the Casts, which are fields of magic that can manipulate forces, energy, and time within them. They can also be used to create sentient AI, but that’s not the point. Wrath has power over the wind, fire, emotions, one’s perception of reality, and also has an equivalent to microkinesis.

More in Nergal and Co., but I gottta go.

Elan nodded, looking into the distance. Ver reminded him a lot of himself—someone who left something bigger. "I... I won't say I know exactly how you feel. But I've been through something similar, I think." He exhaled softly, and put a hand on Ver's shoulder. "If you ever need to talk. Or just think near someone. I'm here."

Clarification on that last part: He has an equivalent to microkinetic sight. (Although the explosions he can do are quite spectacular anyways)

Wish wants to end plot progression in general. End the pain, in a way. But he doesn’t want a happy ending specifically.

Spirit follows this.

Of rejects this, searching for a happy ending.

Wrath rejects this, wishing for the plot and the intrigue and the stuf continues forever. He is deffa chaos.

Nergal and the Once Dragon (Also known as the Prince of Serpants) are aspects of plot taken by itirSp from my stories. Nergal is the god of Death and sickness is Mesopotamian mythology, though I had a story with him in my Plagueblade thread, which is where the character comes from. He controls the plague, which is a malicious, constantly evolving bacterium that has sentience (but no sapience. Yet.) He commands officials named Plaguemasters, who were fearmongers n stuff.

But then the Once Dragon came, a dragon that turned to eldritch and darker powers (it) in ambition. He purged the plague, bringing freedom to the people. The Drake-Son is a mortal manifestation of him. He’s good… for now. Plaguemaster Ctholis betrayed Nergal in favor of him, but his previous station made it difficult to make friends amongs the Drake-Son’s people.

Ill respond to the in game, but I gtg again…

“Nergal is… no longer a problem. The plague seems to be mostly gone, for now. The Drake-Son leads those who rebelled against Nergal.”

@Hoid Slayer

"Okay..."

For the sake of moving forward, Ver chose to accept that answer for now.

"We," he gestured at himself and his companions, "come from a world known as Açila. There, an extremely advanced force known as the Cloud has taken residence and begun a process of Rebooting on the planet - a process that, if completed, will erase all signs of life on Açila. Our mission is to save what we can from that world, before it falls. But we need help. Of... he was willing to help us."
