She nodded.

"And you are?"

“Dayla.” Dayla hesitated, pursing her lips. “What…made you want to come here?”

"Nice to meet you, Dayla. That's a pretty name, if you don't mind me saying."

She thought for a moment.

"I came here because my boss sent me," she answered, grinning. "He doesn't really like to give people warning."

She chuckled and rested her head back on the seat.

"It sure is. And you're welcome."

She sighed.

"It's nice, I guess. Warm in the day, cool at night. We don't really have seasons like other places do- it's actually kind of boring. Which is why I prefer climates like that-" she waved towards the closed door, "-solely for the variety."

"The people are kinda similar to the climate, actually- either really sad or really happy, for one reason or another. I was usually only around the sad ones, just because of my job . . . they're fun at first, but you get kinda tired of the oppressiveness of it, y'know?" She shrugged. "I'd probably like it more if I felt like I actually belonged there. Maybe one day."

"Anyway, what about you?"

Dayla nodded. “I guess mine is sort of the same. The people, I mean. Maybe that’s just all I saw of it, but it was the highest highs or the lowest lows. It was also alive, beautifully alive.” She smiled wistfully. “I didn’t realize just how so until I decided to leave, and by then it felt too late.”

Litika chuckled. "Mine felt kinda dead, truthfully. Do you miss your home?"

“No.” Yes. “Maybe.”

“Guess not,” Dayla murmured. “But maybe I’ll find somewhere better out here, and then I won’t have too.”

"Why did you leave? I know you were talking about it earlier, but I didn't want to be rude, so . . ."
