I think so. You might need a counterweight on the end, but you should be able to cut through people with it. (Just make sure to not hit yourself)

Edit: I completely misinterpreted what you said. I think the cord would still block things, but it might work.

Nah, too much work.  You just need to have Gaz go for a week or two without brushing his teeth.  He lightweaves himself into someone attractive to the target and then breathes on them.  And none of the awkward burned-out eyes to explain or clean up. The burned out nose-hairs would be a lot less obvious.  (smell-weaver?)

Another idea.  Terrible idea. Shard 19mm wrench.  After all, if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a shardblade.  Or something.

Honestly? A Shardblade Axe or Scythe would be badass. I don't think I would put them in a "useless" category.

If it's living, the Spren could alter it's shape mid flight to curve at will.

Which would probably make it a pretty good weapon, actually.

I don’t know, but I want to find out. Maybe you can put a shardcounterweight on the end and swing it around? Or Lash two nonmagic counterweights diagonally in different directions, then have it fall forward at whatever you want to destroy.

The kids could learn to play the Shardcorder in elementary school.  Nothing builds musical and martial prowess like blasting out a few verses of "Three Blind Cremlings" on the ol' Shardcorder from 3rd grade.  And some of those notes are sharper than a shardblade ever will be.

But the spren may need some serious therapy afterwards.
