I grant you the nothingness of an eternal disembodied journey through deep space beyond the reach of starlight, never able to lose consciousness.

I wish for a kindly spren.

Posted

Granted. You now have a new Spren friend! (It's a Spren scholar who is trying to study humanity).

You're not bonded to it or anything, but it likes you.

I wish to have an improved memory; imprinting, sorting, recall, and long term storage.

Posted

You are now really, really good with names and faces...that's it.

You become really, really, bad with metaphor and simile.

I wish for one of the physical allomantic powers...nightwatcher's choice.

Posted

Granted. You have pewter. Unfortunately, getting the perfect alloy requires hiring a special person which costs too much money for it to be realistic. It's practically useless.

For your bane, you discover that pewter was granted by an irremovable spike. For reasons only known to Ruin, he now speaks to you constantly, telling you to kill people and do what he wants... it may have something to do with the fact that you're the only person with a hemalurgic spike. He's not very convincing but annoying.

I wish for a way to get home instantaneously that won't kill me.

Posted

Granted. However, you can never know exactly where you'll go, for home is where the heart is.

You're forced to put your heart in Braize, and become immortal. You HAVE to be with the heart for at least a third of the year.

I wish for people to just stop arguing.

I always assumed that Ruin had a man's voice...the one I've been hearing for years is an elderly English woman...go figure...

He's trying to fool you!

I wish for people to just stop arguing.

The Nightwatcher is apprehensive of the power this would give you, but appreciates the thought. As your boon, whenever you're twenty steps or less from people arguing, they stop by reaching a conclusion that satisfies both sides. The effects remain even after you leave. Your bane is that not only does it not work on any argument you're taking part in, people are compelled to argue with you even if they agree with what you're saying.

I wish for the buses to run on time in my city.

Posted (edited)

Granted, whenever you heal, a loved one dies.

I wish I could make timtams out of thin air.

The Nightwatcher has no idea what TimTams are. You explain the concept to her but it fails her understanding utterly. Instead, you can now magically conjure thick bricks of unsweetened cocoa - hard enough to break your teeth and crack open skulls. (Oh but hey! Free ammunition! P.s. I'm so not coming near you during a food fight.)

I wish to be a fully-functional Edgedancer here on earth who fuels his Surgebinding with the innate Investiture of a good PB&J sandwich instead of Stormlight.

The nightwatcher doesn't think you're worthy of that boon.
Instead, you have to fuel your edgedancing with Balut; and only Balut.

I wish to have an instantaneous and intrinsic understanding of mechanisms; how they work, how to build them, how to make them better.

You just understend how they work and..... how to broke them. So you end up broking things.

I wish for tomato soup.

Posted

Okay. Here you go.

Du3eg6WPFI8.jpg

This is you. In your "tomato soup".

Your bane is that this happened to your entire house. You can fix it, clean it up, but it won't ever be the same.

I wish for more hours in the day just for me.

Your Wednesdays are now 50 minutes longer...only for you...and your co-workers.

Your bane...you lose the ability gauge the passage of time, and can't tell time anymore when looking at clocks.

I wish for an in world quote or WoB verifying that a coinshot can push on silver...

So in short, the only place I can ever make my Edgedancing work is in the Philippines. Hahahahaha! Thank you Nightwatcher for your gift - because I happen to live in the Philippines. I have managed to cheat the system  Now to start hunting for some balut...

Granted. Kaladin tells Sigzil in the third book of the Stormlight Archive, "Hey, did you know that coinshots can ACTUALLY push on silver?" Demoux and the rest overhears this, thinks Kaladin is a worldhopper, and ends up dragging him back to AoL Scadrial. And that's just your boon!

Your bane is that... your forum pic has been changed from Bobba Fett to that of Jabba the Hutt. Enjoy B)

I wish the frickin' upvote and downvote button on this forum were on opposite sides of our posts instead of stuck together in the right-hand corner... *grumbles*

Granted. Now the downvote button is where the upvote button used to be, so you downvote by accident even more frequently.

I wish all my homework for the rest of the semester was done.

Granted . You are now blind.

I wish Bane was a decent person.

(Kudos to whoever can think of something more creative than this)

Granted but he breaks your back whenever he hugs you.

Hah! Good luck to you then! Have you tried Balut? Is it any good?

I wish Bane was a decent person.

He was a decent person.

Until the horrors of Peña Duro broke him.

I wish to have enough breath to have the second Heightening.

Balut is fine enough, unless the vendor gives you an egg that's begun developing bones. I have never quite forgotten the feeling of eating the newly formed skull of a baby chick.. still gives me nightmares. *shivers*

I wish to have enough breath to have the second Heightening.

Granted - but in addition to receiving about 200 souls worth of Biochromatic Breath, you have also received 200 souls worth of Literal Breath. From now on, you must brush your teeth 200 times everyday just to stave off bad breath, and that's only in the mornings... If you don't brush your teeth, your Breath becomes a weapon of mass destruction.

It is my most sincere wish to have a pet barracuda.

Posted

Granted. The barracuda is everything you've always dreamed. You have a nice place for it to live. It's even alive and likes you.

You can now only speak in little-kid mumbles. Nobody but your pet barracuda can understand you, but unfortunately, the barracuda is not shaped for human speech. Your writing suffers the same ailment, which means that you lose the ability to type without chicken-pecking and you lose your train of thought easily.

I wish for a hundred Hershey's kisses.

Posted

Hershey is starting to get creepy... are you sure you want a hundred? He hasn't shaved in a while.

Your bane is that you can't run away from someone who means you no harm. So you're stuck with Hershey while he kisses you a hundred times.

I wish to know exactly what time it is at all times of the day.

Posted

Granted. You have an intrinsic and automatic understanding of what time it is.

As your bane, every time you see a clock that is even slightly off (even by seconds) you freak out until it's been corrected.

I wish for the ability to understand any concept that anyone even tries to explain to me (especially in lectures).

Posted

You now understand everything! (Provided it's explained to you first.) Concepts are very easy for you to grasp. Know, though, that this doesn't mean you can solve the world's problems magically. You just get things quickly.

However, your imagination is worthless now and every explanation needs very clear graphics. Also, it is near-impossible for you to write anything original or speak without quoting every sentence from another source.

I wish that multiple Disneylands (CA) existed: one for each year the park has been open, with corresponding developments in its history, and all are available for me and other people to visit.

Posted

Granted, but now entire country (or at least the area surrounding CA) is completely covered in Disneylands, and, since there is not nearly enough people living there to run them all, they all fall into disrepair and California is forever known as the 'deserted state of the haunted amusement parks'

Don't you just love when the boon is the bane? :D

I wish to be effortlessly fluent in any language I desire, at any time, even dead languages, and that my bane won't restrict me somehow from speaking or sharing knowledge.
