I had an idea…

What if we did a general fiction hunger games where you get to pick a pre-existing character from any fictional book or series who would do good in a traditional hunger games without magic, like Aragorn from lord of the rings, or Will from rangers apprentice

Basically, if you’ve ever thought “hey, this person would be good in the hunger games”, then this is for you.

Character balance would have to be maintained (i.e no one can play as sauron from lotr). That would be the biggest problem.

However, I agree that a more broad category could serve better for any non-sanderson game, because it may connect with more people.

I don't mean to shoot down every idea ever, but someone has to be the Harbinger of Bad News.

We could just limit it to humans and humanoids to balance it, and part of my initial idea was no magic. So Kaladin would just be a really gods spearman, but without a shardblade and plate.

True, but there's room for things that not everyone will want to be a part of.

And, besides, I already call the position of professional shooter of every idea ever.

I do recommend at least the first two books. They work well together as a duology.

lol.

I really enjoyed the first two books, but Children was painfully boring up until the last hundred pages or so. I couldn't bring myself to pick up God Emperor right away, and soon afterward I discovered the cosmere and I'm still catching up on that. Maybe once I finish I'll return to Dune. Or maybe one of the other series on my endless, ever-growing reading list.

If your thought Children of Dune was boring… I have a feeling you will not enjoy God Emperor. It’s a lot of monologuing

I've heard a lot about how good it is. Once I finish Mistborn Era 2, I'll check it out.

Ideas are not unwelcome nor unwanted but they come with constructive cynicism to go with them.

Again, I'm not shooting down ideas for fun, or for no reason. I simply think that many people overlook vital aspects that they may be missing, and I'm nowhere near perfect at identifying all of them, but I would say I've gotten better over time.

I'm sure there are ways to farther balance them, but it is a good idea.

ooh that sound interesting. what about a hunger games where we all are shards. like we have infinite power with infinite potential and we pit whole armies against one another. the last army standing kind of thing? might work better as a normal rp though

In my opinion that one wouldn’t make the best Hunger Games, just since there are so many ways that Shards can be used and do I think it would get very chaotic and even harder to keep up with.

Still, the idea of just being the Shard of Bob…

6. What is the meaning of all this?

1 2 and 3: Someone who was born from the capitol or born from a capitol citizen during or after the rebellion where the rebels took over is a capitol child. A capitol citizen is both a capitol child and capitol adult. The capitol used to be in charge of the districts and now the districts are in charge of the capitol. So what was once the predator is now the prey. You will be playing the former predator that is now the prey.

4. You can choose, but if you need I can choose for you

5. This is in Panem, look it up. Its where the hunger games is set. The GMHQ exists in a world outside of the arena, the arena is where the brandon sanderson book lives alongside of the hunger games, outside of that is just the hunger games. So research on Panem, its hard to explain.

6. We are trying out a new Pre-Rp to keep people busy. It lets you build relationships and backstories.

Anything else?

So to you, and anyone else who hasn't read the hunger games, the Capitol is a central city that controls the districts. However, it was just overthrown by a rebellion...who has turned into the very people they just overthrew. Does that make sense? If not, Google an explain it much better than I can.

When did this happen hmm

The reason why I ask is because I'm fairly certain other people will have somewhat similar questions
