The servant raised an eyebrow, "Is that so...? Then I shall see it."

Miros produced a scroll sealed in a red ribbon, and handed it over to the servant

The servant looked at Miros skeptically for a moment, then took the scroll. He opened the scroll and read its contents.

The woman paused for a moment in hesitation. Before she let the bartender reply, she held the ambrosia glasses in hr hands and glided discreetly across the ballroom floor, making her way to this mysterious figure. Face still covered, she casually leaned against a wall near him and faced herself away, watching the various aristocrats enjoy themselves. After a breath, once she knew the figure had noticed her, she spoke in a low voice.

"I didn't expect you to come."

She took a sip from her ambrosia glass.

"I would've put on more perfume."

He chuckled. When he spoke, his voice was soft and steady. "You'd like us to pretend to know each other, then?"

"You do not remember me?" She said, raising her voice a little higher than his. Then she dropped into a whisper. "That's rather surprising, isn't it? Seeing as we've met before, sir."

Her voice was smooth and unwavering but her hands were tense around the glass. Her unseen eyes flashed with desperation.

Wait, why?

"Yes, of course. Now... why are we speaking?"

"Would you like a glass of ambrosia, sir?"

"No thank you, I don't drink." He seemed to frown slightly, though it was hard to tell by only the top half of his face. "Are you alright?"

Does it have a recognizable signature that at least looks like it's the king's? What sort of stuff does it say, if not the details exactly?

The woman simply lifted part of her shawl carefully. Not so much was revealed, but what the man could see was a terrible bruise across the side of her face, and a slit through her eyebrow. Quickly, she replaced the shawl over her face.

"I'm sorry." He sighed. "My, you people are horrible to each other, aren't you?" He made eye contact with her for the first time, and his eyes were a striking amber similar to hers. An indiscernible feeling washed over her.

"Yes. We are."

She held his gaze.

"It's unfortunate," she said, finally looking away.

"Shameful really," she added, with a brief hesitation, "To be ourselves, that is."

"No. No... People are beautiful, but broken, especially as a collective. You all moved too fast, and your humanity hasn't caught up."

He stomps his foot.

Damn that woman, she had one job

He walks around the hall, looking for her when he sees her with the man. He straightens up and walks over, quickly placing his hand on her waist and standing beside her. The man can not see, but he squeezes her waist tightly.

"Have drinks yet, hon?" His tone didn't sound particularly aggressive, if anything it was loving.

He just gives him a charming smile, sticking out his free hand to shake.

"Lord Ravensdale, sir. Cedric Ravensdale."

He doesn't break eye contact.

The man reached out and shook his hand.

Pain broke out across the side of his face, like he had been struck, hard.

He flinches a little, hardly wincing , hiding the pain. He shakes his hand, his eye twitches.
