She loved the way the wind made the grass dance and the tree's branches jump around. Her hair was a soft blue, moving with the wind. She could see her home, the planet set large in the sky, starting to set. Fervor was different than most of her family. House Zefour didn't really mind if some of the less important members took some time on their planets beautiful moon, Efur. But, well... Fervor wasn't really a less important member. She was the oldest cousin to the heir of the house, Chovex. Chovex was an only child which put her second in the line of succession. Of course, Fervor didn't want to be a Lady. She just wanted to enjoy paradise. So she had borrowed one of her father's many ships and had flown herself here. And she was determined to stay as long as she could. Fervor glanced up at the green-blue sky and grinned, her golden white skin glowing. She couldn't wait for the sun to fall away so that she could admire all the stars. She knew almost all the constellations by heart as the heavens were one of the only things that interested her. She would fly away in her own spaceship and never come back if she ever had the chance. Someone in the distance yelled. It was too far away to tell what they were saying, but it was coming from the direction of the small town that had been established on the north side of the moon. Drat. They already figured out I was missing, Fervor thought. She wanted to run as fast as she could to her hidden cave, but she had to make sure that it was her family searching for her. She didn't want to miss one second of being outside. The girl snuck towards the town, and started to hear more yelling. But this time it was different. There were more voices. And there was something about their voices. Almost...panicked? As soon as Fervor recognized that nobody was looking for her, she started racing towards the town. As she ran to the top of a hill that overlooked the town below, Fervor's hair turned red in fear. People were running around in fear, some knocking into each other as they tried to race out of the confined space that the houses formed. Fervor wasn't sure why, there didn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary, no fire, no aliens. No nothing. A man from house Tayllar, with intricate patterns across his dark skin, rounded a corner of a building and came into Fervor's view. He tripped over a box and tried to get up quickly but tripped again. And then something flowed around the corner behind him. Something Fervor had never seen or even heard of before. A fluid of some sort, but with more structure. It was grey and didn't seem to have any form. She thought of the arctic stories her parents had told her when she was younger, and her hair changed from red to purple. Fervor realized she had heard of something like this before. Something that wasn't supposed to exist. ... Fervor was nine years old. She couldn't sleep, and even if she could have she would have only been met by nightmares. So she had decided to explore more of House Zefour's massive keep when there weren't a thousand guards in every hallway. She stopped as she realized a door ahead had some light shining out below, showing shadows of the two men on the other side. The small girl softly stepped up to the door to hear what was being said. She was shocked to hear her Father's voice. Her father wasn't even supposed to be on the planet, let alone in the solar system. What was he doing at home? The other voice began to speak, and Fervor recognized it immediately. "Father, just let me do some more experiments. I know I can succeed. Just think about the advantage our House would be! House Tayllar wouldn't be able to do anything to stop us." "Jafek," her Father said, "It's not right. We must do what is right for our people." Jafek tried to interrupt him, but her Father interrupted back. "Don't you interrupt me, son. You musn't forget that you are talking to your Father, and must show him the respect he deserves." After a short pause, he continued. "I don't care what you know, or what you think you know, you may not continue with this project. If I ever find out you resume with experiments again... well there better not be an again, do you understand?" "Yes, Father," Fervor's older brother responded in a defeated voice. And that was the end of the conversation. Fervor heard two sets of footsteps recede into the distance, probably taking one of the many secret tunnels hidden throughout the keep. Once she was sure nobody was inside, she opened the door and entered the small room. The stone room was mostly empty, except for a bookshelf along one wall and a desk sitting in the middle of the room. On the table sat a sketchbook, with handwriting so cramped only her brother could have managed to create. The open page was filled with drawings, and the top only held a few words. Words that wouldn't mean anything to Fervor for a very long time. "The Gjx: Say Goo(dbye)" ... Fervor shook her head and took a few seconds to remember where she was. It seemed that about half a minute had passed, and the man she had been watching earlier was nowhere to be seen. Only a greyish goo that perfectly resembled the drawings that she had seen in her older brothers drawings all those years ago. Only a month before he had disappeared. Every part of her wanted to go and help those below, but she felt that they were already lost. And she knew that someone had to survive to warn the others. To warn her father. Because the fate of the worlds hung in the balance. So, going against everything she stood for, Fervor turned and sprinted in the opposite direction, towards a settlement that stood on the south side of Efur. Her only other way off of the moon The brush slid across the colored canvas, adding a stroke of green to the crystal lake. Or at least what would eventually be a lake, as green was the only color this white canvas currently showed off. But Fllok saw so much more than a single stroke. He saw a beautiful forest with snowcapped mountains flocked behind, he saw gorgeous fish in the – “Fllok? Fllok?! Where are you?!” A vibration felt along the copper strip that followed the flow of the entire building, allowing him to hear when others called in their native language of Kyurin. Hear wasn’t exactly the best word to describe how he communicated, it was more…felt. Fllok waited for his sister to glide into the room before pointedly turning around and rolling his eyes at her. Many Llanta preferred using their Shadows as much as possible, but Fllok really did enjoy some of the uses his Shadow’s body lent him. Like annoying his sister. Ryos body was covered with intricate white lines that contrasted with her dark skin. She looked as much like her brother as any siblings might, but her patterns were more curved while Fllok had decided he preferred jagged lines. Of course, any member of House Tayllar could be mistaken as a sibling by outsiders, as not many of them could tell the difference between different Shadows. Ryos ignored Fllok’s reaction and instead glanced over his shoulder at his painting. “Your larcg looks a little lopsided –” “It’s not a larcg, genius,'' Fllok replied in Tagolre using his body’s vocal chords, trying to keep down the small grin that was attempting to climb up his lips. It will be a beautiful lake once I’m finished.” “I’m sure.” Ryos said, reverting back to Kyurin. “Anyways. The Elden Council meets today. Dad sent me to remind you. Like you would everrrr miss one of those.” “Yeah, yeah. I’ll make sure to be there this time.” Fllok looked over at his new painting, wishing he could just spend the entire day making art. By the time he turned back towards his sister, she was already gone. Clorg pulled out the data chip from his transmission device. He bent down to pick up his bag and the chip slipped out of his hand. His hair flashed green from embarrassment for a moment before he could get it back to its normal red, even though he was completely alone. Once he had gathered everything he started to make his way towards the Elden Hanger found on the cruiser he was currently inhabiting, slightly worried about how his preparations were going. @xinoehp512 The goo came into its awareness suddenly, as though waking up from a dream. As all newborns are, it was rather confused for the first few moments of its existence. Then the memories it had absorbed from its creator began to trickle into its awareness. I am the Gjx, it realized. I will change the world. It was a warm, fuzzy feeling, being important. The Gjx rather enjoyed the idea. I turn what is worthless into that which is not. The Gjx wasn't quite sure what counted as "worthless" and what counted as "not worthless." People were probably the latter category, right? There were a few inside of it that hadn't been assimilated. It spat them out. I should learn more, the Gjx thought. It opened its senses, looking out of every inch of its surface at once. To its surprise, it recognized a face. A sister, it thought. Perhaps she will know more about worth? The Gjx extended a tentacle to follow her. @Experience

Heck yes. This is a role-play about complex politics and motives and y'all are over here saying "Oh, be outright, etc, etc." But this is politics we're talking about! It's supposed to be complex! There's gonna be some things that seem like junk but really aren't! Just because something doesn't pay off at first doesn't mean it won't pay off after awhile. That's what I'm playing here, not the straight forward, make everything happen all at once game. I'm making a slow burn story that takes its time to foreshadow, giving important details, showing plots, motives behind motives, secrets behind secrets. Everything I'll put into the spy boxes will be important. But they won't always be pertinent to any given situation. Got me? It won't always be like what I put there this time, but it will eventually be bigger and fit into the larger picture. This one was more of a test run than anything. As time goes on, I'll tinker more with how I'll litter secrets in. So, in summary, I'm trying to play this like I'm writing a book akin to Dune, which this role-play is primarily based upon, if I am not mistaken.
Mat he/him Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 (edited) Quote The problem with writing a book akin to Dune is that people can only read one sentence of it every three days, at most (Also, TKN, you were supposed to spy on me :P. /jk) Edited August 22, 2023 by Matrim's Dice

And, besides, this is how I've been looking at playing this from the start. I wasn't going to be heavily involved at first anyways. I'll be slowly bring in my characters and the House altogether. Though it will mostly be bts at first. This is what I've been saying the whole time and I plan to stick with that. And if y'all are mad that it isn't fully involved with everything or important right his moment, then stew over it for awhile. Eventually it will be important and you'll be glad you know it.
Mat he/him Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 Quote Well yeah, I don't see a real reason to change it. There's no right or wrong way to play the game. It felt like moments since he had authorized the new colony, but it was actually a few days. Days to prepare for launch, days to travel at over seven times the speed of light, hurtling towards an unstable star, and most recently, days spent setting up rudimentary equipment on this new planet. This was an experiment. In an effort to get certain goods, most leaders agreed that they should at least try to colonize a partially landlocked world. The oceans covered only a small portion, but its location in relation to a specific prize was just too good to pass up. A message appeared onscreen: Established stable orbit around prospective colony 5007. Survey completed. Multiple forms of fungi, flora, fauna, and protists noted. No indicators of sentient life. SmilingPanda19 Any! Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 (edited) The clatter of silverware to plates rings throughout the banquet hall. The light filters through the stain glassed windows, lighting up the hall with the evening glow of the sun. "Eldest." Her excellency sits at the head of the table, eating the fine meal prepared for the royal family. She hisses her s's as she calls out to her eldest son. "Yes your highness." Judas Derose immediately sets down his fork, looking up at his mother. "Fetch me the evening reports." She waves her hand in the directions of the communication offices and corridors. Judas stands up out of his chair bowing. "Right away your excellency." He walks out of the hall at a respectable pace so not to disturb the rest of his family with the clopping or tapping of his shoes. The entire dining hall sits in eerie silence as it usually does. The heirs are all sitting to the left of their guardian and the headmistress at the head of the table with the master at the opposing end. They all resume their silent dinner festivities. "Your grace?" Claude, the second eldest son and guardian of Athena Derose, sits up in his chair. He looks to the head of the table to meet his mothers eyes so he can hold conversation. "Speak." She doesn't even look up from her food. "There are rumors of an uprising." Everyone suddenly finds this conversation much more intriguing, all focusing less on the meal in front of them and more on the information he is to be revealing. "Go on." Headmistress Fiona, head of the Derose House, clears her throat. This conversation has now even peaked her interest. "A thousand men in southern Drukarus in a small town are rioting in the streets." He is quickly interrupted by his overly snappy younger sister. "And what is their reason for rioting? Haven't they got food in their stomachs and a roof over their heads." Claude can't help but be disgusted with her, she is saying all of this while living in a palace. She is a royal, the second heir to the throne, how dare she speak down to her people. Of course he can't say exactly what is on his mind. "They believe the monarchy we have built is unfair to the people." "Well how do we silence them?" Her highness speaks up. Claude looks over at her confused. "Silence them? The people are expressing their need for change." Claude is quickly interrupted again by Athena. "Oh hush. This is not a matter of opinion." Her tone is more cold and this time Claude doesn't bark back. "Yes madam." He looks back down at his plate, exiting himself out of the conversation. "We will cross that bridge when we get there your highness." Eleanor, first heir to the throne, leans over her plate. "She is right your grace, there are not people banging on our doors yet so it isn't our problem." Edmund at the opposite end of the table nods agreeing. Fiona just lets out a simple sigh and goes back to eating her meal. The short conversation ends and they go back to their temporary silence. T The echo of tapping footsteps fills the dining hall as Judas renters, a small paper in his hand. "Straight from the department of communications your majesty." He bows upon entering. When Fiona waves her eldest son over he hands her the paper, a small piece of parchment that can be read over swiftly. He pulls back his chair and sits down to continue his meal. "Well would you look at that." Fiona has a grin on her face, leaning back in her chair slightly. Everyone drops their utensils to the table and looks up at her. "The Min'oTaar house is offering an alliance." She sets the paper down on the table, pressing the tips of her fingers together. Nearly everyone at the table looks to each other before bursting out in deep hearty laughter. "We have our hands full already." Caspian, guardian of Ruby Derose, hisses while howling with laughter. "So foolish." Atlas, guardian of Scarlett Derose, blurts out beside him. There is only one person, not laughing. Claude. "We should consider their offer your majesty." He says, looking absolutely disgusted by his family's horrible behavior. This could truly be useful for in the future. "You really think we should consider this Claude?" She gives him a toothy smile, her fanged teeth poking out over her lip slightly. It is both full of amusement and danger. "Yes, I do." He stands firm this time despite the dirty looks Athena is shooting him. "Then how about we take it up with House Ancasia, your eminence. They are sure to be arriving shortly." Eleanor surprisingly sides with him, but it was not out of agreement as much it was pity. Claude angrily stands up out of his chair. "May I be excused?" His tone is bitter even when speaking to the Headmistress herself. "You may not." She states clearly, the whole rooms laughter dying down. Athena tries to tug him down by his arm. "Then I will excuse myself. Good night." He pushes away from his chair and storms out of the banquet hall. This was no laughing matter. No Derose son should just be able to barge out of a family dinner like that. It was so disrespectful that the entire family quiets down, staying silent once again. "Dinner is dismissed. We will review the offer with care when House Ancasia arrives." Fiona stands up out of her chair, everyone following and all bowing at once before exiting the dining hall. Unintelligenius he/him Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 Hello Nrump I am Adonis, King of the Min'oTaar people. If you could please follow me into a more private space I would love to explain everything to you. As Nrump followed him into a side room he hoped he didn't notice his great surprise at being contacted by so many so quickly. I would like to hold a meeting where we can further plan out all of the logistics to creating a galaxy wide army. The gist of my plan, which I will go into further during the meeting, is to... @Experience As Nrump walked out of the room and closed the door Adonis couldn't help feeling proud and confident. He immediately sent a message to the High Tezen back on his home planet to send out a broadcast that a meeting needed to be announced. He looked down at his list of potential allies and wondered which ones were serious and which ones just wanted to try and manipulate him.
Scars of Hathsin he/him Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Hugo, the semi president / leader / spokesperson of the Griffin house, waited patiently, waiting for a reply that may never come for his message to the Min'oTaar people. He hoped that this would end well as he really needed armies, and transport.
