Sweet, thanks so much! =D

So as I was saying...

while it'd be great for Adolin to settle down finally and I think he and Shallan would have fun together, I'm not thinking the whole engagement thing's gonna work out--it feels more like she's going to get with Kaladin somehow.

Though of course there's what, eight more books coming. Plenty of room for new characters and developments. xD

I first learned about Brandon Sanderson because of Mistborn. GoodReads suggested it to me under the "Kickass Heroine" (if I remember it correctly) category. After finishing the trilogy, I bought the rest of the books that were available on bookstores in my area. Everything he writes is just so awesome.

Well... the fact is that the pattern is repeated on the Stormlight history

Honor-Cultivation-Odium (1Dead)

Gavilar-Navani-Dalinar (1Dead)

Navani-Dalinar-Shshshshsh (¿1Dead?)

So...

Kaladin-Shallan-Adolin (???)

I got into Sanderson when he finished the Wheel of Time.

After finishing A Memory of Light, I picked up Warbreaker and was immediately hooked on the Cosmere.

My BS reading order was: Warbreaker->WOK->WoR->TFE->WoA->HoA->Elantris->AoL->White Sand->6oTD->SoSinFoH->Liar of Partinel (excerpts)->TES

I've reread everything except the novellas.

I first heard of Sanderson when one of my friends-- who works at a library and is always throwing new books at us to try-- lent me a copy of mistborn. I immediately loved it and am now more obsessed with the cosmere and related entities than the one who introduced me to it. Since then I've bought all of sanderson's writings that are out on paperback. I'm also considering getting the audio books for a few.

I was medic while active duty military, and had been voluntold to assist in the yearly flu drive occurring at the hospital where I worked. To escape from the monotony, I had begun reading The Wheel of Time series.

One of the other medics on the flu drive was a huge fan of that series. Like, had-read-through-the-entire-series-at-least-four-times kind of huge fan of the series. He started telling me about how Brandon Sanderson had finished the series, and that Sanderson's Way of Kings was going to become his new favorite fantasy series even though it hadn't been completed yet...basically guy crushing akin to a teenage girl at a Bieber concert. He recommended that I start with the Mistborn trilogy.

After I hit book four of Wheel of Time, I decided to take a break and start the Mistborn trilogy. I was completely blown away. I could go on and on about why I love this series so much. I'm still reading the third one.

I wish I had a better story, but I had to choose a book for summer reading and Steelheart seemed good enough. It was amazing. (funny enough, this was how I discovered Ender's Game). I later received Wok and didn't realize that it was the same author until I realized that Wit has a similar sense of humor to Cody. I then discovered the cosmere, found this, and vowed to read all of Brandon, at least all cosmere.

I originally heard about him when I read the "Babel Clash" article between him and Brent Weeks. I marked him down as an author whose books I wanted to read eventually, but he mostly slipped to the back of my mind. However, one day, at my local Chapters, there was a free booklet celebrating the release of "The Way of Kings" that included the first five chapters of Mistborn: The Final Empire, and Part One of "The Way of Kings. I read the excerpt from "Mistborn" soon after, and it was near Christmas, so I asked for a copy of "Mistborn". I read it a few months later, (I have a very expansive reading list) then bought and read books two and was finished within two weeks, because Brandon Sanderson writes in the kind of way that allows for that.

I'm so glad that the thread is not nearly as awkward as that title.

Anyway, I picked up the Mistborn trilogy on a whim at my local bookstore (yes, they still exist in brick-and-mortar form) and I was instantly hooked as soon as Kelsier sauntered into the skaa hovel.  Since then, I have voraciously torn through everything else Cosmere, up to and including the short stories he's published in the anthologies he's contributed to.  (Not Allomancer Jak, though - it's not published anywhere besides the MAG Alloy of Law supplement, and I haven't found a copy of that)

My first introduction to Brandon was also the final three novels of the Wheel of Time series. I'd been reading that for nearly 15 years, and was not going to start anything else until it was finished. I really enjoyed Brandon's style and change of pace, but didn't think about looking into his other works. Once it was done, a friend recommended Mistborn. However I told myself I was far too busy to start a three book series. Christmas of that year I was given Way of Kings as a gift, but it sat on my shelf for two months before I finally blew off the dust and thumbed through the first couple chapters. Before I knew it I had finished the book and had a "surging" feeling to read Words of Radiance. Before getting even halfway through that I was determined to read more of this man's writings.

My next find was Warbreaker, on his site, which left me "breathless". I quickly purchased the Mistborn trilogy and Alloy of Law, and "burned" through all four in a span of about 3 weeks. That is when my curiosity piqued for a greater understanding of the cosmere, which I had heard so much about. As a result, I resolved to read all related cosmere novels.

To date, I own and have read both Stormlight books, all five currently published Mistborn books, Warbreaker, Elantris, Emporer's Soul, Dragonsteel, the sample chapters of Liar of Partinel, Sixth of the Dusk, and Hope of Elantris. I also have Shadows for Silence, The Eleventh Metal, White Sand, and Aether of Night, but still need to read them, and probably in that order. I'm also incredibly excited for Bands of Mourning, and will keep reading about the cosmere as long as there are books about it.

My first was The Way of Kings. I was reading WoT that time, I read first five books of it then waited for a while before buying other books. When I was empty, I thought that "You're gonna read Sanderson anyway. So why don't you read The Way of Kings and see his actual style?" Then I started it and I fell in love with both series and Sanderson.

Now I've read The Way of King, WoT books, Elantris, Warbreaker. And currently reading Words of Radiance which is perfect. Brandon Sanderson could be the the person I respect most in this world and he is sitting with Robert Jordan on my fantasy writer's throne.

First book I read was The Final Empire. I had been talking to a friend about any good books he'd read lately, and he actually recommended Way of Kings to me. The only thing I remembered from the conversation, however, was "Sanderson", so I looked him up and for whatever reason Amazon or Google or whoever made it seem like the Mistborn trilogy was a better known work by him.

I *really* liked The Final Empire. The allomantic magic system especially intrigued me. At some point early on in The Well of Ascension I poked around on the wiki and discovered The Cosmere. Finding out the story was part of a greater whole was kind of like taking something awesome and slathering it in bacon and guitar solos. I love huge complicated world-building epics (I initially started reading Sanderson to fill in the void between A Song of Ice and Fire books), so my discovery of The Cosmere had me hook, line, and sinker.

I first heard of him years ago from a friend who was reading wheel of time. I refused to read the books because I felt they were too long (super ironic, considering I was a super avid reader even back then in high school. last year I found writing excuses from another friend, then eventually decided to try out way of kings because it was summer and I didn't have much better to do. Stormlight archives is only my second broad epic fantasy after Eragon (seen lotr, but not read the books), fell in love and the rest is history.

My friend was a Sanderson fan (at the time ignorant of the Shard's existence) and managed to get me to read Steelheart. Then Alloy of Law (it kinda messed me up when I read Mistborn). I don't remember what happened next, but I wound up reading WoK, Elantris, etc. Years later, I finally read Mistborn. Alloy of Law and its Harmony references made so much more sense.

Some random guy walked up to me on the street and stuck me with this long needle. I think. Maybe I'm remembering that wrong and it never happened. Anyway, soon after I started hearing the voice of my dead cat Gizmo telling me that I should really read this book called Mistborn. So I did.

The rest is history.

So, I had been in a bit of a reading rut, where I just didn't read much. I was having trouble finding anything that I was interested in, having not yet realized that epic fantasy is totally my jam. Then I saw the ads for Game of Thrones and got excited about the idea of a realistic fantasy series. After seeing an episode or two, I figured that I ought to give the books a shot. After I finished them, I fished around on Amazon for more fantasy books to read, and between a bunch of free or super cheap self-published Kindle books that were hit-and-miss (more miss, to be sure), I happened across Mistborn.

The funny thing is, I did know about The Wheel of Time, and Brandon was already working on finishing it at the time, but I either never saw that or didn't make the connection. I did think about reading WoT, but I was kind of scared of it. I had seen the paperbacks kicking around when I was a young pre-teen/teenager, and I was really intimidated by these huge volumes--as long as any three books that I'd ever read--and seeing stuff like "Book Six" on the covers. I wasn't 13 years old anymore, and the books in A Song of Ice and Fire are all as long as WoT volumes, but I guess that memory stuck with me.

Plus, badmouthing WoT online is something of a pastime for some folks. Around this time, I went online to air my grievances with A Dance with Dragons, and saw a complaint (with which I agreed wholeheartedly) that long sections of the book read as a depressed Tyrion's tedious travelogue. To that, a disillusioned WoT reader replied that they longed for something as interesting as a travelogue in some of the latter volumes of WoT. Having now read the series 3 times, I know that there is nothing as boring as Tyrion's sad-sack travels or page-long descriptions of feasts, but that sure scared me off then.

Anyway, unlike a ton of Sanderfans, The Wheel of Time had nothing to do with my discovery. I didn't know about the Cosmere when I first read the first Mistborn arc, then The Way of Kings and Alloy of Law. Probably because I was also reading a lot of the aforementioned Kindle books at the same time that I picked up The Final Empire and associated it with the pack, I didn't take it all that seriously at first. I devoured the books, but they seemed like a bit too much fun to take seriously. The Stormlight Archive, though, was a totally different story, and as I learned about the Cosmere and everything, I really developed a strong affinity for the books. All because of an HBO show.

I was first exposed to Brandon Sanderson when I was in high school. I had a friend who said I had to read the Alcatraz books, so he lent me his copies, and I loved them. I was reluctant to read his other work after that, though, because I had heard a lot that he did tons of worldbuilding, and being the naive and ignorant high schooler that I was then, I thought that meant tons of boring description. So it wasn't until 2013, after I had moved out to Utah to go to BYU, that I got interested in his epic fantasy. I randomly stumbled upon one of Brandon's signings at the Orem Barnes and Noble and was convinced by other attendees to buy all 4 of the Mistborn books that had been released at that time and get them signed. Once I read those and enjoyed them, I trusted him and his writing ability enough to dive into The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance. The Stormlight Archives being as awesome as they are, they prompted me to start getting my hands on everything else by Brandon I could find, and now I am a devoted Sanderfan. =)

I found out about Brandon about... 14 months ago. Or maybe a little earlier. Between year and a half and a year and two months, anyway. I started seeing in bookstores that huge book with abnormaly big format and pretty small font, cover was quite different and the blurb sounded interesting (and there was "I was delighted by that book. What else I could say." - Patrick Rothfuss). So I thought "I haven't had anything good to read since Wise Man's Fear and Rothfuss says it's good..." and checked the internet and internet said it is truly awesome, so when the time came when family starts asking what I want for Christmass, I pointed my grandma to The Way Of Kings.
I haven't get around to reading it until mid April (first year of university, I was fighting for life there!), but when I got sick for a week, I read it. I was like "Oh my God... There are still miracles unknown in this world". Then I searched a little on the Internet and found out about Cosmere and my brain just kept thinking "Awesome" on the repeat. Then I went on insane hunt through libraries in the city and found one, just one which was still not in the Web which happened to have Elantris, Warbreaker and Mistborns.
Then I bought my mom WoR (she read WoK before I did) and then I got Mistborn for birthday (first of big Cosmere reprint). And two months ago I joined the Shard and month ago became one of the admins of our country fan site. Because people deserve to know what is Realmatic Theory and they won't find out themselves. *goes back to writing article about Investiture*

SO, my story goes like this...

I, one day, finished reading a book called Ranger's Apprentice. Then i got bored, thinking the world no longer had good books to read. THen, my sister said "Read THIS!" and so i read THIS(known as Mistborn, the Final empire) And i was so sad when i finished, an dthen she was like "Well of Ascension!" And i say "THERE'S A SECOND BOOK?" and read, until i get halfway through Alloy of Law(Where i got kind of bored) and my mom says"Midnight release of SoS is happening a few minutes from where wee live!" and i say"Let's go!"

(I read Alcatraz while waiting, 'cuz i saw it on my shelf and and i said "Wait, that's Branddon Sanderson too?") THen at SoS release, i bought WoK and Steelheart, soon after came Rithmatist and Cosmere and Hoid...(I'll read DragonSteel soon) And then i was like"Sanderfan site!" And so, now i am here, doing 17th Shard things. . .

I started the Way of kings just just 6 months ago and ended up reading all the main books on Cosmere since then! And I'm reading Bands of Mourning now!
