My father has corrupted me (and probably most of my family) with theater kid ness

We grew up listening to Joseph and (the LSO version of) Les Mis, with slices of Phantom of the Opera and Pirates of Penzance thrown in, and a hint of Newsies (but the movie version so it counts less), then Jane Eyre joined the mix...

Pirates of Penzance is such a hidden gem

that was a great show to be in

I learned of the existences of Hamilton and Wicked in middle and high school, respectively. I've listened to parts of Hamilton and basically none of Wicked.

Edit: Wait. Does Singing in the Rain (movie) count?

Hehe Wicked was the first Broadway show I ever saw and I saw a Broadway tour of Hamilton last August.

sure! I’m making a set of singing in the rain as if it were set in the Soviet Union right now :))

I'm what you might call a "strong mover" in the musical theatre sphere (not a dancer) but last night at rehearsal we were doing a lot of choreographed patterned movement (spot switching and confuddlement that looks really cool when a group moving in sync does it) and usually I'm just confused and trying to catch up in dance rehearsals but when we all did our in sync spot switching it looked SO COOL and I actually knew what I was doing and I got that shivery feeling you get when you do an awesome harmony.
I've been so sick the last couple weeks and this was my first time back around other people and it was just awesome.

The magic of theatre really is just the magic of friendship/teamwork under another moniker.

Anyways ignore my sappiness

guys i love theatre so much. i know you all already know this. but there are so many amazing shows. so many.

i've recently (or. you know. for the last few months.) been going through a slightly concerning obsession with the actor christian borle. and more specifically, falsettos the musical.

Spoiler

actually i've figured out a very great method where i'll listen to falsettos until i cry and then i listen to all of shakespeare's songs in something rotten to cheer me up again and then i'll go back to falsettos. this loop can, and will, continue for hours.

^^ i recommend this for anyone else equally as obsessed with these somewhat niche musicals

I know this isn't standard theatre, but I'm doing Shakespeare's play the Tempest, and I'm really excited cuz I got cast as Caliban, who is essentially Gollum but comic relief

I LOVE the Tempest, its in my top 3 Shakespeare for sure.
I'm currently playing Bottom in a Midsummer Night's Dream.

(Also i know what you meant but I find it funny that you referred to Shakespeare as not 'standard theatre', the cornerstone of pre-modern/modern western theatre :P)

Hello! I have played one of the sharks in Finding Nemo, Dewey and Judge in Legally Blonde, which, by the way, has now ruined the phrase “oh my god” forever, and Bishop in Frozen.

Thank you! I really liked Bishop- I got to be in a big scene, and I wasn’t in FtFTiF (that choreo was horrible.)

Hear ye, hear ye. All theatre kids unite! This is a club for all theatre kids, everyone is welcome but if you’re a theatre kid you are more welcome:P. Talk about dramatic stuff, life, shows you are in, shows you have been in, shows you wish you were in, musical recommendations, anything really. Just be weird (shouldn’t be to hard).

If this already exists, I’m terribly sorry.
