We do have like a 150 kid ensemble, so we’ll make it work Holy stars that’s huge our entire cast is 20 people which feels big (plus the band)
RoyalBeeMage he/him Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 I just finished my audition for midsummer night dream. I hope I didn’t muck it up. I have too many email chains making my timetable work to allow for rehearsal time. 1

"Theatre-kid" is just a fun term some people who like theatre (musical or not) could use to describe their interest. Anyone who wants to be a theatre kid can be, there aren't really criteria. The theatre loving community, i've found, is one of the most accepting and welcoming there is. You don't need to be a kid to call yourself a theatre one. In fact most of us in this thread probably wouldn't call ourselves kids. Someone who calls themselves a theatre kid could be someone who just listens to showtunes in their room or a wizened dramaturg who's been in countless productions and knows all the trivia about Hamlet, WIcked and Les mis. Also, someone who others might say is a 'theatre-kid" may not classify themselves as such because of negative connotations with the term or anything really. TLDR If you enjoy theatre and want to call yourself a theatre kid, do! Its just a fun term some theatre people like to use to describe themselves.

Godspell. Takes the books Matthew, Mark, Luke and John from the Bible and tells their story without distorting it or making it over-religious. As a Christian and as a theater kid, it is one of my favorites. If you want a different vibe, Singing in the Rain, Bye-Bye Birdie, and the Addams Family are all really good. I love their music. Awww you are lucky, this is my last one till August. Last one ever with some of my best friends…but I have auditions next Friday Well we’ve been open for a week already, we took yesterday and today off and then starting tomorrow we have 4 more shows. It’s sad because I want to relish every second but I’m lowkey sick, not sleeping, and I’m in um I think 20ish credits of college classes right now?? But I love it and wouldn’t trade it for anything, you know how it is 2

I hope you're feeling better!

Quivil Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 My father has corrupted me (and probably most of my family) with theater kid ness We grew up listening to Joseph and (the LSO version of) Les Mis, with slices of Phantom of the Opera and Pirates of Penzance thrown in, and a hint of Newsies (but the movie version so it counts less), then Jane Eyre joined the mix... 2

A cultured one I see
Quivil Posted May 5, 2025 Posted May 5, 2025 (edited) I learned of the existences of Hamilton and Wicked in middle and high school, respectively. I've listened to parts of Hamilton and basically none of Wicked. Edit: Wait. Does Singing in the Rain (movie) count? Edited May 5, 2025 by Quivil
