I woke up at 3am with this question.

Both are currently on Roshar. Nightblood is essentially a Spren with a Command and a ton of investiture. It's limitations are an inability to understand it's Command (what is evil?) or internalise changes (it's creator is dead, etc).

Sja-Anat exists to "enlighten" spren into more than they were. Sja-Anat appears to want to be free of Odium's influence, and nightblood has been able to kill a Vessel.

Do we think there's any potential here?

Well, she's essentially the reason why Taravangian was able to use it to kill Rayse.

Without her corrupted Spren to attract Odium's attention to Taravangian at that time, then Taravangian would have just died from Szeth.

If you mean in a more direct way, then I doubt it. The process she uses to 'Enlighten' Spren would probably not work on Nightblood due to their ability to Consume any Investiture that touches it.

I have a feeling that we've seen the closest Sja-Anat will ever be to Nightblood, which is unnoticed and out of sword swinging range.

Investiture resists other forms of investiture. Nightblood is the most invested object in Cosemere, full of corrupted Breaths. I doubt Sja-Anat has enough investiture to break through, and Nightblood would just consume it anyway. Touching Nightblood might not end well for Sja-Anat.

Perhaps if he was in a food coma, he might be able to have his command changed. Alternatively, if Sja Anat enlightens enough investiture to cycle nightbloods investiture, she might be able to enlighten him or otherwise allow him to change more.

Thread necromancy is against the rules.

If you are continuing the conversation that's one thing, but just posting one line thoughts on topics that have been inactive for months is not allowed.

That should work. In fact, changing Nightblood's Command would be "easy" as a Forgery, though you'd need a LOT of Investiture to make the Forgery stick due to Nightblood's enormous mass of Investiture.

Chris_from_Warrenton (paraphrased)

Would it be possible to Soulforge Nightblood and change the command that was given to him when he was Invested?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

That is possible. That would actually not be a very difficult Soulforge. The problem is, he's Invested. So reInvesting him, which is what Soulforgery is, is really hard. So you'd have to figure out how you could use Forgery on something that is already Invested. But Forgery can get through some of those hoops a lot easier than some other magic systems can.

So Sja-Anat may be able to pull it off if Nightblood's currently in a food coma (probably from offing another one of the Unmade).

Toadium is probably more cautious as well as smarter. Might remain a possibility, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to happen again.

Todioum is smart enough to realize he can drop the shard, have nightblood consume inves from the empty odium, then hop back up, if he worked with Saja Anat.

Honestly, he might not even have to drop the Shard- just use Nightblood and fuel it directly with his Investiture when trying to kill other Vessels.

I meant specifically to try to enlighten him. I agree he could that to kill someone.
