Yeah. But I learnt a lot from Khan Academy and YouTube videos.

You see, I don't learn much in school, because the Victorian Curriculum is very slow. School is still trying to teach me how to multiply fractions 😭

And before anyone else thinks I'm in London, Victoria is a state in Australia.

No I get it. That question was for mippo, 'cause public schoolers are the ones who think school students understanding advanced physics is odd

We should make a list of the organizations/groups and their members.

There are organizations now?

I try to play the viola and fail spectacularly.

The viola tries to play me and spectacularly succeeds

We got the Order of the Sandwich. I don't know about any others.

I play more glockenspiel. Survive by stormlyte.

I one up you and play it 4 mallet on a marimba. Glock is lowkey too piercing and ringy for a funeral. Marimba is the most solemn of the four classic keyboard mallet instruments

Also, hate how tiny the bars are 😭

I can only play glockenspiel. But, well, it's kind of the same thing,

So I help you play marimba.

I kind of agree. I can't hit E-Flat properly half the time.

Off topic percussion yap:

Spoiler

Well, beyond that, you can’t hit the edge of the bar for quick runs, and my personal bell kit (glockenspiel without the pedal) is realllllllly bad, like when I hit a note the two next to it ring

But the school somehow thought me trustworthy enough to let me borrow a 5,000 dollar marimba from them over the summer so I just ignore it.

Still can’t believe it whenever I walk into the music room (yes, we have one of those :P)

Front ensemble yap:

Spoiler

And yeah, if you can play one, it’s the same technique, mostly. With glockenspiel u have to be precise, with the mallets, dynamics, and pedal. With vibraphone you have to be able to hit hard enough to be heard. With Xylophone you have to not overpower everybody and as such be very in time. Finally, marimba is the star of the show (well, from a front ensemble perspective), so must therefore be perfectly in time, hit every note correctly and at the proper volume with the proper velocity on the right part of the bar, be able to lead the group, etc.

Alright. So like a the role of a drum.

Also I can play drums. Kind of. I can do a basic rock beat, I can do rolls, I can do flams.

In my school, it's special because if you're doing percussion you learn both drums and glockenspiel.

That’s not special here

U learn a lot of em here

I’ve played, in class, Marimba, Vibraphone, Xylophone, Glockenspiel, Chimes, Snare, Bass Drum, Timpani, Suspended Cymbal, Crash Cymbals, Piano, Mark Tree, Tambourine, Two Metal Pipes I Hit With A Mallet, Break Drum (metal part of a car tire that you hit with a hammer), Synthesizer, triangle, Cabasa, etc.

Prob more. I just forget. And we have the worst percussion instruments in the county

And then we took 2nd at states two years ago (hadn’t joined yet, but we’re cracked lol)

Spoiler

I’m competent at snare, tried out a marching bass one day and did fine, but I’m suited to mallets after 8 years of piano (I take percussion lessons now but I’m prob 2nd best mallet player out of the school this year, with the only person better than me being the section leader. Only kid in my school to get perfect score at solo/ensemble (with ghost garden) (no, I’m not gonna stop bragging) (maybe we should move to a pm)

I kind of hit a lot of drums. But I haven't played any of these.

I only did music for the first half of this year anyway, and I don't do music again until 2027, because then I can choose my subjects (some of them, at least), and if I decide to I can do music.

Finally another Californian! I'm personally not a fan of my school system, but yours must be better.

I gawk as the viola spectacularly plays ChipsAHoid.
