Fiadh watched the exchange between Whist and the girl as she finished the second apple. Whatever Whist had put on her scrape was working, Fiadh could hardly feel the pain anymore.

Fiadh finished the apple, "Thank you so much Whist." That's what you were supposed to say when someone was nice to you if she remembered correctly.

"Fiadh, where are your parents?" Whist asked, "Are you here alone? I just want to see you home safely, that's all."

Whist had been told the docks could be a dangerous place, and she certainly wasn't leaving this wounded girl her alone.

Nayka glanced around Whist again, and there was her pursuer, coming closer. 

Nayka stumbled back. She’d been seen. She turned to run, but the woman chasing her was faster and caught her wrist. 

Oh, no.

Quest peeked around the tree waiting for the bunny to attack. While doing so, he noticed the vines moving. 

"I KNEW IT! THE VINES ARE ALIVE." 

Quest began to pull out his notebook before reminding himself that the death bunny was attacking.

Great, he knows. But I’ll deal with that later—giant magical bunny of dea-um, of fluffy cotton balls here.

When she finally got behind the bunny, she slunk over, jumped (augmented of course by Eej), and stabbed the bunny in the back with… with the arrow that should have been a spear. Oh well.

Whist gasped "How awful! I'm so sorry!" She pulled Fiadh into hug. 

No parents . . . had she been living on her own all this time? No wonder she had been so hungry . . .

So that women had been following this girl. Something was going on here, but what?

And what to say?? The girl was obviously distressed by being found. The women didn't seem like a mother who had found her lost child, in fact, she had an almost sinister air about her.

Whist may have come to this island for stupid reasons, but that wouldn't stop her from doing what she had always done.

Helping people.

Time to do something Whist was terrible at. Lying.

"Shes . . . an acquaintance, how do you know her?" Whist asked, knowing she was probably treading dangerous ground.

As the arrow pierced the Bunny’s back, it unleashed the concentrated wind. It blasted into a sphere of force with an ear-splitting CRACK, throwing everything nearby out into a chaos of debris.

Nayka: whimpering “I don’t—“ holds out her empty hands

Woman searches her “WHERE DID YOU HIDE IT?” 

Nayka: “I didn’t!”

Crap… Vance had his ears covered, but watched Bunny Lady’s body soar over his head into a tree. I told her to duck! Freaking magic Bunny…

The shockwave subsided, and Vance wasted no time on regaining his bearings. “Quest! Draw its attention!”

A mass of living vines crawled toward him, surprisingly fast, then stopped short of his boot, waving desperately.

Quest weathers the blast from behind the tree and is distorted from the shockwave. With ringing ears he struggles to hear what that short fellow is screaming at him. Panicked he jumps out from behind the tree. He throws the fireballs he had been summoning at the bunny and rushes over to Kealie to try and help her.

Whist decided she wouldn't deal with all this confusing nonsense anymore, time for some straight answers.

So, putting on her best "authoritative" voice she butted in.

"Please, my friend, lets try to talk this out, calm down" she said to the woman.

 Then turning towards the girl, "you didn't what?"

Quest grabs the green ball of light that was floating around him. He moves it over Kealie, the light fading as its healing properties set to work. Quests glances back hoping that Vance has things in hand with the bunny.

Kealie sits up “Wow… that was crazy…” bolts up “WHERE’S EEJ? EEJ!”

The vines by Vance’s boot streak back to Kealie and cling to her leg. Kealie grabs a vine with her hand, relieved. “Thanks, Quest.”

Well… it worked. Somehow. The bunny roared at Quest, taking its eyes off Vance for the time being.

He ran at the bunny, touching at the reserve of power lurking within him. He’d been saving this for… how long? Two weeks? He’d last used it on that sprint contest… against the rules…

So not much. Whatever. It would have to do.

My first strikes didn’t do squat against that thing, he thought, closing the distance. Of course they wouldn’t: for a creature of that size, gashes like those would only be like scratches.

He focused the stored-up energy into the power of the wind around him. Like the bunny’s power before, the air around his blade stilled… then condensed, compressing around it, a dozen times more potent per inch than the Bunny’s attack.

Take this, Bunny!

Vance slashed across its head, a strike fueled by his hours of saved energy - and then some - pushed into a shockwave behind the blade. A tempest of dust and leaves cast out into an arc, cutting hard and deep into the Bunny’s head.

Kealie: sighs and takes up her arrow, stalking toward the bunny and assuming it was distracted.

Quest pulled up his cloak to shield him from the maelstrom of dust that blew through the clearing. But the bunny somehow wasn't dead. 

"I don't know how someone can top that." Quest thought as he got to his feet. He began summoning more fireballs when he felt something odd. He felt something welling in his stomach and looked around confused. 

Quest proceeded to throw up on the tree behind him, emptying the contents of his stomach. Maybe those berries were poisonous after all.
