Chloris Valekev (Chlo, for short)

Spoiler

name: Chloris Valekev, named after the last living Niobid.

Appearance: A half Iriali woman, with tan skin and yellow eyes and dyed black pixie-cut hair. She is 29 in age, and wears a brown leather jacket. She has a very emo/punk aesthetic. When she uses her powers, here eyes often turn black.
Personality: she is fairly aloof, but is generally going to be quite friendly. As an ex-Edgedancer, she looks out and helps others. However, she has deep trauma, for a variety of things, and is currently in an abusive relationship.

Concept: A midnight essence spore-eater that is in an abusive relationship with the essence (who is also an ex-Edgedancer who killed their own spren).

Motivation (Short & long term goal): for the most part, her goal is to stay alive. How, she does not know, but water helps. Long term she wants to be happy, which she is not getting right now.

Merits: Is a midnight essence spore-eater whom she’s formed a deeper connection with. Aside from protecting her from most forms of harm, she can also use the midnight essence as a tool, from reconnaissance to weaponry. The weaponry, while sharp, can also be quite brittle, and would break into smoke with force.

additionally, Chloris is armed with a dead shardblade, belonging to her former spren. She uses it rarely, as it gives her a great deal of emotional pain to wield.

She’s also a trained techie, and can build and hack a great deal of technologies.

Currently wears a small visual scanner visor, which acts as a sort of database, only giving information on what she already knows about. Handy in a pinch, and is great for building a profile on someone or something, but is not particularly powerful. Is voice activated, and has a rudimentary A.I., enabling on the fly editing to the database without requiring input. This allows her to gather information and know things happening around her without paying full attention.

Overall, is a kind soul that just wants to help people. However, she is currently (as in for around five years) been having a crisis of faith, with a push for selfishness over selflessness.

Flaws: has deep trauma. Her life has been surrounded by death bring just around the corner, and in so many different forms. She has childhood, teenaged, family, adult, and relationship trauma. A lot to unpack, tbh.

Because of aforementioned trauma, she is not particularly decisive, and is in a very vulnerable situation at the moment. She is being preyed upon by her spore, and is not in a good place. She tries to play it off, but she needs help.

Aside from all that, she is also nearing death from spore-eater things. She has had around 6 months of midnight-essence consuming her, and the main thing keeping her alive is absurd fluid intake and residual investedness from being a radiant for quite a while.

Relationships (Eg. Family and Friends): was an orphan at a young age, and has tried to avoid forming meaningful connections. However, it is in her nature to connect with others, and can’t help but help them. She was bonded to Gideon as an Edgedancer, and now carries his blade with her. She is currently bonded to Minthe, who she has an abusive relationship with.

Home Planet: Vedenar, Roshar, but of both Veden and Iriali descent. Born in the Cosmere space age.

Current Residence: drifting from place to place, renting a place to sleep and getting money where they can.
Backstory: Chloris was born on Vedenar during the Cosmere space age. Her Iriali mother died when Chloris was a baby due to sickness, so she was raised by her Veden father. She lived with him in poverty until her father died from a gang attack when Chloris was 15, which started her path to becoming a radiant. At 16, she bonded Gideon, a Cultivationspren that served as a mentor and fatherly figure for her. She joined the order of Edgedancers at age 17, where she found friends and made a pseudo-family.

A terrible accident occurred at age 22, where her entire squad was killed. This began her descent into breaking her oaths. She abandoned the radiants, feeling that her cause was hopeless. Over the course of two years, Gideon became a deadeye, and Chloris lost hope nearly completely. She moved off world, winding up on Lumar. She spent three years wandering from place to place, taking down piracy here and there, but mostly staying to herself.

At the age of 28, she was forcefully bonded to Minthe, a midnight essence. Minthe provided protection and company, and acted as a protector that Chloris badly needed. Two months after her bonding, she fell into the Alleyverse. She’s been in the Alleyverse for four months, and is getting by, but not by much. Her reliance on Minthe has become worrisome, and she is controlling Chloris’ actions more and more. As Minthe becomes more manipulative, her need for water grows…

Loose ends (What is unfinished in their life?): she has been bouncing from home to home for most of her life, and is in dire need of family. She also needs to kind of survive for another year, which is already beginning to be a concern.

Theme song: Tourniquet by Evanescence. Perfectly encapsulates her vibe.

Hey, interesting character concept! Couple notes:

First, I'm not sure how conscious Midnight Essence is - doesn't mean she can't have an abusive relationship with it, but I am unsure how much it would be directly trying to manipulate her? However, this is also untrod ground, so there's room.

I'd want to make sure that you had specific ideas in mind for what her trauma looks like and how it affects her and not just "she's super traumatized by all the things", I trust that you have thoughts on it and don't just intend to play her generically or disrespectfully but it's a little vague as is.

Everything else looks good!

Yeah, that’s frankly my thought too. I’m straddling the line between spore and full Aether, and I’m not sure how great that is. However, the best option to fix that would be to go full Aetherbound, which would be pushing further into unknowns

Yeah, I certainly have ideas for how her trauma will affect her character. However, given that it was already quite long, I didn’t want to overstuff it. Plus, I’ll get a clearer picture of her trauma and its manifestations as I roleplay. But I will certainly not be disrespectful about it (at least not intentionally!).

For the time being, it’s safe to say that she

-has issues forming meaningful connections with others due to fear of losing them

-Has at least some form of PTSD due to I mean, you name it (being orphaned, losing all of her friends, killing her spren).

-unresolved grief from Gideon definitely, and potential unresolved grief from losing her friends and family

-Is clingy to those that she does have connections to, which is for now only Minthe.

-likely has dissociated from reality in some way due to all of the grief she has experienced over the years

Again, further specifics on how those develop will be ironed out in roleplay, and will likely have some other issues as well. I will try not to dabble my toes outside of what I’m knowledgeable in, and will definitely do research on something if I do plan on using it as a facet of her character.

Name: Eleos

Appearance: tall (anywhere between 6'4 and 6'6). amber eyes(a light glowing amber. the colour of the stonewards's armor.) and blond hair. he weres a gold coloured Takama with the stonewards emblem on the back. he has a small non hemelurgic copper earring with a small topaz implanted into it. he carries himself with a slightly noble confident air that demands attention from all who see him. he has a small sword strapped to his side.

Guild (or intended guild): unaffiliated open to joining one later down the line.

Personality: works amazingly in a team. has great team dynamics. skilled at working with others and being there for those who need him. he seeks to take a difficult situation with few resources and make the best of it. strives to exemplify dependability, strength and resolve. when dealing with those below him he shows benevolice and always tries to help those in need. he treats his equils an betters with respect. he also has a smidge of resentment for his betters as he feels that they aren't doing there part to help the community. he tends to show his emotions on his sleeves.

Concept: a stoneward mercenary who loves giving to the poor.

Motivation (Short & long term goal): his short term goal is to work out how to swear the next ideal and giving to the poor. his long term goals are to climb up to the top of the uritiru higherarcy and help everyone who is homeless in the sphere and prehapes in nearby districts. he would help the whole city but he knows that he would die of old age long before that could happen.

Merits: his major merit is being a second ideal stoneward. his normal merits are that he is skilled with a sword and is good at creating weapons out of stone. his minor merits is that he can only summon his living shardblade as a hammer. he also has a high effeshency at using stormlight as if he was at the 5th ideal.

Flaws: he finds it oddly impossible to summon granite as anything but a hammer. he will not make a killing shot. if it is possible he would rather just brake a few bones or knock them unconsius. if he sees anyone in need and he has some loose change he will give it away to a random group of homeless he happens to walk past.

Relationships (Eg. Family and Friends): spren: has a good bond with his spren granite. they get along together. he looks up to his spren for wisdom and advice. family: has a bad relationship with his family. he gets a small amount of money each month but beyond that for all intent and purposes he has been disowned. he is a little bit jealous of radients with higher ideals as he has been stuck for a long time at second.

Home Planet: roshar, alethi

Current Residence: a new place in the sphere called new urithiru. he is provided with a bed and food so long as he complies and fits into the higherarcy that exists in the tower.

Backstory: roy used to be a noble before his radient powers first manifested. when his parents found out they disowned him because they where good strong scadial stock and thought that any powers other than allomancy or ferucemistry were useless and bad. after he was disowned he moved to new urithiru where he was trained in his power and also taught how to use a sword.

Loose ends (What is unfinished in their life?): he wants to reunite with his parents and try and explain to them that radients aren't bad.

So three things:

1. I like the character idea! I think it could be quite interesting, and could certainly go places!

2. What would using Stormlight with the efficiency of a fifth ideal radiant do?

3. You say he is of Scadrian noble descent, but was born on Roshar. How did that work?
An easy out would be to have your character be born in Alleycity to Scadrians, and then disowned due to forming a bond. However, that still brings the question of what made the Scadrian parents so opposed to radiants.

so we know that kalidin started using less and less stormlight to power his flight it would be something like that. i would be able to do a lot of things with less stormlight

a radient is the reason that they where forced to move to allycity. it was actually a voidbinder but they didn't know the difference. what happened is that the voidbinder attacked their mansion.

Gotcha. That makes sense, and is fine as a minor merit. One thing I would point out though is that merits can also be skills and personality quirks that someone has, and not just magic related. For example, working amazingly as a team works as a solid minor/normal merit for a character.

Frankly, I’m going to need this part of the backstory explained in more detail. Are the parents full born Scadrians? Did they live on Scadrial? Was the attack one made on Scadrial itself? What time period in the Cosmere did this happen? And how come your character is Alethi? Were they adopted?

This is something worth fleshing out, and it can help me get a better grasp of how this character came to be the way they are.

Additionally, the timeframe and age of Eleos when they bonded Granite would also be useful.

ok yep no i compleatly missed that. so yes he was adopted by the scadrian parents. he was brought to scadrial by a worldhopper who also brought granite with him to give eleos something to remind him of his old home roshar. he was disowned at about 16. a fused followed them/was sent by odium. this would be happening sometime after the catarcance and during the true desolation. if that aligns up with the allyverse timeline. he was a squire for a long time till he got to age 14 and fully bonded with granite making him a full radient. don't know if that kind of squireship works but lets just say it was something simular to kalidin before he knew that sly existed while still drinking in stormlight.

A few things stand out with that.

1. As of the Catacendre, Rosharans have not yet discovered how to transfer Stormlight off-world, let alone something as invested and tied to the world as a spren.

2. The Alleyverse pulls from any timeline in any of Brandon’s worlds, so that’s not an issue, if that’s what you’re worried about.

3. Why would a worldhopper drop them off? What’s their motive?

If what you want is a Scadrian family disowning a Rosharan child for being a radiant due to previous family trauma, I would recommend either setting it in the space age or setting the family in the Alleyverse. I think the former would allow for good reason for there to be prejudice between Scadrians and Rosharans, but would make it a bit hard to justify a Scadrian family adopting an Alethi child and then generalizing radiants as all evil.

If you want to do some further brainstorming for the logistics of the backstory, I recommend either moving this conversation to DMs or the character discussion thread to not clog up this thread.

@Koloss17

Are the loose ends a remnant of the previous character sheet? I assume they still want to reunite with their parents, just not that they think Radiants are bad.

Other than that, it looks good! Approved!

I have a question about the Alleys. Do the alleys lead to other cities on the world? Where is the starting city? The magic system is slightly confusing. Also is there a king of the Alleycity?

Anyways, I was told some law enforcement was needed, so

Spoiler

Name: Frisian

Appearance: Frisian looks like the kind of person that is scheming to take over the world. Which is not entirley false. He's of average height, and his skin is paler that that of a normal Herdazian. He has curly brown hair that tumbles past his shoulders, and a confident face that always seems to know more than you think.

Guild: None, apart from his own dreams of a creating mercenary army.

Personality: Frisian is calculating young man who sees the big city as a way to show himself off to the world. He doesn't show that on his face, however. Frisian is very confident. He act like he always is one step ahead of you, offestting his enemies. He hopes to start as the head of the police force and take off with it, eventually building a massive mercenary force that is used primarily to police the entire Alleyverse. He expects greatness for himself, and won't settle for anything less.

Motivation: Primarily to protect the entire world. He takes his oaths very seriously. Secondarily, he wants influence over the world. He realizes that he can't directly take over the world, and perhaps it will be enough to have his mercenaries in every kingdom on the planet.

Merits: Minor: confidence, solider's training and martial demeanor. Normal: fortune Major: seeking world influence, second ideal windrunner.

Flaws: Frisian is power hungry. He will do whatever it takes, short of massacre, to gain influence and money. He's also insecure about this, however. He thinks that his persuit is not something a knight radiant should be chasing, despite his spren telling him that he has good intentions. This insecurity means that he tries his best to keep his ideas secret. He would be devestated if someone were to confront him with it. He's also insecure about his spike, believing that it isn't honorable to be holding a piece of another's soul to his own - even the soul of someone he loved.

Relationships: He has a squire, a teenager named Kalack. The kid is ambitious as he is, and hopes to serve at Frisian's right hand when his mercenary enpire is set up. He is very loyal, but he can't see the same value in the oaths as Frisian himself does. He doesn't understand why Frisian cares so much about protecting people. Frisian's spren, Talamar, is also supportive of Frisian. He doesn't necessarily condone Frisian's goals, but he doesn't deny that they are made with good motive.

Home Planet: Roshar (Herdaz). His father grew up in the alleyverse and his father's ancestors were originally from Scadrial. Kalack, his squire, is from Jah Kaved.

Current Residence: None yet, though he intends to requisition a barrack when he becomes the leader of the constabulary. He's currently staying in the Scadrian district.

Abilities: Windrunner of the second ideal. Spinner ferring, power gained hemalurgucally.

History: Frisian is the son of a whore. He was left to the streets with a few coins almost when he could walk, and grew up in an orphanage. When he was ten, the orphanage kicked him out because he couldn't pay. As he grew up, he got more and more tired of seeing people (including himslef) get mugged, robbed, and raped. One day, he saw another kid, a couple years younger, getting beat up by some older guys. Frisian related to the boy. He had been that same boy once. So, he picked up an old plank and attacked the guys. Scared and drunk, the men scurried off.

Frisian took the kid in, and soon realized that he liked protecting people. He would go around, beating up bullies and standing up for the downtrodden.

In his late teens, Frisian was able to track down his father, who sold shoes. He found him on his deathbed, croaking that he wanted to see his son. He did not expect to find Frisian. Frisian explained his story, and his father reckognized him because of the resemblance. crying, he embraced his father. In the following hours, he explained that Frisian's father had grown up in a mythical place known as the alleyverse. His great-great grandfather had been teleported there from Scadrial.

His father also revealed that he had one of the mythical powers of Scadrial; that of feruchemical Chromium. The next day, when Frisian visited, he found his father dying. His father explained how Frisian could gain the feruchemical ability of Chromium by using the spike he had in the drawer. Frisian refused, but could see the logic in it. He said his goodbyes, and with his father's blessing, he took the power. If anything, it allowed him to keep a piece of the man with him all the time. Even so, it still haunts him that he killed his father and pinned his soul to Frisian's.

He soon bonded an horonspren, and took the kid, who's name was Kalack, in as his squire. He intended to reveal himself at a stertegic time, as to get the most possible leverage out of his ability. Unfortunatley, he was never able to. That night, he dreamed of the mysterous universe described by his father. A wacky world where alleys hid portals to alternate dimensions. He and his quire woke up the next morning to find that they had truly been teleported there.

He decided not to try and go back. He had wanted to stay on Roshar, but perhaps Adonalsium had willed him to come here, the place where his father had been born.

Appearance: Strong, determined build and an intimidating face. Frisian makes you want to obey him. He has shoulder-length black hair and blazing green eyes that fade when he hasn's summoned Talamar in a while. His skin is the dark tan of his Herdazian heratige, and something about it tells you that he knows how to work hard.

Guild: TBD

Personality: Frisian is calculating young man who sees the big city as a way to show himself off to the world. He doesn't show that on his face, however.

Merits: Minor: Law enforcement official, windrunner, rosharan. Major: seeking world influence.

Kalack is from Jah Kaved.

Current Residence: None yet, though he intends to requisition a barrack when he becomes the leader of the constabulary.

Abilities: Windrunner of the second ideal. Spinner ferring.

Scared and drunk, the men surried off.

Frisian took the kid in, and soon realized that he liked protecting people. He would go around, beating up bullies and standing up for the downtrodden. He soon bonded an horonspren, and took the kid, who's name was Kalack, in as his squire. As he rose up the ranks, he found his thirst for power. Before he could reveal his powers to the monarchy, however, he was whisked away in a dream to a strange world, where portals lurked in alleys. He woke up to find that he and his squire were in that universe.

Alright, let me first answer your questions, and then I shall get on to the character itself. For future reference, these sorts of questions are best asked in the chat thread, but I do not mind all that much.

1) the Alleys can lead to pretty much anywhere! They are tears in the fabric of the Alleyverse that are remnants of when Voidus created the world. So theoretically, yes. Now, generally speaking, you need to be quite skilled in traversing the Alleys to actually get where you want to go, and it is often quite dangerous, so few other than members of the Dark Alleys intentionally traverse them. That’s not to discourage you, just to seed a bit of worldbuilding for ya.

2) Alleycity is the “starting” city, and for the most part that’s where the story resides. That’s not to say that you can’t go to other cities on Alleyplanet, it is just that those places are largely unexplored, and that the action is all in Alleycity. If you want to have a bit of an adventure in other cities, let me know and I can ask about some more details, but generally we keep our RP to one city.

The city has a mayor, if I recall, and you are more than welcome to give a personality and name to the currently unnamed narrator. The most powerful being in the Alleyverse is of course the virtually all powerful god Voidus, but he generally has more important things to do than interfere in the affairs and going ons of the city (also, he hasn’t been RPed in over a year).

As for the character, it’s looking pretty good! I only have a few questions:

what’s the story behind the fact that they are a spinner? It seems like an odd addition to the character. Also, how did they discover that they are a spinner on Roshar? Unless we’re talking space-age (which is allowed), the methods of discovering their Scadrian abilities are pretty slim.

It is not approved yet, but it’s pretty close!

Oh sorry, I completely forgot to mention! It is a hemallurgic power. His father was originally from the alleyverse, and he was descended from scadrians. He manifested chromium ferruchemy, but Frisian had no powers. Frisian found his father before he died, and explained that he was his son. His father believed him due to the resemblance. As a parting gift, his father allowed Frisian to take his feruchemy through hemallurgy.

Frisian couldn't afford to get off world while on the streets. He had been intending to stay on Roshar after his bond, but he decided not to go back after being pulled to the alleyverse because he thought it was perhaps Adonalsium pulling him back to his father's home.

That looks pretty good! For future reference, I would say that your merits would be

-Major: second ideal Windrunner

-Normal: fortune

-minor: confidence, general soldier’s training and demeanor

But other than mild formatting errors, I’d say this is Approved!

If ya haven’t check out the guide to the Alleyverse post, I would do that. Otherwise, feel free to jump on in! The collaboration thread is a great place to ask for RP, and you are more than welcome to interact with my characters (which I’d recommend talking about in either DMs or the collab thread)

Can you specify what I can fix to make this character as optimized as possible? Thanks!

I mean, at this point it just boils down to roleplaying. You have a solid base for a character, you just need to fill in the fine details. And frankly, that’s the sort of thing you do through roleplaying with the character, as there’s only so much you can do through hypotheticals. Get out there and ‘optimize’!

FYI: I have just edited the character template. Most of the adjustments are minor, but the biggest is shifting from guilds to affiliations. Since guilds are not particularly prevalent in the current story (though that is subject to change), and many characters are employing or being employed by other characters, I feel that having an affiliations section would better suit things.

There is no need to edit character sheets that are already approved, as this is just for ease of character creation for newcomers.

Hello all. I am officially submitting my character for Approval in the Alleyverse. All details should be below, with a few notes expanded outside the quote.

Quote

Name:
Eighth of the Eve

Appearance:
A withdrawn man in his late twenties, pitch-black eyes, and dark, braided shoulder-length hair with colorful plumes woven in. Currently wears muted Idrian clothing, with the only clothing from his home being a leather tracker’s coat. Strewn about his person are a collection of tools he has acquired in his travels.

Affiliations:
Eighth currently works for no one and is in debt to no one.

Personality:
As a person, Eighth struggles with the traditional expectations placed on an Eelakin tracker. He enjoys poetry and song, but can hardly indulge in either on the Pantheon. His niece longed to become a tracker—for Patji, no less—and he was forced to turn her down, a choice that drove a wedge between them.
This came to a head after falling in love with an outsider. Eighth chose to marry Elmina Smedry, and before he could come to terms with that choice, he was ripped away from home. Eighth currently believes Patji could not stomach a heretic priest for one of His Children, and thus banished him from First of the Sun. As such, he tries his best to model the Eelakin ideal, even after being forced to collect tools along his travels to ensure his survival.

Concept:
A confused intergalactic exile trying to get home.

Motivation:
In the short term, he currently seeks to embody the Eelakin ideal.
In the long term, Eighth is trying to find his way back home. On one level, he longs to return to First of the Sun. At the same time, he yearns to reunite with his wife.

Merits:
Eelakin tracking (Major)
Aviar-granted reflexes (Normal)
Rtich motivator (Normal)
Detritian light-line (Minor)
Unsealed ironmind (Minor)
Zinkall (Minor)

Flaws:
Smedry Talent: Getting lost in daydreams
 - Practically manifests as teleportation, especially to other worlds
 - Uncontrollable, given his a) lack of understanding and b) zero experience
Eelakin Traditions:
 - Avoids overly advanced tech
 - Eschews speech as much as possible
 - Judges those he perceives as "talkative"
Alleyverse Newbie:
 - Little Cosmere knowledge (except for First of the Sun)
 - Practically no Cytoverse knowledge
 - Nearly zero Reckonerverse knowledge
 - Amusingly, almost no Free Kingdom knowledge
 - Zero Rithmatist knowledge

Relationships:
Elmina Smedry - Wife
 - Loves her, sincerely
 - Hasn't seen her since his "exile" from the Drominad system
 - Keeps catching glimpses of her as he worldhops
 - Convinced she is also offworld
Fourth of the Fall - Niece
 - Favorite relative (non-romantic, obviously)
 - Turned down her request to learn tracking
 - Since his "exile" regrets his actions

Home Planet:
First of the Sun

Current Residence:
Wherever is most convenient. Currently, he beds down in the Corridor.

Backstory:
Born as the eighth child in a large family, Eighth of the Eve sought to distinguish himself (if only unconsciously) from his dozen siblings. He did his best to be the ideal Eelakin child. Despite his love of words and poetry, he maintained an impenetrable silence. He had raised several birds by the age of seven (not Aviar, obviously), was an unparalleled swimmer, and excellent. He managed to convince his uncle to train him a full year earlier than most, and completed his training swiftly. While on an expedition in Lokui, he found an injured Aviar chick, whom he nursed back to health. He would eventually take the chick to Patji with his uncle, and when the time came to choose his island, he once more returned to Lokui.

Eighth did well as a trapper, helping to support his family. He took on a few apprentices, but was forced to reject his beloved niece. She withdrew, hurt, but he knew the unspoken rules. He even brought her an Aviar chick by way of apology, but she still refused to speak with him. Indeed, he grew rather distant from much of his family.

One day, while making his rounds of Lokui, he found one of his traps triggered not by a fellow trapper, but by a young women with strange clothing, odd glasses, and otherworldly features. He rescued her and safely escorted her back to a safecamp, pausing to save her from deadly threats no less than seven times. He nursed her back to health over the course of several weeks, in which time the two came to know each other. She was entranced by the capability and kindness Eighth displayed. He loved her for her way with words and her honesty, among other things. And so, after much internal debate, Eighth proposed to her, and she accepted.

The two married on the shores of Lokui. For once, his family accepted his invitation, and came to witness the marriage. No one seems to care for the tradition Eighth spited that day, though a few trappers muttered darkly. The time came, and for some reason, the woman insisted on giving Eighth a ring, rather than a ring. Amused, Eighth held out his hand. The moment Elmina Smedry placed the ring on his finger, however, everything went wrong.

Eighth was ripped from First of the Sun. He had a vague sense of seeing numerous worlds, near enough to touch yet impossibly distant. Finally, he fell, and as though startling awake from a daydream, he came to his senses in a strange world. A world of tunnels and endless rock, infested with oddly mute meeks, with strange pockets of civilization sprinkled throughout. Odd ships sailed the skies there, though the sky itself seemed to be underground.

Thus began the series of intergalactic jumps Eighth of the Eve experienced. He left that world of caverns with a strange bracelet, capable of producing endless amounts of seemingly unbreakable rope (which glowed, of all things). This would come to set the pattern for Eighth. Just as he made progress in one world, he would find himself awakening in some ungodly land, where the sand might be white, or little gods tried to kill each other, or odd ships which flew on metals. Yes, metals.

Eventually, the interplanetary hops grew less frequent, and Eighth was able to make progress. In his travels, he had determined that only Patji could have been responsible for his exile. For that was what it was, exile. He was being thrust further and further from the Pantheon, and was now far enough that Patji had lessened its punishment. By violating tradition, Eighth had doomed himself to never again return to the Children of Patji.

Still, he tries to make it home. Tries to find his wife, whom he's caught but glimpses of throughout his travels. Tries to be a better Eelakin, worthy of returning home. Even now, cast far from the Drominad system, in search of the love of his life, he tries to maintain the face of a traditional Eelakin tracker. At the same time, he recognizes the need for allies, and so walks the thin line of necessary interaction and traditional solitude. A man of contradictions, Eighth is.

Loose Ends:
Eighth still has yet to reunite with his wife, someone he dearly loves.
By marrying an outsider, he has broken tradition, reflective of a broader conflict within him of traditionalism versus progressiveness.
Still hasn't made it home, despite his efforts.
Keeps spotting Elmina Smedry as he worldhops, but is unable to meet her.

Note on the Smedry talent:
It's been nearly three months since Eighth's "talent" activated, transporting him from the airships of Southern Scadrial to the middle of the Underground. Since then, he's tried to make his way through this strange land, glad to be in a place he can finally speak and be understood.
Note that worldhopping-level teleportation is not the only function this particular Smedry talent could serve. In the hands of an inexperienced, unwitting owner, however, this most basic function is likely the only that will manifest for some time.

Note on the Rtich motivator:
Eighth's talent dragged him into the midst of the events of [Spoilers for Calamity]

Spoiler

The Reckoner's final stand against Prof, right about where Megan began dipping into various realities.

This was his shortest worldhopping experience, being only a few minutes. He was close enough to Abraham that when [Spoiler again for Calamity]

Spoiler

Prof cut off Abraham's arm, Rtich and all

Eighth recovered the Rtich motivator. He saw enough to get an idea for how it's used, but hasn't practiced nor innovated too much.

Note on the unsealed ironmind:
Despite both the Brunstell and Wilg carrying specifically dual-metal medallions (either iron and brass, or iron and duralumin), I have chosen to have either have Eighth possess an iron-only medallion, or else be unaware of the other power present (conveniently leaving myself leeway for any RP).
Further, for the sake of gameplay, I assume that Eighth can only store weight, not tap it. I do this because:

  1. There is evidence to support the theory that unsealed metalminds cannot provide both storing and tapping, only one or the other
  2. As a means of mitigating power levels. This might change down the road, with the justification that Eighth was only aware of the storing capability of the ironmind, and thus limited by the laws of Intent.

Further, RP will assume that it is difficult to Allomantically Push or Pull on the medallion. Again,

  1. We are assuming Eighth only stores iron Feruchemically, meaning the iron medallion should never have been depleted by him.
  2. The medallion would have been used previously, and so would already have been heavily Invested.
  3. It's a safe bet to say the nicrosilmind would have been heavily Invested.

I think this looks good! The only wondering I have is the level of adeptness that Eighth is with his motivator. But either way, I think it’s fairly safe to approve this. He’s in depth, interesting, unique, and about the power level of a radiant, without the healing.

Approved!

An excellent question, one I should address before anything else. By the timeline I've set forth, Eighth would have barely seen the Rtich in action, and that was in a chaotic battlefield where reality itself was disintegrating.

For this reason, and for the sake of a balanced character, he knows how to move mercury around, but can't form specific shapes yet. That would have to be learned, either through mundane experimentation or on-they-fly improvisation. Whichever comes first.

Okay, in the time since I created this character, I thought up a few changes. Since I don't want to force anyone to spend an hour going back and forth to find those little things, I'll post those changes in list form, in rough order of importance, with the updated character sheet hidden in a spoiler box purely for future reference. Cool? Cool.

Character Changes

  1. His Smedry Talent has not triggered for some time. This is significant.
  2. His Aviar no longer gives him enhanced reflexes. Instead, it gives him the ability to find the best route between two points. The steps he needs to take almost seem to play out before his eyes. Think of a cross between A-Electrum and Dresden-esque intellectus. These would avoid obvious hazards, but does not supernaturally guarantee safety.
  3. It is a bit of a point of contention for him that his skills as a tracker are nearly useless in this advanced society. Inspired by this video. It's nothing huge, but I thought it a nice addition.
  4. I somehow complete forgot to describe his Aviar. Her name is Seiju. Out of laziness, she's colored like this.
  5. He has a few odds and ends that are nonspecifically useful. Again, nothing huge, just offworld items taking the place of everyday objects, like a genuine Herdazian sparkflicker. This means he has some valuable stuff. He has, for example, traded Taldaini sand in the past.
  6. Without magically enhanced reflexes, he cannot dodge bullets or block them with his Rtich or anything. I seriously considered giving him Warrior's Lenses to cover this, but decided not to. I hope you appreciate that (joking).

In the hands of an inexperienced, unwitting owner, however, this most basic function is likely the only one that will manifest for some time. He refers to these occasions as his Travels.

Note on the Rtich motivator:
Eighth's talent dragged him into the midst of the events of [Spoilers for Calamity]

This was his shortest worldhopping experience, being only a few minutes. He was close enough to Abraham that when [Spoiler again for Calamity]

Eighth recovered the motivator.

Oh, and I'm sort of assuming the Rtich resists Allomancy. Not like it's Invested or anything, more like it's extremely heavy. Once Eighth becomes aware of Allomantic influence, he could use the motivator to hold it in place, resisting Steelpushes and Ironpulls. In theory.

Note on the unsealed ironmind:
Despite both Brunstell and Wilg carrying specifically dual-metal medallions (either F-Iron and F-Brass, or F-Iron and F-Duralumin), I have chosen to have either have Eighth possess an iron-only medallion, or else be unaware of the other power present (conveniently leaving myself leeway for any RP).
Further, for the sake of gameplay, I assume that Eighth can only store weight, not tap it. I do this because:

  1. There is evidence to support the theory that unsealed metalminds cannot provide both storing and tapping, only one or the other.
  2. As a means of mitigating power levels. This might change down the road, with the justification that Eighth was only aware of the storing capability of the ironmind, and thus limited by the Cosmeric laws of Intent.

  3. It's a safe bet to say the nicrosil portion of the medallion would have been heavily Invested.

I think these tweaks are good to approve. I’d @AonEne’s input on it, as your character admittedly has a lot going on. Nothing that I think should necessarily be problematic, but just a lot of individual things to take in.

This is not ominous...not in the slightest...

My lord, it's been some time since I employed those emoticons. Regardless, thanks for the swift reply.
