So spaketh the Servant of Trell (as one of the Set's "Faceless Immortals") at the end of the Bands of Mourning, right before detonating an ettmetal bomb that wiped out Edwarn and itself in a huge explosion: "Thank you for your service; it has been accepted. You will be allowed to serve in another Realm."

That's "realm" with a capital R.

What do you think that might refer to? Edwarn's blown up, but his Cognitive Shadow will continue in service to further Trell's goals?

What, are they going to make a Suit Seon? An Edwarn fabrial? The mind boggles!

I'm of the opinion that the Set's 'Faceless Immortals' are cognitive shadows themselves, so I'm guessing he'll become one of them.

Im thinking they are Fused-style Cognitive Shadows that are getting stapled into Mistwraiths (rather than Singers) to make new bodies.

Or maybe possession of human bodies? Suit seems to imply the body is stolen from a beggar... but maybe this just means kandra style. A parallel to kandra or Kelsier's re-embodiment would fit better if Era 2 isn't meant to be too Cosmere focused... otoh the Lost Metal blurb implies worldhoppers are involved...

This is weird either way because the very strong implication seems to be that Trell is either Autonomy or an avatar of Autonomy, but this looks more like a Roshar mechanic (Fused/Heralds), and Trell's original religion really looks like that of Roshar's Purelake.

... or maybe Svrakiss which are a feature in the Derethi religion on Sel. (...And there is an established Sel-Scadrial connection in Secret History....)

Male this time, with a ragged beard and wild hair. A beggar stolen off the street, Suit guessed. Of course, the softly glowing red eyes were another sign.

I would say, stolen body

In Suit's case, given that they used an explosive, (also assuming that they did not just use that phrase like  "serving god in heaven"), they're definitely not just stealing his body, I'm assuming they plan to induct his Cognitive aspect, possibly make him like them but not necessarily.

This always reminded me of the Tranquiline Halls "fight in the Afterlife" narrative. I know it looks like that myth is just about the war with the Singers and Ashyn/Braize, but it would be interesting if there actually a bit more reality to being able to fight in another realm. An army of Cognative-realm humans would be interesting.

Since red typically denotes corrupted investiture, this could indicate Trell commandeering already extant hemalurgic spikes. Could mean either the spikes were corrupted and used in a new mistwraith or that an existing Kandra was corrupted entirely.

It's been so long, and I'm not there yet in my re-read of Era 2, but... are we sure that Edwarn died in that explosion and wasn't shifted to the Cognitive somehow right before it went off or through the explosion?

I've wondered about that a while...
