NameIess Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 So, the second secret project has been revealed! The title is: "The Frugal Wizard's Guide To Surviving Medieval England". Let's talk about it!
Scriptorian he/him Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Me: *hears the title of chapter one* *frowns* “Alcatraz, what are you doing in medieval England?” 2
Nathrangking he/him Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Time traveling jason bourne what could go wrong? 2

NameIess Posted March 10, 2022 Author Posted March 10, 2022 Alright, now that I've finished watching Brandon read the first 6 chapters, here's my observations: This guy is obviously a secret agent/mercenary for hire with lots of PTSD. His earth seems to have more advanced technology than ours, and might have magic as well, although he doesn't seem to believe magic exists so if it does it's not common knowledge. I have no idea as to why there are multiple people from earth in the dimension, except for the theory that the main character got into this dimension illegally. Honestly, before listening to this book's reading, I was thinking that I was going to be *meh* on this one, but after Brandon's video, I'm very much looking forward to reading it. 2
king of nowhere Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Cecil G. Bagsworth III an incredibly familiar name. I swear I've seen it in some other sanderson work. but a search in the coppermind has given no results. where did I read that name?

I assumed whoever killed Janet was actually gunning for him and is aiming to finish the job. 5 minutes ago, Nameless said: Honestly, before listening to this book's reading, I was thinking that I was going to be *meh* on this one, but after Brandon's video, I'm very much looking forward to reading it. Indeed.
redshadow310 he/him Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Had a very Hitchhikers Guide feel to me, which I love. Honestly I would not be shocked if this ends up being the first Sanderson adaptation to hit the screens. We might see this on Netflix or Amazon at the end of next year. 4
apepi Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 (edited) I hated the "Athletic not feminine" is a bad line, women can be athletic. The whole thing is like saying a women couldn't have tucked and rolled. Maybe like..Athletic not lazy or lethargic? Edited March 10, 2022 by apepi 1

Apparently Dan Wells and Brandon have previously used that name in both of their works and talked about it in Intentionally Blank. A quick WoB search tells me that he appeared in Alcatraz, or at least the annotations. As everyone else said, it's a mix of Jason Bourne and Project Hail Mary, Hitchhiker's Guide, and Brandon's Interdimensional Time Travel Tourism that's mentioned in Intentionally Blank. (Three of which Brandon openly mentions.) I liked the story! I think I like SP1 a little more, but this should definitely be a fun ride! (I also thought that the Interdimensional Time Travel Tourism would make for a fun boardgame and audionovella, so Brandon turning it into a full-fledged book is a happy surprise.) I DO think this is probably related to The Apocalypse Guard, so hopefully some of my questions about TAG will be answered. 1
the_archduke Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 I also got a Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court vibe. 2
