  1. I wonder if Squires can be promoted? As in a squire learns/gains apprenticeship from a Knight before becoming one himself, learning the craft? I mean they've got the Armour, the sword and the storming horse! I don't think this is out of the ordinary
  2. I'll be honest im not nearly as worried, Shallan has grown on me after WOR after learning her past has made me a lot less critical of her but i am still far from fond of her. I have even less love of her brothers. She seems incredibly blind to them. One is a border line serial killer and a coward, the other is a gambler and a thief the third well he battles with depression and was the target of their fathers rage mostly so ill leave him out. I believe they will still believe her to be 'fragile' which judging by her reaction to Adolin she does not like.(LOL) I also think she will have her hands full juggling the coming war, Adolin, her research and dealing with the Ghostbloods. I have a theory that they maybe a little insecure around her by witnessing how much she has grown. I think initially it will be all flowers and roses but will sour eventually, caused by them basically being hostages and i think they will get into trouble on their own..I just can't trust them. (EDIT) Have an upvote! I was desperate crazy to get them when i first signed up
  3. On the subject of storms i know they move West coming East from the Origin, i always imagined them as the Rosharan Mists similar to the mists on Scadrial, they seem destructive but they seem to nourish the plants and the like because they are filled with investiture. (Vasher's nutrients) I found an interesting note i found was in the first story Hoid told Kal; about King Derethil and the Wondersail, there is thought to be another Origin to the west where the Voidbringers were spawned. King Derethil describes it as 'a whirlpool where the ocean is drained'.
  4. Brandon seems to base a lot of his magic systems on perspective and belief. Hence why Lopen could grow an arm as he never got accustomed to losing it and Kal has yet to heal his brands because he can't see him self without them, i think this might be resolved in the next book though. The Ten Heartbeats. Szeth thought he new that Shard cuts can't be healed and such. I've always wondered if the Honorblades just granted Surgebinding abilities or something else. Shardblades are from spren, a piece of Honor but i always assumed Honorblades had some other function. All we really know about them is that you can use them without the same restrictions and they consume Stormlight faster.
  5. Didn't he use his influence with a young inexperienced Elokhar and give false evidence about them because he wanted to remove the silversmiths because he got greedy or something?? They were put in prison and forgotten where they later died. I think Dalinar is the one who sent him away in disgrace. I hope Kaladin lets Roshone know that he knows this. Your right though i don't think he really did anything technically illegal in Hearthstone he's just a nasty piece of work. However we dont know what he has been up to in the last 4/5 years. Im not sure how the reunion with his parents will be i imagine he will be okay with his mother maybe a little different with his father but i cant imagine Lirin will hold it against him tbh. I think 3-4 chapters in Hearthstone then he will go to the Capital where there will be many intrigues to deal with Riots and different factions i.e. Ghostbloods, SOH, Queen and maybe most troublesome the anti radiant Ardents. I see a lot of potential for Kal in this Arc, it could go so many ways. As opposed to what Odium is doing i think its safe to say he's thinking of creative ways to be evil. In Dalinars vision where the Midnight Essence was released i think they were one of the signs that a desolation was approaching, one of the Radiants called them one of the 'Ten Deaths'. There is also the plague in the pure lake, So Roshar has them to look forward to.
  6. Hoid has many impressive powers, im really interested in the ones we haven't seen yet like traveling forward in time or how he knows to be somewhere even if he doesn't know why (some sort of feruchemy) Not to mention that he can heal Shardblade wounds or grow a new head haha I hope he features in more in SA3 AOL sequels
  7. Silent Gatherer --
  8. So exited! Going to be watching the SA 3 status bar daily
  9. Gems to ease the pain of The SA wait in series; Lightbringer by Brent Weeks Night Angel by Brent Weeks The Unhewn Throne by Brian Staveley Ravens Shadow by Anthony Ryan The Red Queens War by Mark Lawrence The Iron Druid by Kevin Hearne
  10. I thoroughly enjoy all of Brandons works but Stormlight Archive is my fave by a mile it just seems to resonate with me!! I enjoy Mistborn but im ashamed to say every few months things just seem to leak away from me and i have to refresh. However i could never moan about Brandon the way i do about GRRM haha he always seems to be so active.
  11. Wasn't there a dark eyes in the slave cage with Kal with dark dark green eyes?
  12. I completely agree with you but he still did steal them and all of a sudden her life is turned upside down she isnt at her majority so her lands were forfit and she was given a dowry. I would probably sympathize with her if she's a little bitter about it. I'm currently doing a WOK reread but i cant remember if shes generally given up on Kaladin or not. It's been a few years since then who knows she could be a mother by now..poor thing. I always thought Roshone would have told Lirin that Tien was dead and Kal was a sentenced to slavery but Amaram didn't exactly keep an eye on him...so there is a theory ruined.
  13. To be fair she was like 15 i think and her father had just died and Kal's dad had just literally robbed her inheritance and all of a sudden she's lost her house and lands and been betrothed to a bloke she doesn't know..Im not sure how she views Kaladin for this but im really excited to find out. From what i gathered she actually seemed to like that arrogant little snot from the way she was screeching...high five whitespine. In a WOB somebody asked if Kals parents were alive and what their reunion would be like, BS stated they are alive and RAFO to the latter. I think it will be a few chapters before Kal persuades them and takes command but im hoping it's in an epic fashion. While it's true he probably cant kill or maim Roshone but he doesn't know that he swore no Oaths not to put the fear of the Almighty into him
  14. When Gavilar fought Szeth was he experiencing the thrill? His fight style was rather aggressive if i recall.
  15. Hand to hand - Szeth is a machine Blade to blade - Szeth would win Surge to Surge - Can you soul cast a person who is invested(?) and deportation she hasn't got a handle on that yet.. To me Szeth is the clear winner.
  16. I always thought that the Secret name of the Almighty was Tanavast when Wit said how he used to buy him drinks i was like oh SNAP but it turns out on Roshar his secret name is 'Elithanathile' 'He who Transforms'
  17. The nation of Aimia 'survived' the Desolations so im going out on a whim here and say they took part. In the WOK Prologue where there is Red Orange and Violet blood i always thought that was Aimian blood. There is nothing in my life that i would not give to see a conversation between Axies and Hoid... Im not sure if all of you know this but you should visit the coppermind website it has all the info on the cosmere and characters.
  18. Amia (Aimian Nation) - was one of the Silver Kingdoms that survived the desolations. It was an Island Nation separated by the AImian Sea. The Nation was scoured of it's people and are very rare and all sorts of legends and stories have become common knowledge. They seem to have Special powers; Casting shadows towards light instead of vice versa Changing their appearance at will and their organ functions - stopping their sense of smell and creating tattoos at will by altering the pigmentation of their Skin. Axies is basically immortal due to an interaction with magic. (Nightwatcher i think) There are two different types of Amian, Dysian Amians and Siah Amians. Amians are not human. This is all i know of them, hope this helps.
  19. I think the non ageing is a running theme in the Cosmere Magic Systems. Hahaha wolverine effect i like that! I believe in this theory as long as the Surgbinders hold to the oaths but it also makes me curious as to why the Heralds are still chilling 4000 years later after breaking the Oath pact?
  20. OMG i never even thought of that! Have an upvote! I always assumed if they were on Roshar she wouldn't be able to block his attacks from a shardblade, she'd also have to get over the hurdle of him healing even if she struck a blow. If she used Atium he'd fly away but emotional allomancy to take him by surprise would freeze him. Although he has nightblood now....im honestly not sure how to even include this. Anybody ever wonder what would happen if Vin held Nightblood?
  21. Personally i like him and think he has many good attributes. He's an underdog, he's got a handycap where in roshar strength is all. He was never taught to fight but wants to learn. Despite his brother being popular with the ladies, a famous duelist, the favored son and able commander he's always there for him (even Dalinar was a little jelly of Gav) I think he's not much right now but after becoming apart of bridge 4 he will come out of his shell, gain confidence. Even Zahel said he was a good student and i assume he knows what he's talking about I think he's got potential!
  22. Im saying Vin because she's a full Mistborn and would have an easier time using her abilities all over the Cosmere but if they fought on Roshar i would say Szeth would win.
  23. I've never imagined there would be illegal cock fights in Shinnovar. I imagine they would be looked down upon by the chicken who add
  24. Hello i've just finished another re-read of WOT and i have found a power ranking list for female channelers: http://13depository.blogspot.co.uk/2009/02/saidar-strength-ranking.html We also have a ranking of power for the forsaken from the Wikia: http://wot.wikia.com/wiki/Forsaken#Scale_of_power I wonder how M'hael would fit into that? I merely want to see your opinions as to what ranking you think the male channelers have by using the same levels as the women. Level 23: Morridin (MAX) Rand (MAX) Level 22: Aginor (MAX), Demandred, Sammael Level 21: Logain Ablar, Mazrim Taim, Rahvin Level 20: Bel'al (MAX), Narishma (Minimum) Level 19: Balthamel Level 18: Asmodean (Minimum) Level 03: Androl
  25. Do you think Vivenna is also on Roshar? Is there a WOB about that? Vasher and Vivenna will definitely get a Pov! I also think Yesteel will also get a little standard bad guy POV . I think there will be more featurig new characters. Hopefully Hoid/Dust will pop in and do some standard Trolling that alone would be worth a read
