  1. This is why I love 50-word fiction. It tickles the mind with possibilities. Another one: Portal She heaved and tried to control herself. For the first time, she looked at herself in the mirror and was shocked upon seeing the woman there. That vision was not her, was it? She looked around and at last became aware of her surroundings. Everything was metal. Where is she?
  2. Happy birthday!!!! Let's get together after this quarantine. Your place would be great. :)

You're welcome to visit my house, too. I'm cooking.

I am so stoked about your personal life. Everyone can read this and IDC. Happy for you !

  3. Employee of the Year 7:30 AM. Eyes closed, he ambled towards the bathroom, thinking he would be late if he didn't hurry up. Dressing quickly, getting in his car, and driving to the office took him only fifteen minutes. The place was in darkness. He exhaled loudly in sudden remembrance. It was a Sunday.
  4. I am not sure if this has been done in the forums before, but this will not be as easy as the fun one-liners we post in our quest for the longest threads. I've always enjoyed limiters, where you have to count the number of words or syllables on what you write. I'm hoping that some of you here also enjoy that challenge. Here are the rules: Write a very short story of exactly 50 words, no more, no less. Add a title in bold. I'll start --- Accident He stepped closer to her upon hearing the news. The damage was permanent, the doctors said, and there is nothing that can be done to repair it. He embraced her and touched his lips against her ear. She can feel him whispering, but all is silent in her world now.
  5. He could only be used for a guacamoldy. Note: I thought you'd pick up on Avocato. Doesn't anyone watch Final Space here?
  6. They had to send in their best agent to capture her - Avocato.
  7. "Lettuce stop this nonsense of sending me elsewhere," Salad said, "for I cannot leaf this place. Ever."
  8. Absolutely agree with this. The best planners are always the ones that leave a little room for chaos. She will succeed because she doesn't control events, and doesn't stop bad things from happening, but prepare to survive and thrive inspite of it.
  9. Oh no. Doesn't matter where you're coming from, only where you're going. Isn't that the saying? I'm new here, after being gone for so long. I can't even begin to fathom the scope of AV, and I think everyone who comes in and contributes to it, especially the new characters, bring so much with them. Anyway, don't want to muddle this thread with my chit-chat. There's characters that need writing and backreading. So much backreading.
  10. Sorry, not sorry. As soon as I saw the words Avatar, that song started playing in my head. I'm a coffee girl myself, but Iroh inspired me to drink tea. I don't think anyone else in my lifetime was able to persuade me to do that quite thoroughly. Now, I'm addicted to milk tea with tapioca pearls. Iroh invented bubble tea. There, I said it.
  11. I think my main consideration here was that she was an old old character, from my time here in the Shard, during the founding of the Dark Alley, before the Alleyverse. I didn't want to create a brand new character yet, and I just felt it fitting to revive her as a weaker version of her former self. She used to be quite strong, I think, still is, depending on how she'll develop. I'm writing a more fleshed out story about her now and will post soon. I changed her a little bit, based on what I see of the AV. It would be great to find out how someone with so much power before will react to the loss of it. It's good advice, doesn't matter if you're new. I needed a nickname for her because most folks shorten her/my name to QC. Quitty (here, kitty), sounded like it could grow on me. *purrs. Yes! You're right. It's 130. TBH, I don't much care about strength or power ATM. I'm just wanting to get into the melee, and have a chance to write her. But yes, gold compounding looks like it's being adjusted.
  12. I was so stoked when I saw that Netflix is producing the live action series of Avatar, but this time headed by the original creators. The movie adaptation was a travesty, and I've been patiently waiting for this new live action adaptation, hoping that they will do right by it this time. If you haven't watched it, you should. I don't know how many times I've watched it, but it has everything you'd ever want to see in a hero movie. A flawed hero, amazing supporting characters, superior character development (even of the supporting cast), redemption stories, mentorship, family, comedy - you name it. It also has an innocence that I don't see much anymore in newer anime. Surprisingly, for a fantasy fan, I used to think anime to be juvenile (gasp), until I watched this series, and it got me started on some classic anime stuff afterwards. Also, Iroh is amazing. If the Avatar creators will make something like a spinoff of just Iroh, I will still watch it. Oh, and the songs stick in your head for days. "It's a long, long way to Ba Sing Se, but the girls in the city they look soo prett-ay!" - Iroh "Secret Tunnel! Secret secret secret secret tunnnneeeeelll!" - Nomads
  13. "Don't be afraid to give up the goat to go for the great." - Rockefeller "It takes many goat deeds to build a goat reputation, and only one bad goat to lose it." - Franklin
  14. A true blue bridgeman! Welcome! Here, have some of Rock's Stew.
  15. Thanks for the compliment on the character. It was difficult to tone her down. She used to have Compulsion and had a weird tendency for controlling other people (with their consent), and had a whole army of Novices & Accepted running around to do her bidding. Massive ego. I loved taking her down the notches it took to make her more vulnerable. Thank you so much for the assistance! And I can start writing now? OOOOOOOH.
  16. I just want to pop in here to thank you for approving my character @Sorana. However, without a rating what does it mean for me, or in this case, her? Sorry to be so newbie about this. I need to do a crash course on RP rules since there's so much catching up to do. Quitty was powerful even before, and I don't really want to change that, but she always had chinks in her armor that I want to examine and reveal now. Speed reading on the forums to know where to insert her in this realm, but any guidance from y'all would be so welcome.
  17. I am both new and old, just came back here after 6 years. I'd like to see if I can revive my old character. The rules are stricter now, so here she is, for your review. I hope I'm doing it right. If not, please feel free to correct me, since I'm back on training wheels.
  18. Yes I just saw it. Pity. I'm itching to reprise my role and make some mayhem.
  19. It's strange to be back here to see familiar people and reconnect with Brandon's worlds. I am trying to acclimate to the new threads and I'm still shocked that in Sanderson Elimination, it's LG65 now. When I left, it was at LG8. I had to remove elimination stats in my signature pronto because it's embarrassing. It will take a bit of time before I can join those games again.

I'm most excited about the Alleyverse, because I was there when the Dark Alley first came to life. The last 6 years have been busy for me IRL, and apparently, it's been busy here too. Life goes on, and RP lives forever it seems.

  20. It would be hilarious if you added a RAFO at the end of the Cosmere reference. 7/10 because I'm feeling generous today.
  21. He stuffed them with French Toast while beating their heads with sticks converted from fallen breadmunks.
