  1. Yeah, you are right, I forgot the light tan eyes. But tthen where are the other light eye colors if there should be ten? Baxil described Ash's eyes as pale violet, which isn't associated with LW. Dark eyes are said to be really dark other colors - dark violet, dark green... May be they turn a lighter version of the original via the dead Blade bond. edit: just to clarify, those are two different thoughts, I'm not saying Kaladin had dark blue eyes before sylblade
  2. There aren't ten different light eye colors, which should have been the case if every KR became lighteyed. So far we've seen five: green, grey, yellow, violet and blue. I suppose it could work if every two orders shared color.
  3. At worst it looks like you want to shot down the conversation and this line of thinking doesn't address the points raised, instead it presents them as not worth discussing, because those with negative opinion are assumed to be biased, thus their views are automatically invalid without further consideration. It's a heavy accusation, yet you add it so casually... Yeah, the mistake is correct I'm not even going to edit it, it's too fitting
  4. Dalinar is the most experienced and resourceful character, thus there is a higher expectation about him. Kaladin is set to be this amazing worrier, so it feels natural he eventually managed to beat Szeth. Shallan on the other hand is the least experienced, yet she had several major wins in a roll against much more accomplished people. Dalinar is good on the battlefield, but does poorly outside of it, whereas Shallan comes out as having more skills and accomplished a lot on different occasions. Her accomplishments rival those of the other two, yet she looking at her story so far she didn't have the opportunity to gain the skill and experience for that. Her skills grant her successes in more situations than other characters. This for me creates the feeling she did too much too fast. Also, I'd like to mention it was insulting to imply in your previous comment people only criticize her character because of her gender. Yes, that's not the exact wording, but the implication was clear.
  5. What if Shallan misunderstands the nature of the creatures, sets Adolin to fight it and they both fail spectacularly With Mraize laughing at them on the background
  6. That will be fitting, usually if a character has many successes in a roll the next step an author takes is to make them fail big time I admit I think her character could use a spectacular failure right now, I won't like it if she continues winning as she did in WoR. May be it will be about the thing that haunts Urithiru, though that doesn't seem particularly grand unless she somehow ruins an invaluable resource in the city or something similar. Or it could be related to her brothers somehow.
  7. @kari-no-sugata Shallan had so many and so large successes in WoR it was barely believable for me. She had no significant failure, all those you mention are minor and she recovered from them quickly. She converted the deserters, handled the alethi court, infiltrated GB, solved the Shattered Plains puzzle, opened the Oathgate and progressed as a Radiant. Dalinar on the other hand suffered some spectacular failures and Kaladin, too. She went from 'but I've never my father's estate' to conning con artists, outspying spies and outscholaring scholars so fast it left a bad taste in my mouth.
  8. The jam was the likeliest poisoned food. Now, she doesn't eat sweets, but she could have thought Kabsal brought such a rare kind - strawberry - trying to tempt her scientific curiosity. She knows Shallan like jam a lot, so she snatched the jar from Kabsal and soulcasted it to save Shallan from what she considered potential danger. Now, why the bread? First, it's unreasonable to assume Jasnah would eat plain bread. She's a princess, used to fine meals. She doesn't have a liking in freshly baked bread, so there would be no reason to think simple bread can temp her to have a bite, thus it was unlikely the bread was poisoned. That's why Jasnah didn't worry about it, but when Shallan pressed her, Jasnah's natural suspiciousness and paranoia, something she shares with her brother, took over and she soulcasted it for her own peace of mind. I do not think she considered the bread as potential danger before she had to take a bite.
  9. Basically your main question is why did Jasnah let Shallan eat the bread if she was suspicious enough to soulcasted it before eating, that's the main argument you base your perception, correct?
  10. Jasnah wanted to go back, but she couldn't. She did what little she could to help, though. You can read it here.
  11. I want Nale and the Skybreakers to come kick the alethi out
  12. @WhiteLeeopard I agree. Other significant failures recently include his choice to engage foreign leaders in alethi rather than their own languages despite the fact he has translators. Plus why him and not the king? That send the wrong signal that he has essentially occupied the throne, which makes one worry who else's throne Dalinar might occupy next. Also, he turned the capital of the Knight Radiant to an extension of Alethkar rather than the neutral inclusive environment it should be. I wouldn't fault Malata one bit if she refuses to cooperate and other surgebinders if they don't want to be part of this either. Dalinar's great on the battlefield and terrible outside of it.
  13. I think that's a rather harsh read on Jasnah. Nobody eats just bread (usually), so it was reasonable to assume the poison was in the jam; she soulcasted the bread because she and her brother have the same paranoia bone. I don't see it as her being reckless with Shallan's life.
  14. I like the idea, however what would be the reason for Radiant's cognitive shadows to go to Braize?
  15. @Pattern are you done editing that reply? I swear it's the third version I see.
  16. @SLNC so Kaladin is so weak in your opinion that welling feelings prevent him from even talking to Shallan and he needs to isolate himself from her completely? Look, I know we disagree on the level of feelings involved when it's about those two. The right thing for Kaladin to do was tell her before he left Urithiru and he didn't do it. You can list any number of reasons why he didn't and in my opinion it doesn't change the fact he should have told her. There will never be this perfect moment when it can happen organically, it will always be an awkward and unpleasant revelation. It is the kind of thing that should be said sooner rather than later. I honestly can't believe anyone could ask that. Yes, of course it's important who killed her brother. She shouldn't hold a grudge against Kaladin, but the idea it doesn't matter because people die in war... This is such an insensitive thing to say
  17. @SLNC the expedition didn't leave immediately, Shallan had a meal, a bath and several conversations before it was decided she'd go with it, so that's several hours at least. You make it sound so melodramatic, as if Kaladin was Dalinar deeply in loved with Navani for a long time and then deciding to make room for Gavilar. It isn't like that at all. Deep feelings don't emerge immediately, this isn't a Disney movie. It's not like he had loved dearly since childhood. It's just another example of Kaladin not being ready to talk about something important.
  18. It's a good idea, but the Heralds didn't use stormlight, they were connected directly to Tanavast and drew power from him. There might be some significance connected to the Heralds that have those elements, but I can't think of what Ishar and Vedel might share that Ash and Jezrien don't have.
  19. @Pattern there was time after the chasms and then again in Urithiru. Let's stop excusing Kaladin. There's never a good time to tell someone you killed their brother, but it's the kind of thing you should make time for. As for Dalinar and Amaram I completely agree, I hope this gets him in trouble with the SF. I was so pissed off it played like that. If Elhokar will just be nodding in the background and have no character development he might as well just die.
  20. It's probably because of the robe like dress and sandals.
  21. I doubt white gold would have remained in legends as golden keys, people would more likely remember them as silver in that case. I'm skeptical towards electrum, too. They look like regular to me. Sure
  22. The keys didn't look golden to me... And they should have been
  23. You know, as obvious as that is (in retrospect), I actually hadn't thought of it.
  24. I hear you! The artist threw glyphs left and right and it didn't help I think the circular element on Jez's armor mirrors the colored glass glypg circle behind Vev, so the in-world artist must be fond of it, but I can't recall something like that being described before. I wouldn't have recognized her as Vedel if not for the ED symbol. The keys should have been golden, 'Vedeledev's golden keys' was used in-world to express... surprise? It's hard to be sure. No idea why she has a pergel.
  25. @mariapapadia you are not alone I'm underwhelmed as well. The first is as if the artist tried too hard to make Jezrien look majestic and Vedel has too much going on the background and weird choice of accessories. I just don't feel them as Jez and Vev. Ishar and Ash had the right vibe, these two are a miss for me.
