I know he was drunk then. My point was if Gavilar was alive, he would have been better prepared rather than hide and Dalinar would have been by his side. It's not like he was unreliable and constantly drunk.
-
I didn't read all comments, so it might have already been said, but the theory suggests illusions stay after death or at least for a really long time. Many people had seen Gavilar's body including his own family, it's not like Gavilar's body was buried in the ground five minutes after his assassination. And for the sake of the theory Gavilar has to be a really advanced Lightweaver. Perhaps being a surgebinder got him interested in a book about KR, but how did he learn so much? Can a surge even last for that long? When Kaladin binds something to a wall it fells fairly quickly. And why would Gavilar hide? After he knows what Szeth can do he can be better prepared (taking spheres away, ect) and have Dalinar at his side. I doubt even Szeth could beat both of them.

Here's a WoR Mini Review From a Beta Reader

Will Dalinar learn how Kaladin became a slave, in WOR?
Aleksiel replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
Plausible, but improbable. A girl doesn't just forget and move on after something like this. She would have had him off with his head years after the assault in this case, because today's Jasnah wouldn't let a known rapist walk free. -

I don't think Amaram assaulted Jasnah, because I can't imagine him living to see another day after this. Even when she couldn't soulcast and defend herself, she wasn't the type of woman who would silently cry in the corner and not seek justice. She wasn't very close to Gavilar, but she would have told someone, at least her mother - Jasnah expects her to believe the theory on Pashrmen, so she obviously would never disregard something her daughter told her. Even if someone had assaulted Jasnah, they are long punished and most likely dead. After all, as princess Jasnah has enough power to have someone killed even if chose to tell noone about it. She almost had her brother's wife assassinated, why would anyone think she wouldn't do the same for any man who wronged her? -
Szeth was instructed to make sure Mr T understood what Szeth told him, so there. If it was a 'bad day' for T, Szeth simply would have had to wait until the next day.
-
I think Szeth will be defeated one way or another. We know there is a way to leave a surgebinder stormlightless (new word ), so it would probably work on Szeth as well, though I'm not sure. Well, he can do both, he wrote Gavilar's message to Dalinar.

Do female ardents hide their left hands? I don't remember this.

Gaz tends to go out at the of highstorms to collect his spheres. Perhaps he just went a bit too early and now his body is somewhere in the chasms.

I think it's unlikely for a Herald to allow himself to end in a life-threatening situation since death means damnation to whatever place Heralds go after they die. Besides I thought they kept part of their powers after breaking the Oathpact, but I can't really support this with facts.

Jezrien, Shards, and the identity of the Broken One
Aleksiel replied to FirstSelector's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think there is another quote that supports the theory in a way This is from the prologue, the conversation between Kalak and Jezrien, so we can say Kalak believes the Heralds have been broken. Not that this proves anything, it just indicates that someone refers to Jezrien as broken.- 62 replies

Yeah, but do we know for sure the date on each epigraph matches the date of the in-chapter events?

Aleksiel replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
Darkeyes are not parshmen and have the right to win and keep shards, Kaladin's men deserved them. Plus, Amaram could have taken what he wanted for himself without killing his own men, Kaladin saying to give them away didn't necessarily mean whom to be given. He refused the shards, Amaram could have said that this gives him the right to decide what to with them as Kaladin's superior and be done with the topic. But no, Amaram wanted to make it look like he won them himself, which is a whole different story. -
You are right, but when I said 'we' I didn't mean Jasnah or any Alethi. I understand they have no use of information they don't have, but we (the readers) can speculate using all the knowledge we have. So we can find out whether a genocide is justified or not regardless of what characters chose to do.
-
It is relevant because a death rattle mentioned possession and a thousand days count down to the Everstorm. If we figure out who they belong to, we know who gets possessed by Odium and thus we can either confirm or rule out the need of Parshendi genocide.
-
Plenty of people in the book mention him as a figure of speech and curse using 'storms'. It's a Roshar thing. However, there are certain death rattles that indicate some connection to the Heralds and KR like this one: Also, there are some that sugges physical form as well I find it highly unlikely death rattles belonging to spren.
-
Why do you think that?
-
Sounds more like whoever was impersonated by the dying woman can be possessed. I don't think we have anything to connect the death rattles to the Parshendi.
-
I found it, thank you. Well, it sounds to me that Odium should choose a champion, not Dalinar.
-
Really?! I don't remember Honor talking to Dalinar about Odium at all, can you tell what chapter is that so I can re-read it?
-
Why not seek a way to prevent Odium from possessing them? If they just slaughter the Parshendi, what stops Odium from finding another way to bring Desolation? They should find a cure for the cause, not the symptoms.
-
I assumed 'Neshua Kadal' meant something like KR or surgebinder. Parshedi seem unafraid of Shardbearers, it's something you can win against while a surgebinder is a whole different story. They changed tactics because of Kaladins ability, he is more dangerous as he uses their own spheres against them because of the stormlight in them. Why should Dalinar pick a Champion? I don't remember this.
-
@Shardlet: But what has changed now that wasn't in any of the previous 4500 years? I mean other then the fact there are no more KR or Heralds, which can easily lead to the conclusion they were somehow responsible for the Desolations, and Alethi should genocide surgebinders instead. Also, that black sphere Gavilar gave Szeth is very suspicous to me. Weren't there any confirmation that spheres can hold spren? If they can, it could have been some voidspren or something Voidbringer related. After all, we know that Parshendi are trying to prevent their gods (widely believed this refers to Voidbringers) from returning and this means Parsh are anti-Voidbringers as well. Again, if Parsh are somehow changed by an outside force into Vidbringers, it's the said outside force that's the real problem and the issue that should be dealt with. Edit: I don't see sending them away as an option. Then they would just turn into Voidbringers (assuming that's what will happen to them) and still seek to destroy others. This doesn't solve the problem.
