  1. I'm very curious about the idea that it may have to do with the realmatics of the body. Playing the devil's advocate, it may also be that by 'once living' means organic matter, though Vasher's extremely advanced knowledge of realmatics also makes me think he knows enough of science to say organic if he meant it. Also, it may have to do with how close the object is to the Awakener himself (e.g. how Commands must be spoken in native tongue, how Awakened objects take on a shape of a hand or limb, how adding a piece of hair lowers the amount of breath substantially, etc,.). Personally, I'm more inclined with the latter. I guess that means if Nightblood could ever Awaken, he would find it easier to Awaken metal (Now there's a thought )
  2. How: - Allomancy is a form-based magic. The molecular structure of particular metals allow Preservation's Investiture to flow into the Allomancer in the same way the Dor would flow into an Elantrian's Aons. This Investiture somehow is able to grant the Allomancer enhanced abilities. - A Net-Positive system, as it takes energy from an outside force - in this case, Preservation's Investiture. - An efficient Investiture system, it gives out no light or visible signs of power. A particular variant of Allomancer - the Seeker, can trace Allomancer's by their allomantic signature however, pulses able to measured by wavelengths.
  3. Pros: - Nearly limitless flexibility, customisable beyond even the original investiture's intent (e.g. an inquisitor's eye-spikes allowing metal-sight) How: - The Hemalurgist binds outside Investiture - normally that of another person - inside a metal spike of a corresponding metal. This spike can be inserted into a donor, where if placed in the right location, will allow the captured investiture to move into the donor, able to harness the investiture. - When stealing investiture from another person, the effects are usually fatal due to the physical trauma. If recovery is made however, there is still significant spiritweb damage that could lead to other problems. - Currently unknown how to bind unbound investiture to a spike without first going through that of another person. Cons: - If the spike is placed in a place that would otherwise kill the donor, then the removal of the spike will kill. - If you burn Aluminium or a Chromium-burning Leecher touches the donor, then the donor will lose the spikes that may have taken a lot of time and resources to collect (and may kill if the above applies).
  4. Many have also suggested filling a Goldmind while holding Stormlight, which effectually has the same purpose.
  5. I will not discriminate between who I must protect

  6. So under this logic, then it should be easier to work out while storing, because it makes it harder for yourself = more gain in muscles with less equipment. See where I'm going with this? The exploitation of magic systems in the most mundane of settings continually fascinate me.
  7. There's absolutely no reason why this isn't possible. This is precisely what Wax does (storing 25% all the time), except applied to muscles. I would find it incredible useful, for example the idea of walking around with all that muscle doesn't appeal to me, preferring to stick to a lithe frame. Pewter would allow me to get as strong as I could however, then I could tweak and adjust. Going beyond - when I first thought of this idea myself, I always mused how it could actually work whilst exercising - do you gain muscle mass faster if you had less muscles? Would tapping or storing strength when you exercised help in any way?
  8. Another parallel - Sazed the Edgedancer!! "He's found a new bit of lore, Vin thought. To a Keeper, that's probably as intoxicating as Streetspice." In fact, most Keepers in general I would imagine (or even most Archivists).
  9. Bear in mind that the only example of a Skybreaker we've seen so far is Nale - and we all know (or at least, highly suspect) that he is somehow twisted. I feel Wax is a Skybreaker more than a Windrunner because he does it for justice more than simple protection of the innocent. But understandably it's hard to debate something on which we know so little on...
  10. It certainly is an interesting parallel, and one I hadn't picked up on. As an aside, it's interesting to note what Orders of Knights certain characters might be if they go to Roshar (Wax the Skybreaker).
  11. So as I'm looking at a quote from Brandon: Now, as we've understood it, this means that whatever power Allomancy taps into, Feruchemy can siphon it off. Taking it into a larger context however, you can realise that this means that an End-Neutral System can effectively be powered by a End-Positive System. Imagine a Feruchemist Worldhopping the Cosmere, only to return to Elantris after an exciting day - as they arrive, they activate the Aons they have inscribed on their MetalMinds, and instantly they are fully recharged. That's only where the possibilities begin! (I've just realised that using Stormlight to fuel Awakening is essentially Compounding - good on you, Vasher). Sorry if this has been realised before, but I just had my mind blown and needed an outlet. I've also very curious to see how this relates to End-Negative Systems, or even Reverse-Compounding (as I believe we have WoB that the Lord Ruler enhanced his Allomancy with Feruchemy). On another note, I'm going to begin compiling notes on how to make the most overpowered being in the Cosmere. Examples of this would be abusing this version of Feruchemical Compounding, an Awakened Mistcloak, Nahel Bond Spren, Awakened sword, Honourblade, etc,. I would be most delighted to see if anyone else can come up with some overpowered combinations.
  12. I think the grimace was a bit of foreshadowing actually, though I agree that thinking Glys able to transform into a Sprenblade is a bit too far of a leap to consider with all the evidence presented.
  13. I have to go with Thug. I love all of the powers in so many ways, but the pure versatility of Pewter is too great not to choose as my favourite for me. Enhanced strength, grace of movement, the ability to ignore lethargy and pain. Even the awesomeness of Tin doesn't come close, with its drawback being Tineyes can be shocked easily by a sudden influx of sensory data. And although being a Coinshot is awesome because of the potential flight, metal detector-ness, and human gun, I feel Pewter is more 'my style'.
  14. Well... I was rereading WoR looking for Vivienna... But I have a feeling this isn't her.
  15. I'd imagine they'd be pretty matched. Lashings can only do so much, and the the pure flexibility of Allomancy is hard to be discounted - and paired with Feruchemy... Undeniably strong. Pewter essentially grants the same supernatural grace that holding stormlight grants, without any healing abilities but with enhanced strength. Steel/Iron might be negated if the Windrunner knows about the Inquisitor's Allomantic Pulls and Pushes. In an urban setting, it would be easy to fly around using steel and iron however. Tin will allow the inquisitor to hide and keep track of a big ball of glowing Windrunner if he ever needed a retreat. Zinc and Brass would be good for psychological warfare. Let's not even get started with Duralumin. Atium would just make it unfair. To be honest, I'm not sure why people call Windrunners overpowered or anything the like. They're fairly matched Mistborn, and weaker than a Fullborn by a long shot.
  16. I guess the best way to check against this would be to see if allomancy would ever have an effect on metalminds.
  17. damnation, I thought I was onto something original with the splicing of Aons and Fullmetal Alchemist ideas XD Oh well. I've always liked the idea of a Feruchemist Elantrian inscribing his MetalMinds with Aons.
  18. Just get combat Aon tattoos - you only need touch them to activate them (as evidenced by how the Elantrians used Aon Tia to teleport around the city) (credits to Fullmetal Alchemist)
  19. I was pretty sure that the lightning actually hit Adolin, but did not damage - hence Adolin's sudden encouragement that his Shards were designed to kill Voidbringers. It also seemed that this initial strike caused this "anti-voidbringer like" behaviour, though that's my own speculation. "Lightning flashed right at Adolin. The sound was incredible, and the light. He stood in place, blinded. When it faded, he found himself completely unharmed. I don't think Adolin would have made note of being unharmed unless it actually struck him.
  20. I will protect those who cannot protect themselves

  21. Huh. Wonder what's the point of having entirely aluminium bullets if you could just use an aluminium jacket for each of them (a lot cheaper). Maybe they can still be Pushed/Pulled, but it's a lot harder?
  22. Incredibly thorough, even if there's a lot of speculation (though it is admittedly well grounded). I applaud you, sir. Even if many of this is wrong, the amount of thought and effort you've put in is extraordinary.
  23. The 96% tin and 4% lead idea is fascinating. As for how much lead is used before it becomes deadly when burned, I imagine it would have some kind of tie in with real life metallurgy, as metals can vastly change their properties depending on what metals are mixed. I wonder if we have any metallurgists at the 17th Shard...
  24. Upvote for the word figgledigrak
  25. It's funny you mention that, because the idea of Awakenings refusing Commands immediately draws a parallel between Shallan and her incident with Stick. Though you're right, Awakening works or it doesn't, there's no room for refusal (refer to Vivienna getting Breaths against her will).
