  1. Depends how big the spike is - a larger spike can retain a charge outside of a body for a longer period of time with limited degradation than a smaller spike.
  2. Yeah, he could. Again though, why? It seemed the whole point of Sazed's ascension was to put things the way they were again, not change things that much.
  3. and then Wax doing the same thing in Alloy of Law
  4. The only thing I'm worried about is what would happen if you Awaken Aluminium. It does have funny effects on magic systems, after all...
  5. Love the Gold antibody idea. The Cadmium idea sounds like a good idea for the 'mist fabrials' the people down South are supposedly developing in some form. Cadmium grenades! Freeze the moment just how you like it!
  6. Also guys, note: "we've made the decision to start over from scratch" That means scratch. So however long it took to develop the game, copy and paste from when that message was posted, and it would be a good indication. *cries* Wonder how they're able to make the funds for that, especially selling to such a niche audience.
  7. I've been looking forward to this way too much for there not to be something wrong with me
  8. Oh my GOD. YOU HAD BETTER UPLOAD THE NEXT ONE TOMORROW.
  9. Here's your 6th citation by the way: http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=691#3 Awesome stuff
  10. The dilemma of Gold/Atium not matching up Allomantically in the first two books, and Atium breaks the rules (and the current dilemma is the above mentioned 'handwavium').
  11. And yet we know the efficacy of the Command increases the closer it is to the 'true command', as referred to how lifeless used to take 50 breaths to create. These are the Immortal Words. Words of binding power on Roshar, used over hundreds of years by Roshar's most powerful. More than that, they are linked to the Spren and Shardblades that an Awakened blade is so similar to. Most here argue my former hypothesis, that "the sword will try (badly) to fulfil its command". and by the way, the lifeless command is "Awaken to my Breath, serve my needs, live at my Command and my word". So length doesn't really matter, only concision and eloquence. But if even the Windrunner's oath is too ambiguous to fulfil, what would happen (if you could figure the phrasing properly) if you used the First Ideal instead? Hell, I'm fascinated by the idea of multiple commands now... the Swords Radiant...
  12. The whole time bubble dilemma stinks of Atium/Gold from the original Mistborn trilogy to me. Seems to not quite work, so you dismiss it thinking that the author just overlooked it, before it comes back and you realise just what kind of genius Brandon Sanderson really is. This page will be really interesting to look back on when the true nature of bubbles are revealed (my heart aches in realisation at how long that will be).
  13. This idle musing has been bubbling in my head for about half a year now, but it's only today that I've felt the absolute need to share it: What would happen if you were to Awaken a sword using one of the Immortal Words? For instance, what would happen if Vasher had awakened Nightblood, but instead of using the command 'Destroy Evil' he used the command 'Protect those who cannot protect themselves'. Would we simply get an awakened, sentient sword that would try (badly) to fulfil its command, or would we get something a little more... magical...? honourblade? BONUS FAR FETCHED-NESS: What if one of the Skybreaker's oaths had something to do with 'Destroy Evil'...
  14. Well compounding is basically just using Allomancy to fuel Feruchemy. I was thinking less Vin and more the Lord Ruler.
  15. Is it a Mac? If so, use what I have - get UnRarX
  16. It does seem that way, yup!
  17. Atium, remember. Ruin did have a lot of power to do things like that, but he lost it as it was manifested in the physical realm as Atium, Ruin's body. The Hero of Ages basically had our protagonists try to stop Ruin and Ruin trying to get the Atium to end the world.
  18. Peace, friend I know you're just contributing However you'll probably find its not, it's actually got to do with the spine and how delicate it is. Though it hurts a lot, I doubt there are many times in your life you should actually experience pain so strong it makes you pass out. Mostly it's physical trauma, not mental is what I'm saying. It's funny, I've always thought the added senses were intuitive, but the more you think of it...
  19. I remember the first time I was introduced to realmatics there was mention when I searched up the spiritual realms along the lines of "not much is known about the spiritual realm, shardblades are stored here". It was the first of the my realmatic understandings however, so I'm not sure how valid they are... (and after a quick search, the source of my info - the coppermind - doesn't have any reference to it [darn they need to update the shadesmar page]). CWS, if you don't know about it then I'm hesitant to tell you, because the revelation is quite awesome.
  20. 'Sup fellow Kiwi. Tin almost definitely enhanced the mind enough for the burner to be able to process the information. However, I would say that the opposite of sensation is numbness that leads to unconsciousness. The sensation itself however leads to lack of numbness - hence lucidity. Just like how you splash cold water on your face in the mornings to wake yourself up.
  21. Does the hack-lines of the profiler from the new game Watch Dogs remind anyone of external physical allomancy? I was so readily reminded of it that I even thought one time "Why doesn't Aiden just take out his phone to find the gun...? Hang on, oh..."
  22. Off-Topic I do hope so, for with continued use of gaming terms, it would be a serious nerf to Hemalurgy /:
  23. But... The Lord Ruler had problems with constantly tapping his metalminds, not storing them, right? Again, remember Wax says he constantly stores weight in his metalminds (increasing this to the maximum when he used his weight to smash through the floor). I feel what you've just outlined to be more a psychological problem than a magical one. Getting used to being at a certain size can be troublesome. Yet you could say the same thing if any Brute were to tap Pewter (we know Sazed had trouble moving sometimes due to his enhanced bulk). Again though, it's not really so much of a mechanic to stop you, more of a unintended consequence. And you couldn't store every moment of your life, so I would imagine those moments where you settle down and release your storage (or even when you sleep) it may be enough to acclimatise yourself to your own body mass.
  24. Sorry about that, I was under the impression my sig was 500 x 100. I was misled /: Anyway, I've always thought that Aluminium and Chromium would remove Hemalurgic spikes from the body due to the fact that they completely remove investiture from the body. However, they must not remove the investiture that grants sentience in Preservation's case, so I guess the Cognitive aspect might shield it from an Aluminium burning... Something I hadn't considered. And yes, lyht. I meant recipient How (speculation): - It is possible that Hemalurgy would take on a similar practice to surgery in the Mistborn world as it is in our world. We've seen Hemalurgy being used by a primitive society in the form of spiking people, but what would happen if they were surgically implanted in a more professional fashion? Small spikes could be implanted in the eyes so you have all the abilities an inquisitor would have without having to lose your eyes, for example. Bones replaced with metals wolverine-style and continuing on incredibly wide possibles. Unless Chromium burners really do destroy Hemalurgical spikes, then damnation.
  25. I guess vines seem unnatural to most of us - tendrils seem to be more natural use of the word, therefore making us think 'vine' was used intentionally to stand out. The Mist and the Shardblade are actually almost definitely the same in mechanics somehow, though what this means, I can't really say... Haven't most people been referring to the Mists as Preservation's Spiritual aspect to its Investiture anyhow? And that the Shardpool was Cognitive aspect. This may challenge that, as Shardblades are Cognitive creatures. Oh no you didn't.
