@Wyrmhero: Ahh, I see you are also a fan of *Betrayal. Great game. I just played it again for the umptillionth time last night, actually. I think you made one small typo: last paragraph, second to last line- that should be "eliminators," not "explorers," right? Only a couple questions: so does nobody start out with any role other than explorer? Since this game is taking place on Nalthis, will breaths and awakening have an impact on the game's roles, like LG4? Do you have plans to host this game anytime soon? Because I'm definitely in if you do. (*Betrayal as in the fantastic board game: "Betrayal at the House on the Hill," not Betrayal as in the act of turning against your friends/allies when they least expect it. If you have never heard of the board game, go find it and buy it right now. Seriously. You will not regret it.)

Looks good Aonar. A couple questions: I take it that any use of a power consumes one charge of stormlight? So for example, Division says that you can kill one player per cycle, but really you mean that each cycle you have the option of spending a charge of stormlight if you have one to kill a player. Gravity: So am I to understand that it works like the traditional coppercloud power, allowing you to affect yourself and one other player each time you use it? Or are you simply allowed to target any one player, including yourself? Progression: If you use it to target a player and they are not attacked, do you still lose a charge of stormlight? I take it from how you've written it that if your target is: attacked 0 times -> you lose 0 (1?) charges of stormlight attacked 1 time -> you lose 1 charge of stormlight attacked 2 times -> you lose 2 charges of stormlight attacked 3 times -> you lose 3 charges of stormlight etc. Illumination: PMs are one on one, you say, so not 1 PM with a bunch of players, but a bunch of PMs with you and one other player. So with this power, you could theoretically spend 1 charge of stormlight to open a one on one PM with EVERY other player in the game? It's hard to envision exactly how the game will play out, but that may be a bit OP. For one it would allow the Illuminator to immediately discover everybody who has been hit that cycle by things like abrasion, transportation, and Cohesion. I would suggest a cap of some sort. 1 charge of stormlight for 5 (or however many PMs), with the option of spending more than one charge for more PMs. Transportation and Cohesion: These sound remarkably similar, or am I reading them wrong? For cohesion, does anything that target you ALSO affect your target or does in ONLY affect your target and leave you untouched? If the latter, it is too similar to Transportation (albeit weaker, since you can only protect yourself) for my tastes. I'd suggest something to make the powers a bit more distinguished from each other- maybe one could let you transfer 1 vote (at random) from yourself to another player for each charge of stormlight used? Tension: seems a little weak, especially when compared with other powers like Transportation and Abrasion. Not quite sure how I'd fix it though. Maybe a vote-manipulation power again? The number of votes your target receives the next cycle is cut in half (or doubled, depending on your preference)? Overall it looks really cool though. Simple and straightforward yet thematic. I'll be signing up for this one for sure- I haven't participated in a good Rosharan game yet.

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Herowannabe replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I almost forgot to add this! Welcome to the LG12 Bonus Round! Totally just for fun, but let's hear your answers to all the "what if?" questions! If you had been made Hoed, what would your 5 words be? "there is always another secret" would have been mine. If you had been King/Queen, what would your inheritance rules have been? Definitely some sort of Tineye-message-esque puzzle/code. First person to crack it becomes my heir If you had been Dula, who would you have made lovers? It may not be original, but I would have gone for Wilson and Claincy. I'm not scared of you Wilson! And etc. Let's hear all the things you would have done if X had happened instead. Have fun with it!- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Herowannabe replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Hero's post-game GM thoughts: Thank you everyone for playing this game! We had a few hiccups here and there, and the rules were not as balanced as I had hoped, but overall I think it went well. It sounded like most everyone had fun, and that’s the most important thing. Now that the game is over, I have a few things I wanted to mention as Game Maker (put in spoiler tags to limit how much space this post will take up): First, The Bad: The Good: Honorable Mentions Next game Thanks- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Herowannabe replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Lightsworn already post a couple of these, but here are the links to the relevant docs and spreadsheets. Spectator/Dead doc Cultist Doc Elantris PM log- Everything that happened in Elantris Master Spreadsheet (note that it has multiple tabs in it, including one for all the Elantris secret areas) I'll leave the docs open for people to edit for a few days, in case anyone wants to comment on anything, and then I'll lock them up. I'm working on a big post where I comment on a bunch of aspects of the game but my internet it being really flakey. Hopefully I'll be able to get it posted tonight. If not tonight, then tomorrow sometime. EDIT: I should note that for the Elantris PM log and the Master Spreadsheet nobody is allowed to edit them, for obvious reasons, but I left it open for people to leave comments on them, if they wish.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Herowannabe replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Night 9: A Bloody Outrage Conversation in the Court was muted, everyone was still shocked over the revelation of the restoration of Elantris. Instead of diseased figures, the Elantrians now walked among them, surrounded with a silvery glow, and answering questions about how Elantris was. But it didn’t stop the hunt completely, just the opposite. The Elantrians that walked among them had also made the hunt for the Jeskeri Cultists their greatest priority. Not everybody was awestruck by the renewed gods that walked among them, and for a while it actually looked as if Clankii- recently taken by the Shaod himself- was going to be lynched as a cultist. But Queen Kiireon- another new initiate into the restored Elantris- put an end to that, vouching for Clankii instead. “There is still a Shu-Dereth Pan-Dareth priest among us!” Mene called out authoritatively. “Gyorn Jain took an Odiv before he died, and moreover, I have reason to believe that his Odiv was actually a Jeskeri Cultist, as well!” It was quite the sensational announcement. However, it was cut abruptly short when several of Patriarch Seinalan’s attendants whisked Mene away and reprimanded him sharply for blasphemously donning the fallen Patriarch’s robes. After that, the proceedings lost their focus, and nobody quite knew who to accuse. In the end, it was reluctantly decided that Arfear Quinn be sent to the gallows. “This is a bloody outrage!” Arfear shouted, face purple with rage. He unsheathed his slender syre and swung it deftly side to side. “You’ll not have me without a fight!” “Sir,” The Captain of the guard said, “Put your sword down and come quietly. You can’t possibly stand on your own against two dozen of the Queen’s finest guardsmen.” “You’re right about that,” Arfear said with a grin, then put two fingers in his mouth and whistled sharply. Several windows shattered inwards as grappling hooks were hurled through them, and moments later pirates began pouring through, cutlasses at the ready. Battle immediately broke out between the pirates and the soldiers, with innocent people scrambling to simultaneously get to safety and find prime viewing spots. “Jatae!” Arfear called out as he expertly dueled two soldiers at once. One of the pirates called a reply. “Aye, Captain Quinn?” Arfear responded by pointing his syre across the hall at Clancy, and Jatae charged at him, cutlass held high. The move proved fatal for Arfear, as one of the guardsmen took advantage of the opening and thrust a spear into Arfear’s gut. Clancy cursed, and pulled a loaded crossbow out of his long coat. He pointed it at the charging pirate and fired. His aim was true, the bolt flying directly at the center of Jatae’s chest, but just like the previous night, his target survived the shot. Jatae raised his off-hand defensively, and the bolt pierced his forearm. It didn’t slow his charge, however, and three strides later Jatae reached Clancy and brought his cutlass down. The battle ended quickly after that. With their captain slain, Jatae called a retreat, and the surviving pirates fought their way back to one of the broken windows and made their escape. Arfear Quinn was a Citizen Pirate! Clancy was a Cultist Debtor! Vote Tally: Gerald Hobbes (Burnt Spaghetti): 1 (Kaian) Arfear Quinn (Araris Valerian): 3 (MenE, Nathanael, Clankii) Clancy (lord Claincy Ffnord): 2 (Won LenReen, Riingar) Nathanael (Wyrmhero): 0 (Edrab Leah) Liala (Luckat): 1 (Gerald Hobbes) Clankii (Clanky): 1 (Duke Pifferdan) (GM error: missed the vote retraction) Night 9 begins! Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Herowannabe replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Day 9: The Light of Dawn The fear and tension in the palace was beginning to subside. Many of the cultists had already been caught and executed, and the Gyorn hiding among their midst had been found and… subdued. The King’s death had been tragic, but Queen Kiireon was firmly in control, and MenE had stepped up to fill the void in the clergy- at least for the time being. Moreover, the Jeskeri cultists had been prevented from killing anyone for several days. In short, now was the perfect time to strike. The cultists moved swiftly and efficiently. They had now thrice been thwarted by the cursed Jindos and the palace guards, so they had taken extra care this night. They quietly barred and barricaded the doors at either end of the corridor, making sure that nobody could interrupt them this night. They would leave the barricades there, they had other means of escape. There was only one doorway in this hall- the entrance to the palace’s Korathi Chapel. Their was inside, praying. Alone. The Cultists readied their weapons- mundane weapons again this night. Ever since they had lost their ceremonial dagger performing the secret Jeskeri rituals was difficult, and… unpredictable. Weapons in hand, they burst into the chapel. As they had suspected, a lone figure knelt at the altar at the head of the chapel, head bent in worship. The figure stood slowly, turning to face the cultists. It was the one they had come for. The figure spoke, “You’re going to fail, you know. Even if you kill me, even if you kill all of us, you will not leave the palace grounds alive. The guards will see to it.” The lead cultist smiled, and pulled the trigger of the crossbow. The bolt shot straight and true, striking their victim in the heart. The figure staggered back, clutching at the bolt, and then pulled it free, it’s tip barely wet with blood. The bolt had struck the Korathi charm that the figure wore, shattering the pendant and saving the targets life. But only temporarily. The lead cultist dropped the expended crossbow and drew a short sword. Another cultist raised a crossbow and fired, but the shot went wide, punching a head-sized hole in the large stained glass window. The figure scrambled for cover, hiding behind the large altar. The lead cultist ran and leapt atop the altar, swinging the sword down in a vicious arc. The victim jerked to the side and the sword took a large chunk out of the altar. The lead cultist kicked out, and boot connected with the victim’s jaw. The victim sprawled to the ground, and the lead cultist jumped down, gripping the sword confidently. The light of dawn that streamed through the hole in the stained glass window illuminated a smirking grin underneath the cultist’s hood. “There’s nowhere to run. Now, you will…” The lead cultist trailed off, frowning. The light coming through the window was the wrong hue to be sunlight. Silvery white, not orange or yellow. And this window didn’t face East. It faced West, towards… The victim took advantage of the cultists’ hesitation, twisting and leaping straight through the large window. The window shattered outward, and shards of colorful glass tumbled to the ground of the courtyard, along with the cultists’ intended target. The fall wasn’t too far- only about 1 story, and within but a few seconds the target was upright again, and calling for help. When the guards finally burst into the chapel, the cultists were nowhere to be found. The Korathi priests worked busily. With the losses of Seinalan and Seinene, and with MenE doing his best to take their places, the priests were short staffed. Moreover, they had two Shaod victims to attend to this morning. Queen Kiireon- no, not Queen anymore. Not after this. Kiireon looked up, sharing a pitying look with Clankii. His hair had fallen out, and his skin was mottled with sickening black splotches. I look like that, too. Kiireon thought wistfully, mourning the loss of her hair more than anything else. She closed her eyes, fighting to hold back the tears. One of the priests cried out in alarm, and others gasped. Kiireon’s opened her eyes and she saw Clankii changing. The black splotches faded as she watched, and his skin began emitting a silvery light. His eyes, fixed on Kiireon, widened with shock, too. Kiireon looked down at her hands, which were also beginning to glow. “Merciful Domi” She whispered, no longer bothering to hold back the tears. Someone was attacked by the cultists but was saved by a Korathi Pendant! Kiireon and Clankii were both taken by the Shaod! Elantris has been restored! With Elantris restored, several things are now different: All restrictions have been lifted from the Elantrians. They can now post in the main thread, vote, and target all players with actions. The Elantrians will retain their Elantris PM group, and may continue to explore Elantris and discover other forgotten secrets. Any seons that the Elantrians had are now restored and may be used again, as per normal rules. Poison vials may still be used, and have the same effect- causing the victim to look like a pre-restoration Elantrian. The victim is sent to Elantris for two days for treatment for the strange illness. While being treated the victim may only communicate in the Elantris PM, and may not vote or use actions on non-Elantrian players. Basically, the poison vials work exactly the same as before, except that it will be apparent from the get go that the victim was poisoned and not taken by the Shaod. If you have any other questions about how this affects the game, please ask. I wouldn't be surprised if I overlooked something somewhere. Updated Player List: Day 9 now begins! Working on sending out PMs now.- 1221 replies

Interesting idea Wyrm... I'm not 100% sure I'm following it, so let me just talk it back to you to confirm: Given say 20 players, there would be roughly 4-6 Eliminators (sons of Honor) and 14-16 villagers (Ghostbloods), as per usual. Players are paired up at random into day-player/night-player pairs, meaning that a handful of the villagers will be paired with the eliminators without knowing it. Day players post during the day and vote. Night players post during the night and use actions, if they have any. is all of that right? A few more questions: What happens to a player when her partner is killed? Anything special? or does she just continue on as usual, fulfilling her half of the day/night pairing, but without a partner to talk to? In the title, you list it as a Quick Fix (QF), but in the description you said 48-hour day phases and 48 hour night phases, like a long game- which is it? Personally, I think this idea would work best as a Mid-range game, with 24 hour day phases and 24 hour night phases. Going 48 hours without being able to use actions/votes, actively participate in the thread, or PM anyone except for 1 person is a long time, and I fear it would breed inactivity. 24 hour on/off cycles seems a lot more palatable to me.

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Herowannabe replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
You will not be explicitly told if a faction has been defeated. You will be explicitly told when a faction wins, though. I've already begun on version 2 of these rules, and am addressing both of the points you brought up in the new rules, as well as adding a lot of other fun tweaks and twists. I'll post them sometime after this game finishes. EDIT: Color- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Herowannabe replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Both of those are GM errors. Bort is definitely dead, and it was Kipper who voted for Wilson, not Bort. I have mentioned these to Tulir but it looks like he hasn't fixed them yet.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Herowannabe replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Chaos erupted in the palace as fighting immediately broke out over the crown. It didn't last long though. Queen Kiireon stepped in with authority ringing in her voice and commanded that order be restored. The guards, who were already used to obeying her, leapt to fulfill her wishes, and soon things settled back down, without any blood being spilt. Congrats to King-Queen Wilson! And since I know people are going to wonder, the way it works is that now her vote will count as 3 votes (+1 vote for each crown she wears, no matter how ridiculous she looks with 2 crowns on her head ). She may set up inheritance rules separately for each crown, or one set of rules for both crowns. It's up to her. @Kipper: She did get the exact phrase correctly. The extraneous stuff in her post doesn't matter.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Herowannabe replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The day is now finished! Also, GM ANNOUNCEMENT! Burnt Spaghetti has sign up as a pinch hitter. He has a little bit of inside information about one of the players in the game right now, who shall remain unnamed, but he has agreed to not say anything or act on the information that he has, so we'll let it slide, especially since... GM ANNOUNCEMENT #2! Burnt Spaghetti will be taking over for Kipper, due to Kipper leaving town and civilization and internet access behind! Kipper still has half a day before he needs to leave, so we'll let him keep posting in the meantime. Thanks Kipper and Thanks Burnt! (or do you prefer Spaghetti? Spag? Ghetti? I like Ghetti. ) Thanks Ghetti!- 1221 replies
