  1. For Dalinar Ken Watanabe or Donnie Yen Godfrey Gao for Kaladin Sammo Hung for Sadeas For Shallan Park Hye Min or Mirei Kiritani Nyle DiMarco as Adolin Maggie Q as Jasnah David Bautista as Rock Jimmy Yang as Renarin Michelle Yeoh as Navani
  2. Kaladin notes a few times that stormlight doesn't significantly increase strength, but that it does a bit.
  3. Sorry, this made me snicker Yeah. Kelsier would never go hide somewhere. His idea of Surviving involves making sure he's the top dog.
  4. I'd just like to point out that the answer Brandon gave isn't necessarily the answer to the question by Kogiopsis. "Has he done this anywhere besides Roshar" is the question. Brandon doesn't say yes or no. He just says that Odium has been active on all other planets. Active could mean a number of things, including, but not necessarily meaning, that he made it possible for people to use magic that draws on him. Autonomy has multiple magic systems tied to her, depending on the planet. Ashyn's magic system is notably different than Roshar's magic system, though the same principles still apply (bonds?).
  5. This is what I was trying to say, except this actually makes sense. Thanks, Cal.
  6. Except, as stated, there isn't a "Survival" Shard.
  7. I would bet that the "in world" answer is that most humans and languages originated on Yolen, so there are bound to be some similarities in words and phrases. And that the real-world answer is that Brandon likes the sound of certain letter combinations, and they tend to pop up more often.
  8. I mean, think of Kelsier. When has he ever been able to hide or keep out of the center of attention? If he had a Shard...he would so not be off somewhere hiding. I don't recall Vin ever manifesting a physical body once she Ascended? She was able to get some power to Elend at the end, but she didn't create a physical body to do that. Yeah you can definitely believe that and I see why you do. But I don't think the evidence really points that way.
  9. Right, but again, the Shard's intent isn't "Survival." It wants to survive, but that's not really related to its intent. And also, a Cognitive Shadow is always going to have more trouble holding a Shard's power than a fully living person. Even a CS that's found a body again ought to still have that difficulty. The memory in the coin at the end of BoM is certainly Kelsier. But that kind of goes in the opposite direction from your theory? Since he's in a physical body, which a Shard generally doesn't use. Figuring out a way to get himself back into a body is orders of magnitude off from managing to pick up a Shard. There's a couple different ways to get a new body, after all. The Bands were charged via compounding. Any Fullborn, or a full Mistborn with medallions should be able to make them.
  10. There isn't a Survival Shard. There is a Shard that just wants to survive, yes, but "survival" is at most tangential to its intent. Also, given we know Kelsier's going to play a role in MB Era 3, and we saw his difficulties in picking up/holding a Shard in SH, it's very unlikely that he's "currently" holding a Shard.
  11. Hah! Interesting title! If I remember correctly, first, second and third sons are needed for growing food, ruling, etc. Only fourth+ sons are trained as fighters. So yes, Rock probably was trained as a fighter, but then his older brothers were killed. So more likely, rather than being a coward, he's no longer the fourth+ son, so no longer a fighter, and that's why he refused to fight. I think her inference there is not that she expected him to fight, but that she expected him to rule. It seems likely to me that it was his older brother(s) that were killed by Sadeas, and that he is actually the clan leader now. And of course, now that he has Shards, he should be King of the Horneater Peaks.
  12. You can click the Hide button at the top of your post to make it invisible to everyone else, or Report it to a mod and ask them to delete it. Read Mistborn Era 2 (Alloy of Law, Shadows of Self, Bands of Mourning), then read Secret History. Secret History will make you feel a lot better And Brandon is definitely willing to put his main characters through the wringer, and no one really has plot armor. But primary character deaths don't generally happen (so far).
  13. FYI, the WoB saying Autonomy has helped Odium is extremely tenuous. The Questioner specified in any way, which could mean anything from "Hey Rayse, there're two Shards on Sel" to directly lending a hand. It was also paraphrased. So don't put too much weight on it. As for the Shards on Roshar
  14. Bavadin, aka Autonomy, is weird. She's creating avatars of herself on various planets and seems to be able to move around a lot more than other Shards normally do.

    ORDER

Hmmm actually, I'd read White Sand 1 and 2 first, or just after Elantris (since I'm not fond of the Graphic Novels and wouldn't want you to judge Brandon's works based on them).

    ORDER

That order certainly works. I'd personally read Mistborn 4, 5, 6 (and 7 when it comes out) right after 1, 2, and 3, then read Warbreaker, myself. There are also novellas in Arcanum Unbounded.
  17. According to the Shadesmar map, it seems kind of mountainous.
  18. I think that any worldhopper worth their badge would have been able to escape or avoid being put on a bridge crew.
  19. A barrel of water would just be a bead. My theory on the land/sea inversion is because on land, people all see separate objects around them--rocks, dirt, shoes, boots, castles, tents, buildings, etc etc etc. So each of them has a bead. When people look and think of the ocean or a lake, they think of it as a singular thing, so it's solid. The land itself I don't think would have separate beads for countries. It's just the ocean of beads of objects that are on it. If a body of water freezes, and there are people who put things on it or build on it, it would slowly accumulate beads as well. But if it's something that will melt every year, then I don't think it'll be solid for long enough to make a difference in its Cognitive representation.
  20. A Brief History of the Cosmere, by Her Grace, Khrissalia, Duchess of Elis, on sale at the Sandersonian, with artifacts from across the Cosmere!
  21. It is possible to Awaken an object using a Divine Breath, but we've been RAFO'd on whether one could be used to create a Lifeless.
  22. Mmmmm....I'm not the one that asked that.
  23. They'd gotten reports that the ship had been delayed, and then other reports that the ship had gone down. Chapter 35 has this:
  24. We certainly can do that and it is logical. The point is just that it's not verified.
