  1. Dude, if you're pulling spoilers out of cryptic comments about potatoes, you must be psychic or something.
  2. It took five hours, but I finally got my operating system up to spec, and got the game downloaded. Say, "Apple." *Edit* Know what I said about Apples earlier? Forget that. It's all about Potatoes.
  3. Dude Zas, you are crazy.
  4. I was wondering where that misspelling came from.
  5. As far as I understand Liar is part of the Dragonsteel series (right?) , but is not the same story as the BYU Dragonsteel. He's going to publish both of them eventually. Dragonsteel will be very different from its current form, if only because he stole the Shattered Plains for SA, and is a better writer now. Anyway, I don't remember anything from Dragonsteel that sounds like Hoid's "distant place," but I only read it once a long time ago.
  6. We all want that book.
  7. I think the "distant place" is in an unpublished book.
  8. I've used the Dream World once. You access it through the Pokemon Global Link website. You make an account with Pokemon.com, and link that to the Global Link Site. Then you register your copy of the game with the GL site. The website will tell you how to do this. The GL site will keep track of how many online battles you've won/lost, who you've traded with, who your friends are, etc. To use the Dream World, access the C-Gear, and select Game Sync under "Online." You'll be taken to your Pokemon boxes, where you will choose one of your Pokemon to "tuck in." After about two minutes that Pokemon will show up on the Dream World portion of the GL site. Once you enter the Dream World, you can grow berries (something you can't do in the main game) and trade berries and items with your friends. (People on your friend list can access your area of the Dream World and pick up items you leave on a shelf.) Most importantly, the Dream World is the only way to obtain many of the Pokemon from previous generations. You wander around areas of the Dream world and meet Pokemon. If you win a Mini-game with the Pokemon you met, they are befriended. When you reach the Dream Tree (I'm not even gonna try to explain that) you can choose one Pokemon you befriended along the way to send back to your game. (I got a Mareep!) Once you've woken up your Pokemon on the site and the DS, you enter the Entra-link on the game, and you can capture the pokemon you sent over from the website. You are given a special Dream Ball that automatically succeeds in the capture. Whew. Does that make sense? Pokemon you get through the dream world usually have different abilities than their in-game counter-parts. For instance, Dream World Ditto will transform immediately on entering battle, so you don't have to waste a turn. You can find a complete list of all the Dream World Pokemon currently available, as well as everything about every Pokemon game ever, on Serebii.net.
  9. I am sorry Leinton, but you are wrong. In the extended editions, ALL of the gifts are shown being given through flashback. In the theatrical release, NONE of the gifts are shown, not even Frodo's. In The Return of the King, you hear Galadriel's voice as Frodo pulls it out, just so you know where he got it. Silus, am I right?
  10. Oh man, how did I forget? REDWALL. I actually started with Mossflower, but read every book in the series up until Loamhedge. I'm not sure if there were other books after that. I had heard about her death Silus, and it makes me sad. I always wanted a threequel to Derkholm.
  11. That's what I said! That's why you need to watch the extended edtions!
  12. I played Portal through Steam on my Mac... I don't suppose Portal 2 will be similarly compatible?
  13. Hmm... My third grade teacher gave me The Hobbit. Also read Diana Wynne Jones' Chronicles of Chrestomanci, and Dark Lord of Derkholm. Dungeons and Dragons was essentially a revelation for me. Say what you will, that game is what made me finally realize, "Hey, I think I really like this 'Fantasy' thing." I really like the world-building of 4E. (I know, I know.) Uh... yeah, then I found Elantris.
  14. People get on me all the time for correcting them, so I thought I'd just leave it alone.
  15. What more could we have done?
  16. I've often wondered about this myself. I see two possibilities. 1) Mistborn becomes the series that ties the other series together. The third trilogy will (according to interviews) feature an extremely scientifically advanced Scadrial, with space ships and who knows what else. This seems like good way to tie everything together. Downside would be that it doesn't really change the "Who the hell are these guys" reaction you predicted. 2) Brandon will make a new series that features Adonalsium/Hoid/17th Shard as its primary conflicts/characters/organizations. We already know he has plans for books featuring Hoid, presumably from before the shattering, so this seems likely. This also ensures that no reader needs to know about Adonalsium in order to enjoy his other books. But once they read this Adonalsium series reading his other books suddenly becomes more awesome. That's what I think anyway.
  17. In an interview Brandon mentioned that Shadesmar = The Cognitive Realm. You can most likely find it in the Brandonothology if you look for it. In addition, before TWOK came out, Brandon mentioned Hoid's skill at manipulating Shadesmar as a means of planet hopping. Presumably the map of Shadesmar in the back of TWOK is simply a map of the only parts of Shadesmar Rosharians are likely to reach. So, yes, Shadesmar is the Cognitive Realm, and seems to mirror the Physical Realm. *Edit* What he ^ said.
  18. Hmm... need to let this one sit in my mind for a while.
  19. I agree to stick with Brandon's work for the first round. Fandom loyalties shouldn't be much of an issue, since all the characters come from the fandom we're loyal to. Let's just vote for now. Keeps things simpler.
  20. Closer to 900 now. Is there nothing more we can do?
  21. Completely out of the blue, I popped Sonic Adventure 2 in just for chuckles. Man, back when the cube first came out this was just about the only game I had for a long time. My sisters and I basically spent an entire summer taking turns raising our chao. I had all the character upgrades and 170 emblems. The only emblems I was missing were the chao race and chao karate uber finals, and the "All A Rank" emblems. But that was a different time, and a different memory card. *sigh* The graphics are dated, the voice acting is terrible, and some of the dialogue just plain doesn't make sense. But man I love this game. And now I'm on a Sonic kick and seriously considering purchasing Sonic Chronicles, even though I still need to finish Baten Kaitos and Pokemon White. (I consider a Pokemon game finished when I catch every legendary and have a level 100 team.)
  22. You're always giving them away. Take a few AWESOME POINTS for yourself.
