  1. I didn't go into this thread wanting to make pony!epic's. I swear. But the more we talk about it, the more I'm liking this. Jeez, that sounds like human!Twilight, but ignoring that? Yeah. Crazy paranoid theories about where epics come from would very much be a thing in this era, wouldn't it? By the time David's come along there is some wonder, but it's more of a shrug of the shoulders "Eh, they're here now," kinda thing... but the early days? Definite conspiracy theory fodder.
  2. Welcome to Lian Yu, my Arrow-themed, not-exactly-a-blog topic! Because while we have blogs here, I don't think anyone actually uses them, and let's be honest: what's the point of posting our thoughts and innermost feelings online if no one ain't ever gonna see 'em? So, what is this? Well, it is what it sounds like: kind of a blog, sort of. Whenever something "big" comes out, like a film or a cartoon I like, I tend to try and post analysis of it. Most obviously is my I-Swear-It's-Not-Abandoned MLP rewatch... but there's been other material too. Honestly, I have been considering making a blog for a while now. So, this is me kinda, sorta, testing the waters. If it turns out successful, I might go for full-on, wordpress hosted separate site, but for now, you guy's get the full and exclusive Quiver experience. How fortunate. So, what I'm probably going to do is keep a running tally of my "big" posts here; you know, the one's where I tried to be as intelligent and articulate as a certain spren. I'm definitely looking for new material, though, so if there is stuff you guy's would like opinions of, or suggestions of things you'd like to see, let me know and I'll try and get around to it! And by things... well, I really do mean anything. Literary stuff, book reviews, movies, films, tv shows, fanfiction, character analysis, web shows, whatever. I will do anything for attention am still trying to figure this thing out, exactly, and knowing what you guys would like to see would be the easiest way for me to net more rep do that.
  3. ... This is the picture of sanity to you? I mean, I love Lyra. She's Best Pony. But she is crazy.
  4. I should have refreshed before posting, sorry... Does anyone in the early days actually know how epics are made? Because that might actually make for good motivation for a vanilla servant. They don't know how epic's are created so hey, hanging around one all the time seem's like as good a way as any to try and get superpowers. (I mean, they know it invovles Calamity, somehow, but it's not exactly a science. "Epic radiation" is just as valid a theory as "Super power bestowing starman")
  5. "Problems?" Sentry clicked her tongue, shaking her head. "There are no problems in Salem." But of course Heartsleeve would think that. Sentry eyed the girl up and down with an indulgent smile. If touching Sentry's things hadn't been a sign of the girls ignorance, that question was. But then again, Sentry couldn't really find it in her to blame the girl for it; after all, the Fractured States had that name for a reason. They were dangerous and wild and desolate, filled not just with problem Vanilla's, but problem Epic's. Civilisation was a rare Oasis in an unending desert. The like of Salem was utterly inconceivable. "You'll have to meet with Soulcaster first of course," she added quickly, "and I'm sure an ability like yours will have all sorts of uses. But problems? No. We don't have problems here. We are a very happy, very close-knit commun-" The woman cut off mid-sentence. As she spoke, Sentry had reached out with her power, surveying the city. Everything she said was completely true. Salem didn't have any problems, and -if she were to look into any Vanilla's house or ask them- she was sure they would agree. She felt quite a twinge of pride at that fact. After all, Soulcaster was too busy lounging around the arena to enforce real order and peace and serenity in the city, so, really, it was an achievement all of Sentry's making. Everyone knew that they could rest easy knowing that she was watching over them... Which was why the fact that one of her posters had black pits where the eyes should be was distressing. She refocused her attention; she had enough posters that she could see that one from another angle. And what she saw was a pair of sunglasses scribbled over her posters eyes. She rapidly flicked through the other posters in the area. A teddy bear? A doodle? Throughout the city, someone hadn't just touched them- they had scribbled all over them, vandalizing them, vandalizing Sentry and- Sentry suddenly stopped cycling through her posters. It wasn't by choice. But she had seen something scribbled onto one of the posters, and suddenly, she just couldn't look through them anymore. Sentry resisted the urge to shake as she raised a hand to her upperlip, where someone had drawn a thick, handlebar moustache. "I..." The woman blinked, focusing on Heartsleeve and trying to sound composed. It was probably difficult with her hand covering her mouth. "I... what was I saying?"
  6. I have plans for Lyra.
  7. ...Am I the only one who thinks "Love Triangle" would be a great name for an epic? damnation, I still have to make a Salem post or two, but now I'm trying to come up with an epic that that name works for. And since Sentry is Epic!Starlight Glimmer, I'm thinking Love Triangle would be epic!Cadance and urgh. You guys.
  8. So... I saw it for a second time last night. Overall, I think it's a film worth watching. If nothing else, give it a chance and make up your own mind. yes, it is a very different kind of Superhero movie, and yes, I remain kind of frustrated that a Superman film doesn't showcase the character at his best... but I also feel it is a marked improvement from Man of Steel, and actually has me interested in seeing where they go next with the DCEU. (Even if I am still mad at how it's messing with the Flash and Arrow...)
  9. Well. I might have just done gone got myself fired. This is exactly what my self-esteem needed.
  10. I am such a brat.
  11. I don't have time for season 6 thanks to work. : | I'm working until Monday, which I have to spend sleeping after Sundays shift, then working Tuesday through Friday... I like having a job, but damnation. I have no free time these days...
  12. Season 6 started?! Gah! I'm working for the next few days...might not get a chance to see it. : (
  13. I...huh. I...kinda liked it? ...I feel dirty. But yeah, I found it fun enough. Primarilly as an action vehicle, granted, but still. Not as bad as the reviews and interviews were preparing me for. ...granted, this is a movie featuring BATMAN, SUPERMAN and WONDER WOMAN. Coming out of it shrugging my shoulders and being "That was okay" is still kind of a massive failure on some level. I'll get full thoughts up after I've had time to "digest" the film some -and who knows, maybe my opinion will change- but there are two things I want to comment on.
  14. So. I finally saw the Gravity Falls finale last night. ...Guys. Guys. I might have cried a little.
  15. Wonder Woman is the reason I wanna see this movie. (Fine, slight lie. I rather liked the most recent trailer, with Batfleck.) But yeah, Wonder Woman looks awesome, and I am kinda hoping for her to carry the film. The fact that I'm going into this knowing nothing about her role in the film only has me more excited and interested.
  16. Oh, but not one thing! Something Snyder let slip in an interview that makes me seriously apprehensive about this films characterisation. I have always defended Man of Steel's ending. To me, it looked like a perfect counterpoint to current morality and superhero films where villains die in the 3rd act. It was a moment where a good man has no choice but to do something monstrous, something that goes against his fundamental morality. And he does it. And he hates himself for it. I honestly believed that was a genuine, complex and Powerful moment of meta-narrative. If Snyder is serious about fans just being mad at him for "making Superman grow up" (another interview quote apparently), and the spoiler above is true? Then oh boy. Guys. Guys. I will have opinions.
  17. Well...there is a UK release tomorrow, so I'm going to it. Reviews don't leave me optimistic, though. Anyone interested in snarky rage response afterwards?
  18. Should I try and get a Sentry post up later today? Kinda been busy with work and stuff, but... worried it seems like I'm jumping from one plot point (Haertsleeve) to another (Vandal) like a bad OC.
  19. I'm thinking of trying to write a Darth's and Droids-style take on Stormlight Archive. Would anyone here be interested in reading that? Alternatively, anyone interested in drawing it if I did scripts?
  20. Do not buy more rats.Buy turtles. The rats you already have can train them into an elite fighting force, and the seeds of your ninja army will be down.
  21. This is... basically Sentry's whole underlying philosophy, actually. Soulcaster is unbelievably powerful... so he's being comparatively lazy. So her thought is that "weak" epics like herself are actually better, since they have to be more creative and clever with their powers. It Begins. ...No it doesn't. I have work today and tomorrow, and I'm not sure if Sentry should "abandon" Heartsleeve and Countdown on account of this yet. So I'm trying to figure out my post. So... It Begins Soon-ish? My thoughts exactly. Also, I loved Vandals post, just in general. Setting it up as a Battle of the Artists should make for some descriptions and stuff down the road. "But I thought you wanted whini-" *BOOM*
