I'd probably start at the very start, just to keep things straight actually. If I do this, that is; still of two minds on the whole thing.

Eh. Stan Lee is alright, don't get me wrong! But the more I read about comic culture, the more convinced I am that Jack "The King" Kirby earned that title fair and square.

First of all, I didn't realize 'Heroman' was actually a thing. It's always sad when a name is derived from sarcasam. On a side note, I saw an anime character with a name ending in -man, and it reminded me of a show I used to watch, and love, as a kid. ..I mean, seriously. I remember absolutely nothing about it, other than the name and the main character. And I think he had, like, a 30 minute time limit on how long he could use his powers or he would turn evil...? If anyone rememebrs it more clearly, let me know, because damnation, now I'm curious.

Haven't gotten around to picking up any Marvel books, though I might start on some X-Books post-Civil War... But almost every reaction I've seen to Civil War II was... astoundingly negative. Though it was mostly from people who also were proud to say how much they hated Bendis to begin with, so... -
So... the trailer for Pokemon Sun/Moon was released, which was cool. And, it kinda made me think, 'Hey! Pokemon is a popular franchise! Why not see if anyone is interested in a PBP of it?' So... here we are. Would a Pokemon RPG have any interest for people?

Peter Pan doesn't seem that fast. "Lyrical" flight, the kind that emphasizes poetry and stuff, doesn't seem to be in the same speed range as sheer sprinting; t's advantage is mostly maneuverability.

Superhero secret identities are weird. I mean, think about it. The superhero has a secret identity; that's a trope of the genre. A standard story is the hero tryign to keep their life secret from their loved ones, for their own protection. This makes no sense. I mean, seriously! I have had this issue with superhero fiction for a long time, but honestly! There's even a line in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man films where he says that he can't tell MJ who he is because "If my enemies found out who I was, they would hurt you to get to me". That seems to be the line usually brought out to explain why heroes don't tell their friends and fmaily who they are. In what world does that make any sense? How does telling your friends and family who you are put them in danger, unless you don't trust them not to blab about it? In fact, it makes them less safe because, if your enemies do decide to target them, they aren't going to expect it, and they will have no idea why it's happening to them. At least if you tell them "Hey, bee tee dubs, I'm Heroman, so, you know, super villains might try to kill you. Just FYI," they might think to pack some mace or a tazer in case VillainGuy tries to use them as a bargaining chip.

Hmm. I need to check out that conversation; I've never really thought much of Poison Ivy. Not for lack of trying, really; I liked her in the animated series, but I have kind of a fondness for that goofy "mind control spore" character. But I can't think of any iconic story line she has, the way that the Joker has the Killing Joke, or Two-Face has The Long Halloween. (My favorite villain is the Riddler, and I couldn't name a perfect story for him either... but that's because the character himself is just so perfect that an actual storyline is almost just a bonus : P)

I admit, I haven't read any of the recursive fiction yet. I found rules for a Fallout:Equestria RPG which I've been wanting to play with, but that's it. I do have an idea or two for FO:E fics I want to write, but... never quite gotten around to it. Is Horizons any good?

I'm sure there probably is some kind of long (and most likely fascinating) etymology behind how Richard="Dick=genetalia... but it is not a topic I have any interest in looking up right now. As another point of humorous and unfortunate superhero names? Green Arro'ws sidekick is called Speedy. He's a heroine addict.

So. Funny/awkward story for everyone. There's a DC character I'm a really, really big fan of, called Dick Grayson. Non-comic book fans might know him as the original Robin, or as Nightwing, or as that Robin that everyone ships with Starfire. Dick is awesome. Like, seriously. He's almost like DC's version of Spider-Man, which is a pretty great start, but besides that, in terms of character? Imagine a well-adjusted Batman. Dick Grayson is the best, and I will talk about him forever and ever. Funny story, he's a serious ladies man, too. But... I have seen some people complaining about stuff he's gotten up to in his latest series. Or, more accurately, stuff that writers have gotten up to with the character. Specifically, the idea that the writers are queer-baiting the character by having everyone (including himself) comment on how attractive he is, and having his cover identity by "gay French gymnast". Thing is, thinking about it? I'd be cool if Dick was bisexual. I'd actually hate if they pulled an Iceman and retconned him as being secretly gay, because bisexual male heroes are one of the least positively represented groups, and revealing him to be gay would ruin years of storylines related to his love life, but I digress. So, I was kind of curious. Sure, there's slash fiction, but that's fan fiction. I was kind of curious if they was anything in the comics themselves that might support that reading of the character. I got as far as typing "bisexual Dick Gra" before I realized that is not a string of words I want to load into google on a public computer.

Is the meta vibe helped by the fact that my explanation for it was she got gifted by a red suited epic voiced by Ryan Reynolds named Fourth Wall? Why Kobold, you make it sound like this is a shameless exercise on my behalf to cultivate more upvotes for myself.

I think you all underestimate how crazy Lyla is. ...Though now I have this image of epic's doing greater and greater crimes to try and terrify some sense into her. "Wow! You used your heat based powers to melt those corpses into a giant tapestry? That is so cool! And artistic! And recycling!" "What is wrong with you?!"

Hmm. Fantasy tends to be martial based, when soldiers, wars and so forth. A lot of fantasy societies look down upon readers and the like. They are criticised for doing so, yes...but still, a lot of fantasy societies follow the Medieval Chivalry and conception of Martial Honour. Even in the Stormlight Archive, Alethekar - the primary viewpoint - is the nation of war. Scholars exist, obviously, and there are the Shin, but those are presented as alternatives, rather than the norm... So what if a story was told primarily from their point of view? A society like the Shin, where warfare is regarded with the least esteem. Pacifist Fantasy, I suppose... Probably a lot more politics based. Might just be a short story about a Philosopher King or something...

Thanks! Only 4X game I ever played the the 360-port of Civilisation. I agree though, they sound super fun. I'm not a Pc gamer, though, so I don't have access to any of them which is a shame.
