  1. What if a city was a God? Not sacred. Not special or important or culturally significant, like Atlantis, Camelot, Shangri-la, or Uritheru. I mean, an actual, worshipped as an actual God. still thinking the implications of that through, but it might be interesting...
  2. I don't think this will be the case, but can you imagine Dalinar's reaction if it were? His brother, and two of his former allies, we're in one secret society, his bodyguard and future daughter-in-law were secret Knights Radiant, his son is a Truthwatcher, Wit is...Wit. "Is there anyone around here who is NOT a part of a secret society? Anyone?!"
  3. Being able to understand the terror of my enemies is very important for my character. Actually, in all seriousness, the character I'm building at the moment is fun. A priest of the god of walls and keys, which I'm interpreting as 'siege engineer'. Who also happens to be a monkey.
  4. I say fantasy, by default. Never really tried anything else.
  5. ...is it poor RPG etiquette to pick languages you know the enemy will have? It's metagaming, but I don't want to short circuit scenes with negotiations. I just want to be able to understand their screams of terror when I wade through them with a battleaxe.
  6. I found this kind if a funny gaming story. So, I was playing a PbP RPG,based on MLP. (The system was called 'Aspirations of Harmony', if you're curious). It was a time travel based game, so, since the others had already been playing for a while, we decided I'd just jump in at the next period they went to, which turned out to be the Equestrian version of the fifties. While the rest of the party wrapped up their exploits in Ancient Zebrica, I posted an introduction for my character- basically a fifties version of Ditzy Do crossed with Erin Brokovich- named Silver Lining. So, I post my character wandering around the "cursed" factory she works in after hours...and she happens to cross paths with the time travelling Big Bad. Of course, she thinks he's just a tourist investigating the rumors that the Rainbow Factory is powered by grinding up children (rumors the management started to get tourists in the first place) so he tries to ask him to politely leave. Which was when Cthullhu attacked. Well, I can't say it was Cthullhu; the game got dropped shortly after, so we never got confirmation. But something happened; a rift in space time opened, and a tentacle reached out to snag the Big Bad. (The actions of the rest of the party implied it was one of a number of cosmic forces reacting to the villain jacking around history) Of course, Silver saw a dude getting attack by...something, so she tried to help! I said she was based on Ditzy Do. Her combat build was meant as gambling/high risk. One of her abilities, chain lightning, chained for so long as I rolled a certain number. So. I used chain lightning. And rolled high, so it continued. And continued. And continued. And continued. It was the most absurd string of luck I've ever had, since it meant my level one pegasus? Might have managed to Accidently flash fry an elder god on her first combat roll. As I say. The guy ended up leaving the forum before I got resolution to the situation, which is a shame. I was curious about whether or not Silver Lining was secretly a badass.
  7. So...someone told me that Google hangouts uses VOIP, so evrlen if you do video call someone, telephone numbers stay secure? Can anyone confirm that for me? (sorry to ask so much...)
  8. (As someone whose ignorance of both Judaism and Islam laps 'stupefying' to become 'vaygely impressive', can I just chime in to say this is a really interesting and enlightening conversation to read)
  9. ...'kay, so, obviously, when I know Pathfinder half decently, I need to homebrew a bunch of Vanara sub-types because yes.
  10. Jasnah. I'd lose, but it would be fascinating to talk to her! Would you rather be locked in a room with Kaladin, or Hrathen? (so much grumpy...)
  11. Honestly, now I'm just wondering whether or not every class can be turned into a monkey. Those three seem to correspond to rogue, barbarian, wizard pretty well... Seriously, yes! Much help! Honestly, I was leaning towards either a tamarin (no idea for class), or a Capuchin monkey styled as a cleric. (Since...they are trained as helper one's in the real world. Possibly with some kind of service/slave background for flavor) Spider money wizard might be fun, though..
  12. The Great Old Ones. (Seons > Aons > Aeons > Lovecraft)
  13. Anyone know anything about monkies? I figure @Kobold King is my best bet for this kind of ecology issue, but... ...oh, right, guess I need to say why I need info? So, I'm thinking of playing a character in a Pathfinder PbP. It's set in a jungle so I thought it would be fun to play a vanara, which are basically monkey humanoids. I wanted to come up with some kind of neat character, so I figured I'd Base them off of a New World monkey...but wow, there are a lot of monkey species, and I don't know where to start. Any advice?
  14. Welcome!

  16. Well, hey if you guys want to be official, you could always start a group in the social groups forum. Besides that...er...sorry. Don't think I've spoken toyou Before? So saying hi now.
  17. Howdy! Welcome to the asylum!
  18. More accurately, how the heck did they do it? So, here's the thing; the magic of Sel is complex. Delicate. Fine. The entire plot of Elantris is based around what can happen when one line of an aon is drawn incorrectly. With all that in mind, just how on earth did the Elantrians discover their magic to begin with? It appears so precise that I can't imagine someone casting an Aon by accident -unlike, say, how Vin was able to burn her "luck" as a child- and yet I can't recall anything that would say how they came to the realisation of how their magic works. And yes, Raoden was able to come up with Aon's, figure out what they did and fix Elantris... but he was working off of tomes of research to provide him with a starting point for his studies. The first magic users of Sel, presumably, were working blind. So how did they manage to work out the precise symbols and shapes needed to cause magic to work?
  19. Ben Percy's Green Arrow. Rebirth had me optimistic. Overall, #1 was alright, but lines like that -and certain moments in it- make me very wary. Percy's track record doesn't help.
