  1. You seem like a nice guy. There needs to be a bigger reason?
  2. Can anyone give me a verdict on Drow Tales? Good fantasy comic, or bad fantasy comic?
  3. Passive-Aggresive Batman is Best Batman.

  4. Oh, huzzah! It works! Thanks! ...And yeah, found this. I was looking for a picture of Khriss. I don't even.
  5. (And, for the record... this isn't a picture of Khriss from the book. But I couldn't find that. So please accept this awesome looking Khriss artwork by Botanica in it's place!)
  6. This is a thread for random stuff, and this is sort of random. Or maybe not, since my MLP fan-ness is well known. Except maybe it is random, because ya know what? This song has practically nothing to do with MLP, and it has everything to do with MLP. I really, really like this song. ...But I can't figure out how to post images and videos directly to the site anymore. Advice?
  7. I think I might have run into a bit of a problem. See, there's an idea I've been batting around for a couple of days. I thought maybe it would be kind of fun to do a story based around the wife of a king or would-be Emperor. I was actually picturing him as being in the vein on Alexnder the Great, or Gavilar; someone who embarked on a large, and super successful, war of conquest, seizing control of a heretofore unprecedented amount of territory, and all united beneath his banner... At which point he dies. Obviously, in the Stormlight Archive, Dalinar is -barely- able to hold Alethekar together. Historically, Alexander's death led to the Wars of the Diadochi, where his generals and family members basically carved up the Empire amongst themselves. What I was thinking was, spinning that off in a slightly different direction. After fantasy!Alexander's death, his army and successors start debating what to do amongst themselves... at which point his wife basically steps in and says "No, I'm carrying his child, so I'm not letting everything we worked for fall apart. I'm in charge." Problem: I can barely make ONE interesting culture. Part of the hallmarks of Alexander the Great's conquest was the fact that he conquered so many different cultures and beliefs into his empire... and I'm not quite sure how to build that many decent societies, in a realistic fashion. Any advice? I'm sort of worried I'm going to end up drawing too much on historical precedent...
  8. Is... is this the hip lingo these days? I don't understand what this means god i'm old
  9. Much hipster, I see. You should start posting thoughts before you think of them. It's what politicians do.
  10. @TwiLyghtSansSparkles I actually watched Angel before I did Buffy. I am going to be very interested in some ofyoir thoughts...
  11. Dumb question: Who does one email to request a copy of White Sand? Can't find the email address anywhere...
  12. @Delightful This is...kind of depressing. I can think of romantic characters -or male leadss who have a romance- but not any male romantic leads, where the point is the romance.
  13. Well, the Voldemort voice in my head is officially Orson Welles now. Thanks Twi.
  14. Hmm, now I'm imagining Hogwarts Houses as heraldry. Like, Shallan having a quartered banner of blue and Green, with a Raven and a Snake.
  15. @TwiLyghtSansSparkles @Edgedancer
  16. I thought honorspren were supposed to be intelligent and articulate! All this one does is buzz around saying "Hey!" and "Listen!" Here, someone can take this Nightblood. I have too many annoying voices in my head already now...
  17. The intersection of the Cosmere to A Song of Ice and Fire, and the ways in which Brandon's might be reacting and responding to it, is something I've been curious about for a while. Just sayin'.
  18. Haven't read the prose, and I come at this from the perspective of a comic book fan. I think the story is too incomplete to judge right now. And that is a very serious concern. If that last page was the cliffhanger to a monthly, I'd be fine...but I have no idea when the next book will be out, so it ends up just sort of lying there. Hopefully, it will read better as a whole, though even then, I agree with sentiments from te others here; the police woman's story, to me, was too abrupt. I actually liked Khryss, though, if only because she was So different from what I had expected. I actually wish we had had more scenes of her and Kenton. (The fact her colour scheme and arrogance reminds me of Trixie might make me biased.) The artwork has a mixed reception to me. I definitely agree with characters being samey; I legitimate find it hard to tell which sand master is which. On the other hand, there was a vibrancy to the darksiders, and I liked how the magic was presented. It really did lend itself to a more visual take, I think; it emphasised the difference between the showy magic of the masters, and Kenton's smaller, cleverer uses of it. Two points I will say though. Firstly, Kenton is a deadringer for Connor Hawke, which amused me. And second,as accurate as it is, I wonder if perhaps some liberties should have been taken with the Sand Master uniforms. I like them -don't get me wrong- but the look of the costumes, the settings and Kenton's parkour in collecting the spheres reminded me a lot of the Assassin's Creed franchise.
  19. We have cosmere in books, and (now) graphic novel format! Is there any other medium you guys would like to see original Cosmere stories be produced in? A television show based on Vex? A theatre play set in Shadesmar? (Please note, as awesome as Mistborn movie might be... I'm talking new cosmere stories, not adaptions of existing material) Personally, I'd be interested to see (well, hear) if someone could create a story set in the cosmere as an audio drama...
  20. Maybe this treads too closely on the 'no prose' rule...? I'm just wondering if the graphic novel is the "official" White Sand book in the Cosmere sequance, or is it more of a trimmed down adaption, with the REAL white Sand to be released eventually?
  21. You know, everyone makes that connection. I'd thought maybe more French, or Celtic, but maybe I should just go straight up Grecian with the premise...
  22. Very much so! I disagree with some choices they made, but overall entertaining, and I'm a fan of audio drama, so...
