  1. ... Now I'm imagining the Ironborn mugging people for their fashion. "We do not sow" isn't too different from "We do not sew."
  2. Depends on whether you accept Majora's Mask as literal canon, I suppose. Heh. Before you mentioned sunscreen, my assumption was that the unburned hand was the safe hand. Just be grateful that C'thullhu was satisfied with only your hat, I suppose?
  3. I headcanon Jasnah as maybe-ace. Our ships are incompatible, even if they formed a Shysnah shaped fleet. So, I suppose this means war.
  4. Could be worse. At least you aren't being abducted by aliens in a creepy sidequest.
  5. I have to back Twilyght and say Steve. I admit, I emphasise a lot with the guy; his good-natured intent, bumbling nature...yeah, I maybe see a lot of myself in him. Aside from him, I like so many people. So far as characters who haven't been mentioned yet... I actually found the writing for Michelle Nguyen surprisingly fun. It's a character who could be annoying, but I actually found her and Maureen a highlight during the latest storyline. (Do we have any official name for it yet? The only name I've seen is spoilers.)
  6. I am so glad to see this topic is alive again.
  7. So... I've had a few ideas floating around aimleslly for a bit. Inspired by Delightful, and Writing Excuses, I'm trying to weld sone of them together...but I'm worried they don't quite fit, or that they would be better suited for seperate works. What I'm thinking is that...in this world, water has a magical kick to it, being primed with extra nutrients and such. This results in plantlife being more...more. The whole setting is especially verdant and fecund. And, since the plants are magically better, so are the animals that live off them. The extra nutrition promotes the growth of antlers and horns in animals, tying back into an old idea I mentioned about a society where antlers are viewed as crowned species. The other part I'm considering is... I mentioned my "magical fashion" idea a few pages back. Tying that into this as well. Animals and plants have a slight magical quality to them which wizards ("Coutouriers") can weave into fabric. So, a cloak woven from a particular type of flower might have a particular quality which others don't, for instance. I'm thinking...a late renaissance society, French inspired, where appearance really does matter. There is a strong chivalric tradition, and really strict roles of how people are supposed to behaved (dunno if those roles apply to gender though...) And...two characters I've been considering for it.
  8. Have ya checked out Tanis, yet?
  9. ...Trader Joes is a real thing? I've always assumed that was a stock phrase, not an actual place. What else have people not told me?
  10. Thank you. I love Rysn's chapters. Good to know I'm not alone.
  11. Bah. Unpithy title. So. ...okay. I need help. I have...pitched a lot of ideas at people. An annoying amount, I suspect. Part of why I do so is because... I have no idea how to turn a decent idea into an actual story, a concept into a world or a plot... So...yeah. Any advice on how to address that flawed?
  12. I've had to read BBC'S debate covered, so maybe this is biased, but: How is Trump even still an option here?
  13. Wasn't this week bi visibility week? I think so, and if so... This is great timing. So, bisexual!Shallan. Great! More representation is always cool, especially since bisexuality is particlarly unrepresented in media. So... Yeah. This is cool.
  14. Disney Princess Superheroes? These are both of my favorite things.
  15. I'm pretty sure that that is exactly what they do do? Or, they airbrush people's faces to clear up any distinguishing imperfections. ...Which, actually, is kind of funny. I remember reading somewhere -and seeing pictures- that show how a lot of portraits painted back in Medieval/Georgian period look exactly the same, since people were working off of a standardised view of beauty, and if someone was rich enough to commision a portrait you might not want to offend them by suggesting they didn't match what society had identified as "beautiful". (Granted, there was also the opinion that physical appearance was a reflection of moral virtue. Drawing a man as ugly would be seen as defaming his character which... again. Powerful land owners in an era before trials. Not a smart move.)
  16. Eh, most guys I know irl are kind of jerks. ...But I'm also just talking physically. I mean, seriously. I do not get the appeal of men, at all. Which... yeah. Of course I wouldn't get the appeal, since I'm not wired to think of men as attractive. But I have zero idea what it is that someone would find attractive traits in guys. ...though, I'm sure that that same comment could be turned for anything. "I don't see why people find X attractive," and all that. Different people, different opinions.
  17. ..Eh, storm it. Might as well throw this out here. I do identify as male, and straight. But I'll admit, I have had some idle curiosity about how the other side lives. "What would it be like to be a girl," or, "What would it be like to date a guy". ... though, important note to add that idle wondering is about as far as that stuff actually goes. Looking at guys, I see absolutely no reason why anyone would be interested in us, ever. We're kind of awful.
  18. Well, that's why I'm saying confirmed, rather than a theory. CLEARLY SHE HAS BEEN DRAWN TO THIS ROOM BY DESTINY, AND NOT RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT.
  19. ... I just realized Koschei is rather similar, in name, to Koschek. Koschei reincarnated as a cat, confirmed?
  20. I rather dislike this idea, simply because I was toying with the notion of "Necropunk" a while back. Please do not do anything with this diea, or it will overshadow what little I was tossing around. ...More seriously, this could be an interesting setting. I don't know what you had in mind, but I can't help but think of the Victorian era, with child workers, and smog blotting the skyline, and the shift towards industry rather than romantic pastoralism. (Also, the Frankenstein stuff, which I don't think is technically Victorian, but the industrial themes and stuff kind of fits and shut up.) So... interesting setting, and probably avery timely one what with the whole debt collection and wealth disparity stuff going on these days. Incredibly depressing, but hey; novels work as a reflection of society and all that. I'm a fan of Studio Ghibli, so one might think I'd be more excited for this pitch than I am... but for some reason, I'm not? Dunno why. I think Asian culture is interesting, I love female leads, and this certainly hits a lot of the themes I'd be interested in reading about. The pitch as it is, doesn't quite hit me as brilliant the way that the other three do though. And I'm not quite sure why that is, but I'll try and figure it out and get back to you?
  21. Interspecies romances can be difficult. ...but, jokes based on curse filters sorry for the bad history. At least you got a good result out of it and found yourself?
  22. Personally, I think this is such an alien society, that it might work best as a short story or novels; concentrate the disconnect and dissonance we feel, and don't really give us enough of a glass of their "full" society. Keep it somewhat bizarre and alien.
  23. I don't have a Pottermore profile. I have sadly accepted my fate that my alicorn patronus is a headcanon and nothing more.
  24. I spend a lot of time complaining about work. I'm gonna throw them a bone: My boss rearranged the entire month rota because I said I'd prefer to work a certain type of shift going forward. I didn't ask him to, and I said repeatedly that I was cool with working what had already been given to us until we got caughtup. And he changed it anyway Almost makes me feel bad for all the whining I do.
  25. How would you know what your patronus is unless you could already cast it! Twilyght muggleborn, confirmed.
