A mistborn would not have to make the 400 year jump in one go. They could use duralumin and cadmium for controlled bursts of time travel, stopping to grab a bite to eat at a local diner along the way.

As do the longest prison terms

Brandon said something about the beliefs held by certain characters shaping them to an extent. And spren are shaped by how they are perceived. If the Aimians straddle the divide between the physical and cognitive realm, then they alter their body just by changing their belief about what it should look like. If they exist in both realms, then it might also explain why their shadows point the wrong way.

Had to give you the plus one for the almost perfect remark. :-)

It could have been a dustbringer or an edge dancer. We do not see a sign of her using a surge other than friction.

Hmmmm. Taln's comments to Shallan when he refers to her being one of Ishi's knights takes on a new context after considering that Nohadon basically founded the KR when he designed the book. The problem is that he was around after a desolation and the Heralds leave between desolations, implying that if Nohadon were Ishi', then he had been hanging out on Roshar after he was supposed to have gone back to damnation.

Awesome! +1 since that's all I can give. Most amazing thing I have seen done with Legos. Having said that, dude, you need a girlfriend.

What a r e the most important words a man can speak?
Chlehrma replied to Nahema's topic in Stormlight Archive
Life before death Strength before weakness Journey before destination. Plus all the other oaths. -
I think Sigzil would be a good match, but I would rather see her date Hoid. If she dated Hoid we could start a betting pool to determine how many chapters it would take for her to try to kill him. Kaladin is a no. He already has the hots for other people's women. More likely his childhood sweetheart will start chasing him once she gets a look at his eyes. She will say, "Kaladin, you have scars of slavery, but you can glow. I think you must kiss me now." Amaram is a definite no and a potential shard kabob. Taravagiananian is too old. Dalinar, Adolin, and Renarin are too related... Rock would be interesting for a match, but probably prefers his women beefier. Teft is too old as well. Nalan is emotionally distant and likes to kill surgebinders. Taln is insane--though that would certainly be interesting. Helaran is too dead. Gaz is too Gaz. Szeth... Szeth... Vasher...he does like strong minded women. Axies...at least their shadows would both be going the wrong way together. No one...yeah no one seems like a safe bet...unless she gets a book and works out her demons.

Yeah, in that context it could be significant.

Can Lift create an infinite source of Stormlight for herself?
Chlehrma replied to Levian's topic in Stormlight Archive
It would be nice for brandon to turn lift into a chubby superhero (KR). There need to be more chubby superheroes. Plus if darkness starts chasing after lift again, then he will get a new moniker. -
“Tozbek was a short man, even-shouldered with Shallan, and he wore his long white Thaylen eyebrows up in a curious spiked pattern. It was like he had two waving fans above his eyes, a foot long each. He wore a simple knit cap and a silver-buttoned black coat. She’d imagined him getting that scar on his jaw in a furious sea battle with pirates. The day before, she’d been disappointed to hear it had been caused by loose tackle during rough weather.” “It’s not polite,” Shallan protested. Tozbek bellowed a laugh” Definitely not Nalan. Nalan has a white crescent of pale skin, possibly a scar, on the cheek and is untouched by emotion. Plus he is ebony skinned, so definitely not thaylen. It would have been pretty cool though. Bah, ninja'd

I do not think night blood will grant abilities like a nahel bond. More likely, he absorbs stormlight (investiture) and feeds it into the wielder or keeps it for himself. Imagine him fighting someone wielding an Honorblade. If he hits them, he drains their stormlight thus destroying their advantage. Perhaps if he blocks an honor blade he drains the abilities off of the blade and his wielder benefits by gaining access to the same ability. All speculation, but it would make Szeth equal to any herald or KR in combat. What I want to know is if he severes nahel bonds or kills spren when he hits a shard blade. That would be devastating to KR.

If you have gotten this far and still have not realized that there are spoilers, then set down the tablet or step away from the computer, go outside, get a rock, then hit yourself in the head between three and five times. Hoid would approve this message. BTW SPOILERS ahead. Very nice post, Argent. I do not agree with all of it, but it was very well thought out. Kaladin's ability with the spear definitely came from his bond with Syl--the wind guiding him and nothing being able to stop him when he fought with the strength of protecting the fallen. Also some spoilers near the end of WoR when he is practicing with his spear demonstrate that the skill is not wholly his. This may also be shared by Bondsmiths in that Adolin, an accomplished duelist and perhaps the best alive, watches Dalinar fight and expresses a sense of awe at the beauty of his movements. The problem with this is that the surge that links Bondsmiths and Windrunners is adhesion. Nothing about that indicates an ability to fight, but Dalinar has several decades of combat experience to account for his ability, so the surge link may be entirely irrelevant. Shallan's ability to take memories is definitely linked to her spren in some way. There was something in one of the excepts from the words of radience that indicated that all Lightweavers had some manner of mental skill that set them apart. I assume this to mean perfect recall in one manner or another such as languages, images, etc. Additionally, she has the power to transform people by making them want to be more than they are--though she has to draw a picture to do it. I do not know if this is tied to transformation or just a side effect of her light weaving since it effectively reshapes perception. Excellent call out with Jasnah and her sense of direction. I completely missed that when reading. It makes sense that an Elsecaller would have a hard time getting lost. This is likely shared with Willshapers since they also have the travel surge. Ym is able to discern another's pain or point of suffering--empathy/compassion. We see this in his interaction with the child and in his explanation of the universe. We also see this in Lift when she knows instinctively that the Larkin is suffering and how Darkness feels. Renarin looks into people's souls--perhaps he is the equivalent of a savant and this is what let's him see the future or maybe it's because he has double cultivation based surges? IDK. The instinctive empathy may be linked directly to the Growth surge. Dalinar--His ability to lead men may be tied to the surge, though it is hard to say. He was a warleader long before he started bonding with the Stormfather and having visions. We do see him unknowingly use some surges in WoK like when he saves El from the chasmfiend and the inconsistency of the Thrill demonstrates that he was on the cusp of a full bond (WoB indicates that Kaladin was not always immune to the Thrill but was unaffected after bonding Syl). So it is possible that some of his actions in WoK relate to the bond. As you stated earlier, it is too early to tell exactly what innate benefit may exist. Sadeas--it looks like the innate benefit of bonding a death spren is that your shard blade becomes unbound and you twitch a bit. Oh, and everyone else gets happier. Oh, my mistake, that was not a nahel bond.

Nohadon was a title and I can not find anything in the text to justify the belief that the original lives--though I guess he could be a spren (the embodiment of the beliefs about Nohadon much like the Stormfather is the embodiment of the beliefs regarding Honor.) Regardless, It is likely that the Nohadon who wrote the way of kings is dead. Having said that, it is possible that somewhere on Roshar there exists a person who fills the same role as the one upon whom the title was bestowed since Nohadon was a title. For all we know, it may have become the title for the leader of the KR after the original Nohadon wrote the Way of Kings. If that is true, the Dalinar would be the new Nohadon.

I think brandon also said something along the lines that Surgebinders could bind with more than one spren.
-
That really makes me wonder who the third god is as well as what types of spren relate to him or her.
-
Maybe seeing Kaladin with his sword will perk him up a bit
-
You might say he protects it like he would his own skin...I think he burned it or possibly embedded it in his flesh to be used feruchemically-though if he is consuming metal flakes it make burning more likely. We know Hoid time travels forward. If he did burn lerasium this means he can bounce forward in time using duralumin plus cadmium--he would just have time find a safe place to hide while doing so.
-
Do we have definite confirmation that the three gods of Roshar are Odium, Honor, and Cultivation? The reason I ask is that Odium seems to pop, around the cosmere without calling any one area home. The other reason is a spoiler having to do with bond smiths, so I am not posting it here.
-
It makes sense for Hoid to take the blade to "keep it safe." Plus he does not have a nahel bond, so he probably wants some way to directly access the magic on Roshar.

I wonder what else he forgot. For instance, in the last chapter he speaks of the familiarity with how using stormlight feels and ponders where he has felt it before.
-
It is also possible that the investiture leak that the returned experience is tied directly to nalthis and the shard there--kind of like a return to equilibrium. It may be that he no longer loses breaths each week since they have no place to go--course it could also be true that he just goes home and buys more breaths periodically. He could just stockpile them since he only loses one a week.

[Full Book Spoilers] Cometlike Spren/The Screaming is a Spren
Chlehrma replied to Moogle's topic in Stormlight Archive
There was a scene where Eshonai heard screaming and when she removed her hand from her breast a small orange spren was released and started hovering around her. When I think happens to listeners when they bond a odium spren is that their cognitive element gets pushed out.
