  1. Sprens should know about the existence of fabricals. If they don't, then Cultivation certainly does. What I don't understand is if fabricals are an atrocity, then why doesn't she stop it? Is she in some sort of honor system or oath of neutrality or whatever? It's too early to tell, but unless there's new information that proves me wrong, I will consider every spren to be sentient. Take Syl for an example. Before she was bonded to Kaladin she was considered "stupid" too. She didn't have the logic of a child or even a long term memory. Now, if she were to remain stupid, would it be alright for someone else to come along and capture her? Would it be alright to use or even sacrifice her for our own sake? Remember, even Kaladin thought Syl was a common windspren until she told him what she really was. If Navani, or someone like her, found Syl, could anyone tell the difference between an honorspren or a windspren? Would they even care? It's very likely that they will use Syl regardless. After all, she may have some special properties that must be studied, even if the experiments will hurt or even destroy her. As we find out in the recently released chapters, sprens can die. Sprens are what they are. If they can completely abandon the human world for thousands of years, it's obvious that they don't care much for us. However, they will definitely care about their own kind. So I can see this become a very big deal later on. Anyhow, I hope this does spark a conflict between the humans and the sprens, perhaps even the new Knight Radiants and their own kind. It's one of the main themes of the Stormlight Archive, isn't it? Make everyone really pissed off at each other and then force them to work together. As long as Amaram dies in the end, I'm okay with that.
  2. Holy crud, I like this theory a lot. It's too early to tell if it's actually true or not, but gosh darn it, you deserve a cookie!
  3. Elhokar's secret is that... HE CAN READ!
  4. Amaram will recognize Kaladin. If nothing else, that slave brand on his head will stick out like a sore thumb.
  5. The Shin developed baldness as a natural deterrent. If they were ever threatened, they will all grow a goatee and go knocking on some doors.
  6. If we predict the future based entirely on Amaram's character alone, then what will traditionally happen will be a moment of "what have I done", followed by a road to redemption. However, Amaram is closely associated with people like Sadeas and Restares. He may try to do right thing initially, but I could easily see him fall all the way, become misguided and jealous and all filled with anger at the protagonists and take over as the antagonist after the main baddies are taken care of. He could be like Gollum, a tragic character who will serve as a cautionary tale about the steep, slippery road to hell and all that stuff about good intentions. He may even have one moment of clarity and somewhat redeem himself at the end. I'll be honest though. The latter is my preferred scenario. I don't want to like Amaram, I want to see him die.
  7. So essentially, Shallan will give Renarin her shard and in return he'll give her his D? It's not exactly the way how I would imagine the situation would play out, but hey, it could happen.
  8. I like this theory, if for no other reason than it perfectly fits in with my own crack theory that Hoid is just a creation of thought that was wished into existence by all the Whovians who currently inhabits the Cosmere.
  9. Shadesmar's your best bet. Personally, the idea of a soul storage appeals to me a lot more. Seems like anyone with a bit of stormlight can hack into Shadesmar at a drop of a hat, but souls are traditionally harder to crack. Also, in the latter situation, there is always the slightest chance that the shardblades will turn out to be sentient and can "bond" with a KR, thus become an OP bankai! Please don't downvote me! This will be my last anime reference, I swear!
  10. If this was GRRM, both Renarin and Shallan will be perfectly compatible with each other, almost seemingly destined to be so, with storylines that mirrors and compliments each other, but they will sleep around with other people and won't even meet for the first five books, only to potentially get together in the last one.
  11. As a species, sprens don't struck me as an entity who would care all that much about humans and their politics. Maybe honorsprens like Syl will have a problem with dishonorable usage of their powers, but I doubt other sprens would. Remember, Janash said that some of them were killed in the Great Betrayal. So whatever happened, it must have involved both parties. I find it a bit odd that both the sprens and human records specifically said that the Knight Radiant betrayed them. So I think this meant that either the Knight Radiant went behind everyone back and did something horrible or they became neutral and pissed both sides off. It's honestly too early to tell what happen. My best theory right now is that the Knight Radiant tried to kill Cultivation or whatever, but that's a bit flimsy and unbelievable. Honor's still alive at the point and he reflects on them fondly, so they couldn't have tried to do him in, right?
  12. I like Shallan's chapter the most, no question about it. It updated us on her progress since the last book, gave us some juicy information on the sprens themselves to mull over, and at the end, I smiled like a total idiot when she finally have her way and went into the waters to see the snathid. That art piece I found afterward in the Steelhunt gallery just pretty much seal the deal. Awesome character development here! In contrast, Kaladin and Janash were far less interesting. If this is how Shallan will be in the Words of Radiance, I think she'll take over as my favorite character.
  13. The only similarities between Jezrien and Dalinar is that they both have black hair and they both have beards. A lot of people are brunettes. It's not exactly Targaryen silver here. Also, I've always assumed that the Herlads took a huge fertility malus when they receive their roles, or maybe they all have the celibate trait or whatever to balance out their immortality and prevent them from creating an army of superbabies. Otherwise, their descendants could easily blob uncontrollably and take over the world!
  14. Indeed, but on the slight chance that this theory is right, then Dalinar has to explain to his brother why he's fooling around with his wife... although if Sadeas was in on it too, then this might further explain why he betrayed Dalinar in the Tower.
  15. In the newest Janash's chapter, she stated that some of the sprens were as clever as humans. If we use Syl for an example, she is really close to a human child, but if there were other sprens with more intellect that rivals or surpass our own, then I can definitely see them as the true enemy. The Parshendi? Rather than the true villains, they may just be another hapless victim in this war between Honor and Odium. I say this because Brandon Sanderson designated them as the enemy in the first book, and all but confirmed it with Shallan's revelation. Their entire civilization have been labelled as the Voidbringers, but if that were true, Sanderson blew his load way too quick. I smell a rat here. My crack theory is that they are meat-suits for Odium's sprens. Like robots with a very advance AI. If a virus corrupts their programs and take over completely, then they will be forced to fight even when they don't want to, as if possessed by a ghost. The possessed Parshendi can watch but won't be able to control their actions, their free will be stripped and their bodies used to fight in a way which they don't want happen. The only way to free themselves is death. Doubt anyone would be okay with a fate like that. That sounds evil enough for someone who calls himself Odium, and also set up a reason why the Parshendi have been mistaken for the enemy when they are Honor's side all along.
  16. When I read Janash's explanation, the first thing that came to mind was a warped version of Imaginationland. Anyone care to bet who'll be the next Butters?
  17. Looks nice. I wouldn't kick him out of bed, that's for... I mean. Great cover!
  18. I was somewhat surprised that there are so many people who support this pair so strongly. It felt a bit like a desperate shot at the dark to me, but while I made my rebuttal comment, I was almost convinced myself that Shallarin was inevitable. That was a weird moment, really. But in the end, I remain unconverted. Renarin and Shallan actually are very compatible with each other. They are both very clever people, negatively influenced by their family, and they both stuck me as wallflowers. It will be nice to see them come out fully from their shells and shine, maybe with each other. Since both Shallan and Renarin are both nobility from two respectable Houses, they are also a match for each other if they ever decide to tie to knot. But. They are so similiar in so many ways that if a relationship were to blossom between them, they will be no more than close friends. I feel that Shallan is the type to go for excitement rather than dedication. This is pretty common. I mean, she's what, fifteen in the book, but in spite of the other guys in her life, she fell pretty hard for twenty-something ardent who later turned out to be a member of a secret organization. It's only one example, but it's the start of a pattern. Because of how she lived her life and her father died, it's almost certain that she has a bit (or a lot) of a daddy-issue. So, rather than spending her time trying to coax a shy Renarin, I think she'll rather shoot for someone else, like Adolin or Kaladin. If she feels especially adventurous, maybe Elhokar himself. And yes, I know he's married. And about twenty years older than her. I really doubt this will happen, but I won't know for sure until the release of the next book. As for those who scorn the idea of Adolin and Shallan, I might remind you that opposites do attract in real life. There is a very fine line between hate and love, and all it takes to cross one with the other is a right moment.
  19. Eons past, Odium and Cultivation were indeed lovers. Then Odium cheated on Cultivation with Endowment, so she ditched him for his best friend, Honor. Odium insist that they were "on a break" and justified his brief but passionate affair. He then set out to ruin some lives because he felt slighted in this matter. This is all true. Spoilers, the Stormlight Archive will end with Odium falling madly in love with that new hunk around the block, Harmony, and starting together a family in San Francisco.
  20. Gosh, guys. We don't post here unless we got a new chapter or something.
