My understanding besides being bigger overall they look like a horse. In addition to their size they are sapient to some extent. Also check out the Coppermind. http://coppermind.net/wiki/Ryshadium

As I reread way of kings I noticed something about what Szeth says. The night before he starts killing all the kings he makes a comment about the moons. He comments that it is between moons and none of them are in the sky and he says none of the gods are watching. This got me thinking what if why Urithiru could not be build in Alethela, but was build closest to honor was because there were not any mountains tall enough there. Becuase honor based himself on one of the moons. Odium is able to affect Roshar from Blaze so no reason honor could not have set up on a moon. Szeth calling all of the moons gods could just be distortion of myth down through the years, but maybe one of the gods was on the moon in the past. This works well if you figure that the one order of Radients that did not disband fled to Shinovar and started stone shamanism.

Ya hair growth requires physical energy to function but the color change does not. It does sound like a similar ability. Lift is able to change physical energy directly into investiture. Were the royal family is able to change the color of their hair and its lenght . That is really just greater control of their bodies then everyone else. Although there is no reason to believe that endowment could not give that ability.

I have been contemplating how a game set on Roshar would work here is what i have thought of. Before i begin First this is just idle thought I'm not planing nor do I have that ability to make a game like this its just wishful thinking. With that said feel free to add or critic my ideas. Finally this will have spoilers for both Way of Kings and Words of Radiance, so if you have not read them please do not continue because I will not be placing any spoiler tags other than this. Spoilers ahead well some maybe First we will address scope. Every one wants a full world 1 to 1 scale world with destructible environments. This is not something that current tech is capable of so lets find what we can bring over into the game world and still have fun. Skyrim is a masterpiece of open world with hundreds of unique locations and quests. So if we limited the game to just the shattered plains and the war camps that leaves a lot of room for quests and locations, it even leaves option for crafting and trading. It is the single best location to start building from. next we have story and timeline So now we make a choice what kind of story can the game have. Because it is a game based in the world during an ongoing story you have to be careful, you don't want to mess with the story line of the books. Go to far into the past you become too limited the future is unusable as it limits the author or makes the two drift away from what is cannon. I feel that half the fun of playing a game set in the Cosmere would be the that you can get little hints of the worlds. Now the best location for the game would have to be after Gavilar's death but before Kaladin arrives on the plains in fact your best bet is about 2 years before Kaladin arrives on the plains. If I recall its been something like 6 years since Gavilar's death in the WoK. there are a couple of good reasons for this one it is after gavalar did the think that most likely brought surge binders back into the world and it provides easy and steady combat challenges(ie battles on the shattered plains, combat with bandits in the surrounding area) with the Alethi based around the plains. The war camps after a few years would start to become functioning towns as they are in the books. This allows for the option to maybe expand your characters personal holdings. but more on that later. If we had chose to place the game during the novels we run into time limitations and well destruction by the ever storm. Now that we have a time frame for the game we can work on the characters you can choose from. This is were I'm going to get a little side tracked because the there are 2 types of game that can be made. I have stated that I think skyrim is a great concept of what the open world is, but large open battles like Plateau assaults, its not real great at. However two games that do really well on them are war band and battlefield games. Warband is a better straight port if you just overlaid the world on the game than battlefield is. The reason I bring this up is that the battlefield games give you generic troops you can choose from (ie archer, spear man, etc) that makes it complicated with the Alethi class system. If you allow people to be a dark eyed soldier then the maximum rank they can achieve is limited even the maximum fame you can have is limited. On the other hand having everyone be a light eyes is workable does stretch the class system a little. So I choose characters are light eyes of extremely low rank just about as low as you can get. So now that is settled we can have each person pick a one of the many human variants available and for options place the start of the game near the end of your enlistment so if you wanted to you can leave the army and go freelance. The different types of people on Roshar would create an interesting variation in racial traits and looks. now we could even go so far as to allow for other starting points maybe even freed slave. Even just picking who your high prince is would provide for some interesting bonuses. That settled lets move on to surges and shards Surges and shards honestly having them be available for characters to have for them selves would break the game world if if played as an MMO. If more like skyrim and Less ESO then the surges and blades are back in. numbers is the key, ten people on a plateau assault with shards would devastate the enemies no longer making a it a challenge. Surges would have to preclude the use of shards and real limiting them is best. shards on the other hand provide some nice options. because there are so few available if you reached a high enough rank you might be able to duel using borrowed plate or even enter battle buy renting shards from someone for money. In fact I would say surges is on a different path that can not be followed if you stay a member of the army. One thing that is cool is the books already have a mechanic that allow for free events, the visions glimpses of the past, usage of surges and plate, free bits of non story breaking fun. If someone made this they could expand and add more areas and more classes for people to be. You could even choose to explore the chasms looking to salvage but beware the fiends. That is most of what I have so far please tell me your thoughts and sorry if I kind of ramble its starting to get a little late. Also one last thought if you commit crimes in the camps and get caught you can run into 3 possible fates if tracked down. 1 pay a fee. 2 if unable to pay fee sold to Sadeas and forced to run a bridge if you survive a relative pays for your release. 3 left out for the high storm. I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Sorry if its a little jumbled.

I would love one if there are any available still.

Ya my only problem is a bayonet is not truly a sword. What I see when I google hooked cross guard is bayonets. I'm not really in a hurry to find out so I will have more chances to find out. Mr. Sanderson is surprisingly spars on details of what that sword looks like.

I'm so sad. I really need to pay better attention to the forum I missed the ama. Well I guess there is always next time to ask about how many edges Nightblood has.

It may be that lifeless can only understand the native language of its original Awakener.

Squirrels don't know common so I don't think it is a factor. I believe it has a lot more to how you picture it not as much what you say. (see Lightsong and the squirrel) I feel that they are probably endowed with the ability to understand.

Draw Blood or Make Kabobs or Destroy Life or Shave Things Really just depends on what day it is.

Someone with a different native tongue could change it with ease once they new the command also I'm sure that synonyms would work for changing command phrases. Being that any language can use commands I'm sure it has more to do with what the command is and how it is pictured not the exact words.

Thank you that helps a lot. I'm going to start a reread of Warbreaker for any hints.

I was hoping that the fine members of this community might have more luck then I when looking for anything concrete on what night blood looks like exactly. I was thinking about it today and realized that my picture of it is a little indistinct. I know Nightblood is black and silver, with a silver cap on the tip of the sheath. I how ever can not remember if there is any reference in the book as to shape, length and, if it has a both sides sharpened or only one. Also is there any reference to a cross guard? Is there any markings on Nightblood? As for marking I believe It is always referred to as plain. Thank you for your help. EDIT: So based on what I have read again in Warbreaker I concluded the approximate size of Nightblade. While listening to the audio book I listened for any size references for both the sword and Vasher. Here is what I found so far. Vasher states the while holding the sword at his side in his hand the tip is almost touching the ground (I figure 1 to 4 inches off the ground) If vasher is about 6' in height and similar to me in arm length then the sword is around 53" (to 60")overall with a 42" blade All Returned are about 7' in height While talking to scoot Lightsong mentions that the railing made for a Returned is about 1' to high. So its a good bet Vasher is 5'9 to 6' Nightblade is always referred to as being a huge sword. Most likely made to be used by a Returned as that is who made it. Meaning anyone holding Nightblade it should feel just a little on the large side. So I figure about 2 1/2 hand hilt and around 1 3/4" front to back. During the guards recounting of Vashers' attack he states that Nightblade is straight and really long. Not like a dueling blade but like an eastern sword(not that direction helps on this planet). Things I still need are does Nightblades hooked cross guard have 1 hook or 2 hooks Does night blade have two edges

No i believe that plate would prevent any binding involving touch we only ever see the internal stuff. I think there is W oB that shard plate has to much investiture to effect with binding and would prevent the transfer of storm light into some thing.
-
Is there official WoB on that?

One thing to remember is that live shard blades were based on the honorblades so how the dead ones work is not necessarily like a default setting. It is more likely that Szeths blade does not take 10 heart beats. If you remember Shallan takes 10 heart beats because that is the time she thinks it takes to summon a blade, Pattern takes the time to tell her she does not have to wait I think. It maybe that if a person expects it to arrive after 10 heart beats it won't appear until then. Shard blades being so common the 10 heart beat thing could have changed how a person perceives the function of honor blades. I would bet that a herald can change the shape of their blade like a Radiant can. As for healing a blade cut I can't remember Kaladin does take a different wound from a dead blade at some point right? I can't remember. If not it is possible the type of wound a shard-blade and honor blade make is different in some small way. It could simply be that the amont need to heal that kind of wound is more that he can hold or maybe more that a borrowed honor-blade wielder can use at one time.

No I think the Return are unique to endowment's intent. As for what Vin did I thought she kill via feedback herself and Ati. I think that sazed even says at some point that he talked to Vin and Elend Observer beat me with a much nicer post one up to you.

I don't believe that the pool the Elantrians go to die is a shard pool it has none of the characteristics of the one shard pool we have seen. It is more likely to be some kind of entity created by devotion or maybe even the elantrians on account of the fact that it talks to the person in it. If it was a shard pool Raoden would have been able to draw it in considering how in tune with the Dor he is.

I did not remember that the larger spike retained its power better than a smaller one. How ever I don't think once it has been placed into a host that is continues to lose power even if removed and replaced at a later date.
-
Very well thought out theory my only objection is that I don't think honor would have plucked 10 returned from a different shard world instead of just creating something similar that would work exactly how he needed it to. It is easier to build a house the way you want it then to remodel a house to be the same way.

*Spoilers* Question about Shards and gender, shattering, and numbering.
Arook replied to snote's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Shades can pass through walls and any other object not made of silver, Identity plays no obvious role. Shades are closer to Spren then to storm light or mist. They are in theory beings of cognitive and spiritual realms trapped in the physical realm. The kind of gem stone the storm light is filtered through I believe has an effect on what you can change an object into. I think it has more to do with the fact that a stick my not inherently have any idea what fire is and needs a guide. I have always thought that was the idea behind the 10 essences. -
Also his spikes could have been anything, the size of the spike does not matter so if he had earrings they could have been spikes. The bracers were just his gold and atium spikes. size just makes it easier to kill things with.

Finally got to being a shard bearer now i'm property.

*Spoilers* Question about Shards and gender, shattering, and numbering.
Arook replied to snote's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I thought the 16 thing was supposed to be a sign from preservation to hint at what it was doing. I like the idea that it has to do with the order of the shards. The thing is the 10 parts thing is used for all 3 shards in the Roshar system. There are supposed to be something like 30 different magic powers (10 surges, 10 void and, 10 others).
