Thank you. They bleed???

I noticed something while reading a different topic. Don't death spren have red eyes and so do thunderclast as well? We have only 2 examples of the voidbringers in the WoK's and I have not read all of the readings for WoR but I do know of 1 in Dalinar's reading Here is the link. for those that wish to read it. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/3710-words-of-radiance-readings/ This got me thinking. So I reread that chapter and sure enough they do. Here is the descriptions in the books WoK First one is a brief description of a Thunderclast in the prelude described as having glowing red eyes (just wanted it small) Midnight essence which has no relevance. WoR Dalinar Reading I included the spren description too. My point is: what if Deathspren don't apprear to people dying like fear spren appear to people who are afraid? Voidbringers are so very weak right now that they only attack people that are dying. Side note anyone know what color blood the parshendi have? I can't remember.

What if he is building a device to harness all the powers and maybe trap or destroy Odium's shard. Also I don't think hoid could be Adonalsium, of course I don't know if the holder of a shard can survive its destruction. As for rebuilding adonalsium I also disagree more likely it would be for making a tool to create a champion against Odium. I have always felt that maybe Hoid didn't want all that power if I remember right he was there when Adonalsium was broken and the 16 took up its shards. Making it for someone else would make more sense and fit how we see Hoid work

I don't see any reason that he would want to destroy planets Odium is not like ruin. I think Roshar is more of an exception for odium taking any interest in men. I think he would need men if for nothing else to create hate.

Allomantically burning a Hemalurgic Spike
Arook replied to Chromium Compounder's topic in Cosmere Discussion
earrings would not be as effective you would cut them in half and the extra metal would fall to the ground. Gold compounder's are the only ones that put metal in their body. But we know the lord ruler was using the bracers for youth so they don't need to be completely in the body to be used. Also I thought they sold the bracers and the beads they had were what little they found in the palace. -
I was thinking what if voidbinding only works if there are surgebinders. On that thought what if the radiants figured this out and that is why they abandoned mankind. Leaving there shard blades and plate behind in case a desolation ever occurred again so people would have some protection. Please I would love to hear thoughts on this.

Allomantically burning a Hemalurgic Spike
Arook replied to Chromium Compounder's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Despite WoB facts in the book tell me a spike used as a spike can't be burned thought normal means other wise when Vin burns aluminum(I think that is the right metal) she would have burned her earring. Some kind of special effort would be needed to burn a spike. She also never feels the reserve of power like she does when consuming metals normally. How ever using them as a metal mind could change the property of them. Side note anyone know if it is possible to steal a Feruchemist ability with spikes. -
There were 2 shards on Sel so if each star is a shard that still matches up to what we know. Its not like Odium destroys the solar system when he does it.

Just a thought to add there are other smaller animal that have gem hearts too just not huge ones. Size matters a great deal for soul casting in that the bigger the gem the less likely it is to break. Also to cut a gem into smaller parts you would have a loss of material, there for less stormlight could be held. One thing to also factor in is are gem hearts flawless or do they need to be cut down to remove flaws before they can hold stormlight?

thanks I hadn't read that yet.

Szeth it an anomaly in general surgebinding without being bonded to a spren and the possibility that he has a honor blade makes him a hard example. As for early plans for kaladin that were not published, they shouldn't really have a bearing.
-
they may not be the source the fact that they bond with spren may make them easy tools. Remember there normal state is mindless.

I don't know i would jump straight to they don't care just that you could still be dark eyes and have authority and its only vorin nations that use light eyes as rule it is not that way on all of roshar. Oppression would have sprung up later. Myth implies that its not true and we don't know that. Had kalidan chose to take the sword and plate he would have been given power Amaram would not have taken the sword from him. it was only due to kalidans's rejection of the blade that Amaram took advantage of the situation. I think that there is truth to the belief that the eyes will change.

I would think forging would work anywhere on the planet unlike Aondor which elantris is used as a focal point for the power. With out knowing more about forging I would worry that if you did world hop you may not be able to return.
-
i always felt that it was a trait of the Radiant's having light eyes then people making the jump to radiant's = leaders of men = rulers of men and shard holders = light eyes shard holders = power power = rule light eyes = rule

Ok I guess I was wrong she described it as a long silvery sword not thin guess I miss heard. 123/1036 ebook

It was during one of her early flash backs she mentions it is a thin blade. i will look in my book later i noticed it while listening to the audio book.

Speculation on the Nature of Metallic Arts
Arook replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Cosmere Discussion
metal mind are invested because i believe vin try'ed to burn a metal mind at one point and could not access the invested part but can feel it there. It was defiantly what i would consider invested. Also i believe that koloss were humans with extra human investment from the spikes. -
legend has it that a dark eyed person picking up a shard blade becomes a light eye'd person. Szeth states that his blade only temporally changes his eye color is a unique feature of his blade. Side note his blade and shallan's blade are both described similarly. I'm curious to find out what make the permanent change occur and if it is the blade why szeth is does not.

Well hoid seemed to know were the people looking for him were. Its possible he had a normal courier travel and give it to them. I don't know that i totally agree with your hypothesis I don't think it was a physical tool. too much of what we know contradicts that. your hypothesis stats that Adonalsium was a tool to access power but what we know of sel tells us that each shard is the power and the controller of the power. when the shards on sel were shattered the power is loose if the shard were just the focus of the power then the power would not be running rampant around sel. I think believe that the power of a shard is local to the shard. If the shard were to move to a different planet a lot of the magics would stop working. like if endowment were to leave i think people wold stop returning and maybe people would stop getting breaths a birth.but that would only be in endowment total remove its self from the planet. i would be interesting if hoid was trying to make a tool to use all the different shards to create a Adonalsium replacement. like trying to create a super invested object.

I'm a little confused by this because a tinder box would be a new fire and that would make them mad. Also all things that exist in the physical have a cognitive side changing one changes the other. So a change in the physical could create a change in the cognitive that the shades are responding to. Granted we don't know what the shades focus on so it could be any number of reasons. The air ripple was just supposed to be an example. I may not have made that clear, sorry.

maybe she didn't need a body only something to identified it as him that was dead and I mean he did go missing and had been turning in he bounty's for years. so the story would have been passable.

Slaughtering of animals It is possible that they have a room that would be protected from open air to keep the shades from anger. But with a broken window a cut could drive them to attack. She did state that exposure to the air of blood drawn from an individual, the use of tar sacks to prevent that means its not completely the act of drawing it enrages them. Almost like sharks with blood in the water. it could be that if the intention of the action was to harm then it will enrage the shades. Unlike say a nose bleed which is simply a leak. i could be tied to the how the blood cognitively feels it is and then the shades when entering the same space as the blood communicate with it and become enraged. Once blood congeals it would change what it felt it was. Also the Theopolis was unconcerned about drawing blood in the way stop so I think the silver would have protected them. Her concern could have been over the cost of replacing any silver damaged due to the drawn blood or to any possible future blood loss on he impending hunt that night. Also Chesterton used silver powder to allow him to slaughter Sebruki's family I would guess that after and hour or two the shades give up and disperse. Fire and Movement As we move we create a ripple effect with the air around us what if to great a ripple makes them angry fire springing to life would create a ripple as would walking fast or running. She says that if you move at a steady place what I imagined as a saunter they move away from you. It could be that small disturbances repulse them and so they avoid them and anything too great they try to destroy it.

Theory: Shards Can't Alter Their Magic Systems
Arook replied to Moogle's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I did not know that thank you
