  1. Shai noticed people equating MaiPon and Jindonese culture, which insulted her, but also indicates sufficient distance between the regions that the Grands don't pay much attention to the differences.
  2. Here are some questions that seem less-than-obvious to me: What is the Dor? Why doesn't distance affect the Dakhor Monks? How does the Shaod pick? Could an Elantrian Forge? Would an Elantrian in MaiPon (or anywhere else far away from Elantris) still have accelerated healing, etc.? What is the blue pool? Why do Seons go insane through the Shaod? What are Seons? What magical effect do the Jesker Mysteries have? What caused the Chasm? What did the Moon Scepter do?
  3. "OH GOD THE SPIDERS WILL BE EVERYWHERE!"
  4. My question is, is Hoid giving an example of something that exists that is analogous to this (the Dysian Aimians) or is he giving an example of something that would exist if you did this to an Aimian, but doesn't actually exist? In the first case, it suggests that the Dysian Aimians were transformed somehow by an external entity (or by themselves) from human (do that to a man) stock. Either way, the conversation smells heavily of
  5. Contact lenses are going to be a big thing in alethia
  6. And Forging IS a lot more subtle than, say, Aons. Though I got the impression that Teod was fairly close to Elantris, is terms of distance. I also got the impression that MaiPon was quite far away.
  7. If everybody's under the bridge, then you would probably be the safest men in the army if you were doing both at once.
  8. I wonder if the sickness caused by the alloys is connected to the specific metal - i.e a bad tin would give you omnisensual hallucinations, a bad pewter would make you alternately weak and strong in specific parts of your body, a bad iron would make ironsight flicker and anything you try to pull drop a few inches occasionally, etc.
  9. Improperly mixed alloys, corrupted metals, etc. Vin is able to burn these, apparently, but she only suggests it, and we don't see the effects.
  10. Wielding her Radiant Blade, huh? Hmmm... sp935, welcome and thank you for that most excellent observation.
  11. I postulate that they affect people by the same mechanism that the
  12. If by meta-biology, one means sgenetics, then yes. I hesitate to put words into Darnam's mouth but yes. It's a perfectly reasonable magical effect caused by a high species wide Innate Investure, or perhaps something more specific
  13. Does a chull poop on the rocks? Edit: Downplayed profanity. I'm tired.
  14. Read "Misery" by Stephen King
  15. How come Shai never notices this? Is she just so good and so subtle that even far away from her homeland, she can Forge things perfectly?
  16. Glib Heist... That sounds like an adept description of Hoid's role during the events of TES Also, gibletish turned up "blighties" for me - and, while it may be a stretch, without the "b" that spells "lighties" which can also be read as "lighteyes" And my personal favourite anagram of "gibletish" (please excuse profanity): ~ Le Big S**t ~
  17. There has been some speculation that a KR can "extract" a Shardblade from their Nahel Bond, giving them a very personally attuned blade - perhaps they must say a certain number of the Ideals first, or maybe just have a good relationship with their spren. Anyway, it's possible that Syl's blade here is the "protoKRblade", that is, a sort of seed, currently held by Syl, that can grow into the full Shardblade. Edit: I openly admit that the name I came up with is terrible. Please suggest a catchier title
  18. Hmm. So what about bad alloys?
  19. I just want my magitech robots, but those are probably gonna have to wait a couple trilogies
  20. So, bad metals can make you feel sick if you're a mistborn and presumably a misting. Could these metals be crafted especially to function as hallucinogenic drugs, making you see things and doing weird things to your mental state? Basically, are recreational drugs in Scadrial flasks of dodgy tin?
  21. In the series, it's implied that a Mistborn can burn any metal, if they don't mind becoming violently sick/dying. So what about Mistings? When they try to burn an Allomantically active metal other than their own, what happens? My ideas: 1) It just burns away with no effect, similar to Vin's first Duralumin burn, before she burnt another metal 2) Nothing. Mistings can't even try to use other metals than their own - although intuitively, I get the feeling that they should still be able to burn bad alloys of their own metals. 3) Violent sickness. Death. Fever. Hallucination. Mental fatigue and hypothermia. Diarrhea. Cancer. Sneezing.
  22. Lead is poisonous - gold is not. If you Forged gold bars being shaved to apply gold flake to some rich bad guy's supper to have been adulterated with lead, then he would gradually die. It would be much easier to just make the switch - unless you didn't have the resources to get enough gold that it would still be convincing after being adulterated with lead. Or, you know, just poison the food itself.
