  1. You're missing Danex. Which is even better, puts us at 7-1 or 6-2. I'll also point out that Archer and Danex have both survived a kill (you have as well). That's worth considering given that Sart didn't have an extra life.
  2. Hmm, not all the elims have an extra life. Also, Sart could have self-preservation voted (on Mage, or on Archer/myself for a 3-way tie), but didn't. I'm still busy, so I'll decide what that means later.
  3. Oh yeah, I should mention that my activity will be spotty on MWF this week, for entirely unrelated reasons each day.
  4. Yeah, we really need an ISO feature, that would boost the quality of life around here by a lot. I wonder how hard something like that would be to implement, and if it would be useful on other parts of the forum. I gave a reason, which was two-fold: I was opposing the vote on Archer (largely for meta reasons at that point), and I was making a guess at what elim!Illwei might have done under those circumstances. I'll leave other folks to critique the logic leveled against them. If we hadn't already had a couple of very successful games together as elims, I'd say that our interactions don't really fit with us being elims together. It's too blatant. But, based on those games, I bet we could pull it off .
  5. You forget LG 20 (but I am assuming here that your village skills translate well into elim-that-can-talk-like-a-villager skills).
  6. Yeah, sorry. That was vague and not what I was actually trying to get across. I meant that as more of a "I don't have a good feel for Kas's reads (and the suspicions in particular) overall" than a "Kas hasn't given clear reads". Maybe you're right that I'm waffling, but that's partly because you are at the bottom of the player list and I didn't entirely feel like reading all of your content again (I'll do you first next time). I'm also honestly just unsure because we don't have any flips. You and me and Archer can all talk a good talk regardless of which team we are on, and I wanted to make it clear that I'm holding you at arm's length. You all need to vote for more sensible players then I've made my thoughts on vote manip clear. And I'm doing exactly what Village Araris did in LG73 and the LG where Mat tried to set Village Araris up: if I see no particular reason to jump in on a wagon that I'm fine with and is proceeding fine without my help, I'd much rather go for and try to pressure people I want to hear from. I prefer keeping suspicions broad than having the conversation narrow on a few players. This was not supposed to be an accusation, it was just something I noticed and felt like throwing in there, partly because it's the opposite of what I noticed that I tend to do: follow players with a second vote to double-down on the pressure, with the downside that I'm giving up my influence on who is a candidate for votes in the first place. I had this thought during D1, and it was part of my push for votes on Illwei. I just now realized that Szeth is voting for me, because the original vote in that post was for Illwei, which confused me. I don't really have a response to anything Archer posted (and I don't think he was looking for one), but as to this: I am currently voting on Sart, in part because you seemed to indicate that you would be willing to vote on him, although your comment was directed towards Szeth.
  7. Okay, let's run through the player list. 1. Illwei. Was attacked by elims (or possibly by Mage or Sart, who very well could be elims anyway), tied Archer with Sart last cycle. My current thought is to hold off on voting for her until we get confirmation from Mage/Sart, but also wait for at least one flip so we can reason out the chances of a WGG more. 2. Tani. No vote during the first cycle, then the second vote on Danex this turn. @Ookla of Anarchy and Chaos, can you explain again your reason for voting Danex? Based on this quote: it seems like you think the elims attacked Danex. However, Archer claimed to have attacked Danex in his first post, so are you referring to Illwei here? You mention 3 players, which I assume refers to my list of you, Danex, and Mage. So it seems like you should be voting for Archer if you think the elims attacked Danex. You also didn't respond to my request to comment on the other players: Archer, Sart, Illwei, Szeth, and Kas, who I forgot to put in the first list. 3. Danex. Placed the 4th vote on Archer with no reasoning given. No longer has an extra life, was allegedly attacked by Archer. Almost no way Danex and Archer are e/e. Probably the best person to vote out this turn if we want a flip. 4. Szeth. Placed the first vote on Archer, and has been doing a Matrim level tunnel ever since. @Ookla the Confused, I think you should back off on Archer unless Mage or Sart claims to have attacked Illwei. Otherwise the only reasonable scenario is that Archer did use a one-shot kill (or some bonus elim kill) on Danex. But I'm not entirely sure that elim!Archer would claim to have used the attack in that event anyways. If you are going to continue to vote for Archer, please give an explanation for the following facts and assumptions: There were 2 attacks last night Archer claimed one of the attacks Nobody has stepped forth to claim the other attack Presumably a villager that used a NK would check the thread the next day to see the results of their action (meaning Mage/Sart probably didn't attack Danex or Illwei) Presumably a villager that attacked Danex would counterclaim Archer Presumably an elim would not claim to have attacked someone (more so if they didn't actually attack said person) Anyways, I agree with Archer's read of you; the tunnel looks village, but if you keep sticking to it while ignoring evidence to the contrary, you are probably elim. 5. Mage. Nothing here. Maybe an okay option if something comes up and we need to last-minute swing a vote train onto someone else. 6. Sart. Was the first target of the vote D1 (Kas, myself, and Archer), and has since fallen off the radar (except Archer is willing to revisit the vote on him). Voted on Archer for self-preservation, then switched onto Mage, around the same time I switched to Illwei. Haven't heard anything from them this cycle, but during the night they put Archer as a minor trust and Danex as a suspicion(?). I'd be fine voting Sart this cycle. 7. Archer. Placed the 3rd vote on Sart, then joined me on Illwei toward cycle end. Didn't claim to have an extra life. Has an undisputed claim of having attacked Danex. Voted for Danex right away this cycle. The combination of the attack and immediate vote strikes me as village. I also agree both with his vote on Danex and his willingness to vote Sart. He did say some things D1 that I don't agree with, so he's still at the back of my mind. 8. Kas. Oh boy. Placed the first vote on Sart, then switched to Danex. Voting on Tani this cycle. Kas has said a lot of sensible things this game, but hasn't really made much of a splash. All of his votes have been the first vote that player, and two have been the only vote. I'd vote on Kas this cycle, but he's probably the lowest on my list of people I'd consider voting for. @Kasimir, could you do some sort of consolidated reads post (not necessarily with justifications)? I'm having a hard time feeling out where you stand on a lot of things. In summary, I'd vote for Sart, Danex, Tani, Mage, or Kas, in that order. Which is most everyone, but without a flip, that's the best I can do.
  8. Okay, so if we assume everyone has an extra life, and we want to get an alignment flip today, we can only vote for Illwei, Archer, and Danex. Also, I think we only have 2 viable scenarios with Archer (unless someone claims the kill on Illwei as well). Either he is village and sent in the kill on Danex, or he is elim, and the elim team decided to attack Danex and Illwei each once. The latter scenario only makes sense if we are willing to make some assumptions about the elim team, so for now I lean village on Archer. Have you considered what I’ve mentioned above? Just curious, because I do think an argument can be made to vote Archer this turn, but I’d like to know how you explain the attacks making sense if Archer is elim. Isn’t this a bit... hypocritical? Also, could you give your thoughts on some of the other players? Archer, Sart, Illwei, and Szeth in particular. I mentioned during the night that I didn’t want to start off discussion by voting for you, Danex, or Mage, and while the attack on Danex changes that a bit, I think the point still stands that there are other people who have done/said more things worth analyzing. I need to decide how important getting a flip this cycle will be. We could vote for someone that presumably has an extra life, and then NK them as a follow-up. Of the people that have lost a life, current Danex is the most suspicious to me, and I don’t really see myself voting for Archer or Illwei this cycle.
  9. I think Kas might have said something to this effect also, and while I didn't say anything in particular, I considered voting for Danex last cycle for that reason. For now, I'll repeat my request for a Coinshot or the like to go after one of Danex/Mage/Tani. I don't think any of those three is a good place to start the discussion of who to vote out next. Of the remaining non-Szeth people, I'd order them Illwei/Archer/Kas/Sart in decreasing order of willingness to vote for them. Kas and Sart are kinda equal though. If one of the inactives is elim, then finding a teammate could help with that, due to the votes on Mage during the day.
  10. Welcome to SE! You don't really need to know about the flavor of the current game, although it can be helpful for RPing. We also tend to spoil lots of things, as a minor warning. It's like mafia, but with a bit more reasoning and discussion than the in-person version. As to the last, this game will likely go for 4-5 days, so I'd say if you can commit to being active for 4 out of the 5 potential days (although being active the whole game is clearly the best result), then sign up. Otherwise, I'd wait, since inactive players can mess up game balance by quite a bit, especially with a low player count to begin with.
  11. I don't think you were being a jerk. You were just joking, right?
  12. Um, do you actually think that (prior to seeing the flip)? Because you are both currently voting for Archer, and seemed slightly willing to vote Illwei earlier. I'm currently trying to make my vote not pointless without moving it. Which is honestly not something I've tried a lot before on D1.
  13. Your argument is because of a change in playstyle and a change in tone. You accuse him of deflecting instead of defending, but there isn’t really anything concrete to defend against, except the playsytyle which he already justified. And I don’t think that jokingly pointing out logical inconsistencies in the stances of your accusers counts as being a jerk. That feels like the Archer we all know and want to murder each night. Edit: You also never really addressed Archer’s point that he made in the joke, or not in a way that I understand at least.
  14. Hmm. I both dislike your reasoning and in principle am opposed to killing Archer because of a perceived change in playstyle. I also feel like you are doing an excellent job of channeling the power of our illustrious GM to relentlessly tunnel on innocents while being village yourself .
  15. I don’t really like her reasoning for voting Archer, and I think elim!Illwei would definitely take a chance to vote out v!Archer. I didn't have any read on Sart, and I have a slightly positive read of Archer. I do realize my vote is currently kinda useless, so let’s see if I can fix that. @Ookla the Paranormal, Sart has pulled off of you, interested in an Illwei vote? Mostly because I’d prefer to vote out someone that has been talking. The elims will have Tani as a no-info kill regardless of whether we vote out Mage. Doesn't look like Kas or Sart will join me here, but maybe @Ookla the Confused or @ookla the quantificational will consider switching? Danex isn’t really much better of an option than Mage, but I would consider joining a vote on him as well. Might at least give us an idea about Sart’s and Archer’s alignments.
  16. I'm sort of confused about what Confused is saying about Archer's tone. It feels pretty normal to me. The content is different, but it feels like normal Archer. And the thing that makes me a little suspicious of Archer is what I mentioned in my previous post. I think I disagree with the justification for most of the votes on Archer (Sart's is the exception, of course), which makes me not want to joint that train. I was waiting for the thread to move past the Sart train (or at least for another option to open up) before I did anything with my vote, with which I was trying to do the same thing as you; gauge reactions to an early double-vote. The general reaction is clearly to vote on you, which I would have done, except you picked up several votes rather quickly. 1. Kas votes Sart 2. Araris votes Sart 3. Archer votes Sart 4. Szeth votes Archer 5. Sart votes Archer 6. Illwei votes Archer 7. Danex votes Archer I guess I have a village read on Szeth for sticking to his guns with the Archer vote. e!Szeth probably wouldn't vote e!Archer, and e!Szeth might have taken the opportunity to back off of v!Archer to gain some credibility on a village flip. Sart's vote is sensible, although not very helpful. Illwei and Archer are probably not e/e, although there could be some weird gambit going on here, since Archer has already mentioned the triple vote thing as a way to defend a teammate. I also think e!Illwei would jump on a chance to vote out v!Archer. I think Danex would probably place that vote with either alignment, but it would still be nice to hear more from them. I'm going to switch to Illwei for now. If nothing changes by cycle end, I'll vote for Sart over Archer, I think. Mostly because I am sympathetic to Archer's attempt to play more casually, and because of the fact that other members of our community have found that frustrating in the past.
  17. I definitely agree with you about the vote being a way to potentially help Sart (although it's also risky, since attention can be deadly D1), but I'm not sure what sort of reactions you would expect from Kas and myself, or why they'd be alignment indicative. You should know that the pair of us can be fairly stubborn, and that you'd be unlikely to get a strong response from either of us. I don't like you singling me out for no reason, and am tempted to vote on you, but I still have reasons to leave my vote where it is. @ookla the quantificational, what are your thoughts on Archer's vote on Sart, and then his comment (which I quoted above)? It would also be nice if @Mage and @Ookla of Anarchy and Chaos could comment on this, at least partly as a way to get you guys involved in the conversation. This game will likely be 3-4 cycles long, so we can't afford a lack of participation early on. I doubt there are any kill roles this game, but if there are, I'll echo my call from the last game to target any players that aren't voting/participating in discussion.
  18. I got you. The tags don't work if they are bolded. Um, wouldn't Szeth and Illwei have rather different vibes regardless? I'm not sure that anyone can vibe the same as Illwei, to be honest.
  19. Hadrian gazed sadly from his window in Keep Penrod. There had apparently been some sort of mix-up with his invitations, because nobody was showing up to take advantage of his hospitality. Which put a bit of a stop to his plan to gain prestige by saving the allomancers of the city. Two of the people that had refused his invitations were doubly suspicious, for Hadrian had been unable to determine their names. Anyone so clandestine as to show up in Luthadel without making their identity public must obviously be a Feruchemist trying to hide their Terris origins. It didn't take a smart guy to pick up on that, but it was worth sticking with for now. Sart
  20. Thanks! I was able to find the other missing ones in docs, so now I know the cause of all my non-vote deaths! There is now an official Araris Kill Club, and nobody has killed me more than twice so far (not sure if I should be surprised about that or not). Wow, I didn't realize you'd been evil so many times. And I thought the RNG had it out for me lately. I suppose the Gods of Luck and Chance must be subordinate to the Gods of Really Large Numbers .
  21. We like to strike a balance between enough content that @Kasimir can't chill, but everyone else is able to participate.
  22. Word of a feud between Allomancers and Feruchemists was spreading throughout the city. Hadrian wasn't quite sure how, given that the Terris people were rather passive, and that there were only rumors of a couple in Luthadel itself. Nonetheless, the conflict presented an excellent opportunity for a noble house on the rise. A short time later, Hadrian put the finishing touches on the last of several invitations: Dear Illustrious Allomancer, I'm sure you have heard that Feruchemists have contested the known fact that Allomancy is the superior Metallic Art. What you may not know is that the conflict appears to be escalating, and several notable Allomancers have been found dead. The Penrods assure you that our lineage extends back to the first Mistborn, and that it is firmly aligned with the interests of Allomancy. To this end, House Penrod extends the safety of its keep to you for the duration of the threat, along with the use of the Penrod ballroom for discussion and refreshment. Sincerely, Lord Hadrian Penrod I'll be signing up as the man himself.
  23. This summer I embarked to a project to log all of my SE games, since I was coming up on 100 games. Now, 4+ months later, my personal spreadsheet is done! I had a blast going back and rereading (or at least skimming) all of these games, and would highly recommend players to go back and reread their own older games, and some of the more iconic games that they might not have played in. I was kind of amazed at how many wildly different (and quite often broken) rulesets we have played with, and was somewhat inspired to try and think up my own overly complicated ruleset. Now that I've started GMing, who knows? I made notes of many of my favorite moments in the spreadsheet, and I found a couple of my own quotes regarding the meta that are worth remembering: From AG 6: From LG 68, in a PM with Kas: And this isn't a quote, but starting with LG 50, I explicitly ignored all the inactive players when doing my analysis, and this was where I first felt like I really was playing well as a villager. In terms of the actual numbers, I'm not sure that the percentages mean a whole lot, given the number of imbalanced games involved. But if they are significant, I'm clearly total garbage at MRs, and happy with where I fall on the other types of games. I'm currently in the middle of my longest losing streak , which is about to catch up to my longest evil streak. And @Quintessential destroyed what could have been an 11 game survival streak, with a C1 kill no less . We also need to run a QF faction game, a QF with neutral roles, and a free-for-all MR so that I can get rid of the divide by 0 errors . And I have some associated RP I started that I'll post underneath here whenever I get around to writing it. Possibly accompanied by a ruleset.
