Heirs to the Final Empire: Roleplaying Thread
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Inactive RPs
Hadrian was delighted! There were loads of things he could do with letters bearing the official seal of House Urbain. With a little heat to melt the wax and a quick exchange of the contents, nobody would be the wiser. He headed back to Keep Urbain to draft a ... cleaner invitation. After a half hour with himself and Royce at work, Hadrian scanned over the new invitations. My fellow Lords, I am hosting what will obviously be the social event of the century. Bring your best wines so that my vintage will stand out even brighter as the true masterpiece of our era. Join with me to celebrate the Rule of the Lord Ruler and our Nobleness! My trusted partner Lord Hadrian has offered to host the event at the new Imperial Archive, where we can read all about the grand undertakings he has for the new order. Any drinks from House Urbain will, of course, be free* of charge, so come party to your heart's content! Also, anyone that comes in purple and orange will get to sample a secret beverage none but myself have tasted so far. The Lord Gamic Urbain "Go deliver these to their respective houses, Royce, them finish by bringing one here. The Archive is the perfect place for a party!" I hope you don't mind my getting involved with your party. It will probably be cheaper for you now anyway, and you deserve it for giving me your invitations.- 868 replies

Heirs to the Final Empire: Roleplaying Thread
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Inactive RPs
Hmm... If allomancers can affect objects over long distances, perhaps we could make a faster method of communication. The lucky few that had been blessed with the powers of allomancy seemed mostly interested in its military implications; jumping across the misty night sky and spraying bits of metal every which-way. The problem was most likely in the frame of mind of the nobility. They all saw themselves as above carrying out manual labor, and would be reluctant to dedicate their lives to a public service. Well, Hadrian would make sure the members of his house did no such thing. He wandered to the garden that capped the roof of Keep Penrod. He had always loved potatoes, and was glad that the wholesome tubers had not been changed by the Lord Ruler's... adjustments to the world. Whatever befell the world, until his death Hadrian would be eating potatoes grown at his own dwelling. Maybe the other Lords just needed to be reminded of where they really came from. He gathered a couple servants to help carry some baskets and dug up several potatoes for each lord. The first Keep that Hadrian visited was Urbain. Lord Urbain was one of the few members of the new nobility that Hadrian actually admired. Rather than buying canals or hiring troops, the Urbains had begun the production of high quality party goods. Such a man would be necessary if the Lords were to work together. He knocked at the gate to the keep, and hoped to the Lord Ruler that his conversation wouldn't be too awkward.- 868 replies

Heirs to the Final Empire: Roleplaying Thread
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Inactive RPs
@Adamir: Don't all of those people end up getting killed in some unfortunate manner? That might explain why. Hadrian pondered the information Royce had passed on to him. It seemed that most of the houses were really intent on having children, which was good, but it made them rusting hard to form deals with. He quickly decided that the best way to get people to follow you was to be a leader. "Royce, go post an announcement on each of the other keeps, inviting their lords to visit my new Archive and to consider purchasing my high quality parchment and lumber. I am open to getting pretty much anything in return. House Penrod has almost exclusive power to control how history is written, so any Lord that ignores us might find future generations dismissing their houses as useless. Alari watched Royce depart from the keep, laden with several bundles of paper. My husband works that man far too hard. Hadrian was a wonderful husband a quite good at running a house, but sometimes he got a bit lost in his dreams of leaving a lasting legacy and ignored pressing matters at hand. Their new son, Arandar, for instance, had been left to his own devices. It seemed he had a predisposition for Allomancy, although neither Alari or her husband knew how, since the powers were supposedly genetic. Perhaps it had to do with the Deepness. Perhaps the most urgent issue asides from her son was the skaa. They would cause problems in the future, if not watched carefully. What she was considering doing could explode in her face, but it just might give her house the edge it needed over the others. She scribbled a quick note for Royce to fetch some materials from the new Imperial Archive and then set off to find some tutors.- 868 replies

Heirs to the Final Empire: Roleplaying Thread
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Inactive RPs
Hadrian was tired. His dreams had been full of death and pirates for the last several days, likely a remnant of the stories about Fadrex City. Well, at least his wife, who the Lord Ruler had allowed to join him after moving to Luthadel, was a compassionate woman and a stalwart Lady. After their last several nights, hopefully House Penrod would be able to leave a lasting legacy. Action 1 What: Trying for an Heir When: First action Who: Hadrian and Alari Penrod Where: Keep Penrod- 868 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Araris Valerian replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I didn't make the connection between Seonid being the warrior and making that post (regardless, clarification is always helpful, and if Seonid knew something but forgot to say it then that would have been helpful). When I see something like that I tend to forget who is cleared, and I don't keep a list of something like that, since people are usually pretty quick to point it out to me (which, I know, is not the best idea). Clanky. I'm retracting my vote because, despite what you indicate I have said, a large part of my suspicion of you is that, following suspicious activity you disappeared off the map, so to speak. But I think your arguments against me are a bit flawed. For one, whether or not the people I suspect are guilty isn't that big of a deal. As I see it, it is important for players in this game to make clear statements of where they stand, such as your vote on me. Everyone can tell that you suspect me, which is good information for the group regardless of if I am actually a cultist. That is why I listed a few people I suspected. That being said, we lynched Jain, so my suspicions there, based on him being either Gyorn or cultist from Kas and Wyrm's arguments, were justified. Clanky, due to Wilson, is still up for being lynched, just to point that out. I'll try and put down another vote later today, but I'll have to see how busy I end up being.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Araris Valerian replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, I support a lynch of Clanky. Seonid, I'm not sure if you have expressed suspicion for voting for Clanky before, but could you post why you are voting for him, in your own words? Because it is fairly early in the cycle to lock down on somebody like we are, even though only 5 people have voted, Clanky has 7 votes on him.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Araris Valerian replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I wouldn't really say that it is tunnel vision, just that a lot of the discussion is happening between players confirmed by Meta, so it is hard to find new suspicions. And if you look to my original post, I have suspicions of both Jain and Haelbarde as well, but Clanky wanted a response to his post it seems, and we now know that Jain is the Gyorn. Without going back through the whole thread again, which I won't be able to do until tonight, I just don't have too much more to say for my own personal suspicions.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Araris Valerian replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, Clanky, there is a point where there isn't really that much to go on for lynches, and I recognize your response to my posts about you. I really don't have much more to go on other than that. I mean, several of the players that are left that haven't been cleared are inactive far more than me or you. So it is really hard to get a read on them. Meta is all in favor of taking down the inactives, from how I understand him. We are probably at a point where we could take out several of them and learn a decent amount if they decide to start speaking up in response. But we already have a clear cut lynch today, so there isn't much point in talking about which inactive to take down since they won't need to address that for another 96 hours or so. Part of that vote wasn't even to draw you out so much as to let the active players know where I stand so that if I get lynched it is less for my level of activity and more because I actually said something suspicious or unfounded. So I guess that the thing that would change my mind is more activity from you rather than a better explanation, which I know is a bit hypocritical. I spent less than 15 minutes writing this, so while I didn't really need to go back to the thread to post this, it does show that detailed explanations of behavior aren't too time consuming to produce.- 1221 replies

The two aren't mutually exclusive. Brass allomancy and chromium feruchemy I think would fit that. And Wax clearly has enough Terris blood in his family lines for ferrings.

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Araris Valerian replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, I thought I would bring a couple other people to the discussion. So last cycle, I voted for Jain after dismissing Clanky and Hael. I was pretty focused on what was going on in that particular lynch so I only checked the first two lynch discussions for their names being brought up, and there inactivity was explained and dismissed at that point. So I guess what I am saying is that I am still suspicious of Clanky because he was involved in the Mailliw lynch with basically no reasoning but before the lynch was sealed completely, so it wasn't really a vote for just tagging along, as I see it. As for Hael, who is the other person I brought up, I do think he has done a better job of participating (better than me recently), but I still find it interesting that he was worried about not being suspect by anyone, and that he recognized that his posts had little substance but kept doig it for a while anyway. My current top suspects are: 1) Clanky 2) Jain 3) Hael And I apologize about the post I made last cycle; it really should have looked a bit more like this one plus my analysis of Jain, who I still suspect because we don't really have any new info on him from last cycle.- 1221 replies

Well, what exactly about philosophy appeals to you, Kas? I tend to be a "so what can it do" kind of person, so philosophy, while definitely interesting, isn't something I would devote years of my life to studying. But I have friends that are following that path and they are fun people to have discussions with. Also, for Wyrm, have you played Eclipse: New Dawn for the Galaxy? And what would you say is your favorite board game? Lastly, what are each of your favorite SE characters that you have created?

Bother. It seemed that the Lord Ruler has frozen all assets in Luthadel for several days. Word was, he was off dealing with some rebel group off in the middle of nowhere, but you would at least think that he would allow business to proceed as usual. Hadrian began penning a missive to him in person. Most glorified Rashek, I hope that all of your endeavors have been proceeding smoothly and that the market will be able to proceed as usual within a short period of time. Is there a particular way you wish me to record the unexpected events of the last couple days in my next book? Your Servant and Historian, Hadrian Penrod Go kill those Internet rebels Wyrm! Best of luck getting everything back to normal with your internet, although I guess you won't see this until you have access again.- 868 replies

Well, in the interests of personal survival, I would like to be scanned, but Jain is a good choice as well. There might be something to be said for you deciding on your own between a couple people so that the cultists or the Gyorn can't for certain hit somebody that you just confirmed, although that doesn't seem like a super likely scenario.- 1221 replies

Heirs to the Final Empire: Roleplaying Thread
Araris Valerian replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Inactive RPs
Hadrian scowled down upon the graffiti that now disfigured his wonderful gray wall. At least everything is already stained so much that it doesn't show too badly. It would be best for everyone once his house could start distributing writing materials to the other houses. However, house Urbain did have access to a large amount of textiles... They were probably too cheap to put out decent invitations even if they did have the proper resources. The ball would likely be lackluster compared to the one House Elarial was holding, but a ball was a ball, so Hadrian resigned himself to a second night of pointless chatter and excessively fancy food. Hadrian just didn't understand why Balls of all things had to be the major political events in the city. Dances should be for, well, dancing. And meals should be for eating. "Royce! If it ever comes time to hold some such boring social event at our keep, it will be called a 'Council of Lords,' none of this ball nonsense. And don't serve a full meal. Just some snacks so that people focus on the real reason for hanging around and burning through our boxings." "Certainly mi'lord. I will makes sure every knows that when they visit our keep, the event will be No Fun."- 868 replies

*sigh* Last time Wilson said I was an eliminator things ended badly for me . I'm not quite sure where I went wrong. If there is something I missed in my last post, please point it out to me because the thread is over 50 pages long, and I don't really have the motivation to read through the whole thing every time I make a post. I guess I am a decent target for the lynch, since I have only been putting in a couple posts each cycle, and I haven't been converted or anything. But it would be nice to know, before I perish (which I hope doesn't happen), what exactly people are flagging me for, so I can fix a few things come next game.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Araris Valerian replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ok, well, here is my post. So it looks like Clanky had/has IRL reasons for being somewhat inactive, which is the main thing he was called out for. I did note that Bort called him out once, but by itself that doesn't really say much. Also, Hael was just a bit slow with discussion early on and has been much more involved recently. I find how violently Jain has been responding a bit suspicious. There are a couple reasons I can think of for this. First of all, I have known several people that would respond to false accusations in a similar way. So it is possible that Jain is like that, but I don't think that is the real reason since I don't think he has ever given that sort of response in any other games. Another possibility is that Jain is a Cultist that is upset about being accused of being Gyorn. I would be Really Upset if I got killed because somebody thought I was a different kind of eliminator, so I think this possibility has some merit. The last option is that Jain is just doing what he says, playing YOLO style. I can't really think of how to respond to this except that it is still suspicious and if it is the real reason, I suggest to Jain that he add a few restrictions to his YOLO strategy. So I think I am sufficiently convinced to vote for Jain. As for Karlin, the suspicions there are based more on a lack of behavior, which is a bit harder to judge than actual responses, but I think that at this point, having posted but not addressing the comments against himself, Karlin is also a good lynch prospect.- 1221 replies

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I am reading the thread and I can make a substantial post later today, so if I don't then go ahead and flag me for inactivity. I will need to go back and look at what has changed regarding Clanky and Hael since they are my top suspects for cultists and it seemed to me earlier that they were suspected by others, but their names haven't come up yet this cycle, possibly because of the Gyorn discussion.- 1221 replies
