    Sorry for my lack of content today, I've been pretty low on energy. Feel free to come after me for being hypocritical if I don't give some decent analysis by sometime early tomorrow.

    Arenta put a new sign outside her office, which read, "Rent fees increase for everyone by 10% per mention of specific Allmonatic abilities. Those fools causing trouble don't need any help from us." Then she wandered off to the tavern to see who was wasting money on drinks instead of covering their debts.

    It happens a lot on the first day when nobody actually has any idea what they are doing. Honestly, my opinion on the D1 vote is you don't need reasoning to vote. Rather, basically all votes should be fine until an argument against them is presented..

    I personally take the view that everyone is guilty until proven innocent. Like, not doing things (sus or not) is suspicious in and of itself. In the current meta, it would be extremely easy for the elim team to lie low and let all the active players kill each other off. That hasn't really happened in recent games because our elims like to stick to their usual activity levels, but it is a real danger. I'm voting for Reading, not because they have done something suspicious, but because they haven't done anything village (and because we need a D1 grinch). We actually sort of could say this. I'm not saying that we should, but as active, voting players, we get to dictate who dies. Yeah, some of the less active players may jump on the wagons toward cycle end, but we are really the ones choosing who dies. And if there is a legitimate point to be made that low-actives are inherently suspicous (and I believe there is), then we can vote for them while honestly doing our best to help the village win.

    How can you justify voting on any of the above players after posting this? There are several players who have posted, and are thus participating in the game, but who haven't said enough to draw attention to themselves. Reading and Danex come to mind, and there might be some others I'm thinking of. We can't justifiably complain about the state of the meta and then go take actions that reinforce the status quo. There is a difference between going full-blown Contribution Crusade and strategically keeping our more vocal players alive so that they can contribute analysis later in the game.

    I'm going to break character to point out that we just had a discussion about grinching folks who talk a lot early in the game, and here everyone is voting on Quinn, Ilwei, Matrim and Striker (also Stick and Pyro, who are both on their first game back from long hiatuses).

    Arenta stood back and admired her handiwork. Or she admired that you couldn't tell that she had done anything to the section of street just outside the tavern. Likely some folks would head this way once the day's killing was done, and she would be able to pin them down on their debts. That work done, she returned home to look through her ledgers. Turned out that keeping records on everyone in the town's debts translated quite nicely into keeping tabs on who was a priority to string up. It seemed that Variel @StrikerEZ had gathered some suspicion earlier in the day, although given how talkative the man was, it figured something he said would come out wrong. He'd probably get killed sooner or later, but later would at least give him some time to say something sensible first. And to pay the 5 boxings he owed her, plus interest. If you are reading this, you owe me 20 clips for sticking your foolish head where it doesn't belong. Fleur ( @TJ Shade) was another person that stood out, although for a different reason. She'd heard his comment earlier, and to her mild surprise, we was caught up on his dues. Guess I've gotten lax with my hidden fees. Her position as landlord oddly made it financially wise to support the death of those who didn't owe anything, since they were harder to extort. But she supposed that killing off her only faithful tenant wouldn't be a good start to the week. Even if he spent his time flirting with wizened old ladies. Mr. Duck Man ( @Shard of Reading) was too quiet. He'd been hanging on the edge of the discussion, but not saying much. That was a great way to help trouble along while looking like you weren't responsible. Like a child, advising their friends on how to get into trouble, and then standing back to watch the fun. Her rent ledger didn't have anything down for him. Guess I'll have do do something about that, if he survives the day. But maybe there are others that would be amenable to his removal.

    Arenta frowned from her chair as the sun peeked over the horizon. She sighed, and then slowly rose, bones creaking. Today was the day the town was going to start killing off all her tenants. Only one thing to be done then. Best jump right in and get her hands dirty. No sense leaving this sort of work to youngsters. If you wanted something done right, you had to do it yourself. And of course, if people were going to be gathering, that might present some financial opportunities as well. She figured Joe (Shard of Reading) was as likely to be responsible for trouble as anyone else. A drunkard and gambler was about as bad as it got in a town of this size. And those ducks kept driving her property value down.

    Arenta glared at Obliteration. "Everyone in this here gathering currently is behind on their payments. And then a young whippersnapper such as yourself comes along and tries to get one of my tenants killed? I won't stand for it, I tell you. People can start murdering each other when Mayor Wilson gives the say so, but until then, go bother someone else. And you owe me 10 clips per the sign that is just behind you which I definitely didn't just put in while you were distracted. It says 'Land owned by Arenta, premature discussion of foolish nonsense carries an extra 10 clip fee.'"

    Of course, this thought process caused me to dismiss Lotus as village for voting on Archer. Sometimes the elims just don't act as you expect them to .

    Yeah, that was sort of by accident though, and I felt pretty bad about being a primary cause of Ventyl's death that game. My village instincts kicked in before I realized that I was casting shade on the strongest member of my team. Also, a reputation for bussing isn't really a helpful thing to have regardless of which side of the game you are on. It makes it much harder to gain trust. Maybe. I feel like people were considering me as a potentially threatening elim without actually thinking about what elim!Araris would be most likely to do based on recent games (where I tied Lotus's streak of 4 elim games in a row). And I think the key thing here is distinguishing between poor play and elim play. Both can or do result in scenarios that are not great for the village, but elims (if they are playing well) do it much more intentionally.

    I'm not actually sure if I avoided my typical playstyle at all this game. But I also think my reputation for lying low is overstated, and at the very least my post where I voted on Striker kept me in the spotlight for quite some time.

    This game was very fun. Thank you @Sart for running it! I greatly enjoyed my PM with @Kasimir, who also provided enough pressure on me to keep me engaged in the game later on. I just skimmed the dead doc and apologize for any stress I caused during D8 with my very erratic voting and tinfoiling about Archer. I was sort of busy that day but also trying to skim over everything to make sure I’d accounted for the possibilities. I guess my motto is “act first, fix mistakes later”. I’m not sure if I have too much to say about the rules or the distribution, since the game played itself out very nicely. I was getting a little paranoid at the end that an elim had started with Rainbow Chalk, which I think goes to show that the rules has enough flexibility to make it difficult to 100% mechanically solve the game. I’ll definitely be interested to play this ruleset again if Sart plans to GM it in the future.

    Arenta scowled when she heard the news of refugees inbound to Fallion’s Tears. Gullible fools that believed the rumors of Koloss, yet didn’t care about the equally absurd tales of Spiked. But then a smile threatened the corners of her mouth. More people meant more chances to collect rent, after all. I’m pretty excited to play this game, and I’m looking forward to killing playing with a bunch of new folks. I promise not to murder you during the first turn, so long as your payment is on time .

    Well, the downside to Books being elim is his partner could be literally anyone else (except Archer). I'd give a slightly higher weight to Devotary for having Warding+, but other than that, I think we are back to looking at our suspicions. I'll see what I can see about interactions with Books.

    In the group PM (of myself, Gears, Archer, Kas, and Books), Kas told everyone what you were doing. So Books didn't need to use a LoM to know your action. It's basically a guarantee that the PM had an elim in it, which is unfortunate.

    @Gears @Mist @Random Bystander @Archer @Flyingbooks @Devotary of Spontaneity Just a friendly reminder to vote and take actions before the cycle ends. As I said above, I think Books is most likely an elim, possibly with Devotary as a teammate. Archer I think is mechanically confirmed village, unless the elims started with a piece of Rainbow Chalk or Archer has been helping them along the whole time, both of which I judge extremely unlikely. Burnt, Mist, Randby, and myself can’t have sent in the kill, although we could all be teammates of the person who did. Devotary is likely in the same group. That leaves Books and Gears, and I think Gears has a fair amount going for himself as village by now.

    I've read the first two books. Is there a specific part of the worldbuilding that you thought would make an interesting game mechanic?

    Well, I figured I'd need a different character since we aren't in Tyrian Falls, but I really like being Aralis. He captures my inner elderly grouchy guy pretty well. So this was what came out. I had something like this in mind since you mentioned you were running this game, but didn't think about the Rent thing until you posted the list of cosmetic roles. The funny thing is, Aralis and Rent really didn't get along. But now I get to be both!

    Aralis woke from a dream. Some foolish nonsense where Spiked had infiltrated Tyrian Falls to assist an invasion of Koloss. Bah. Everyone knew that Koloss were just a story the Lord Ruler told everyone to keep them in line, and why would anyone stab themselves with a shard of metal? People these days. He'd heard so many of their stories that they were starting to get to his dreams as well. No matter. Aralis went outside to sit in his chair and grouch at the neighbors. Something did seem... odd, about the town today. The buildings didn't look quite like he'd remembered them. Old age must finally be catching up to me. Pushing the thought aside, Aralis closed his eyes. "What in tarnation are you doing on my porch?" Aralis woke with a start, disoriented. An elderly lady stood over him, gesturing threateningly with a rather sturdy looking broom. He tried to mumble something in response, reaching for his staff, when the woman smacked him across the head and the world went dark. Arenta rubbed her eyes. When she'd hit the madman, he'd faded away into nothing. Funny, the things you thought you saw when you were older. Of course, the townsfolk didn't have her excuse. Jabbering on about Koloss and Spiked. Their eyes were still young enough to see the world as it was, they just chose not to. Or, more likely, they wanted the threat of invasion as an excuse to get out of paying her their dues. Arenta, the Grumpy Landlord, is prepared to defend Fallion's Tears from foolishness and anything else that might prevent the collection of rent.

    You also appear to have used a Map on N6, which is the only time you could have stolen the Shadowblaze. The fact we need to account both for an extra specialization and an extra Map makes me not very suspicious of you converting Archer. I also forgot that Burnt did Acid during D7, and not really anyone else could have, except you. So elim!Archer requires elim!Burnt and elim!Mist and I still don’t think that all adds up. Archer is very probably village.

    @Archer If you look at the time stamps, Gears posted what Randby did in our group PM prior to the action having been revealed. So Gears would have had to guess correctly who did a LoW. I also think Gears’s actions don’t fit super well with him being elim. I also feel like the death of Kas suggests that an elim was in our group PM, since he would have been pretty risky to try and kill given his recent LoF actions. That makes me most suspicious of Books. I also think it’s a good point to mention that Books/Devotary is a possible team, with Devotary using a LoM+ and Books sending in the kill.
