  1. The Cornucopia/Atrophy plotline is fine with me. Next for Corvallis, once Buttercup responds I think I'm going to get Rainmaker to (finally) meet up with Gelliton, after which she retires to get some R & R. After that, it might be time for a quick time jump to sync up with Mestiv's characters, especially since the only ongoing interaction at the moment is GOOD and Kenshin, whose interaction can be a little more time flexible. My thought was that Legacy would be the leader who made long term decisions, but that Peregrine (still deciding if I like the name) would take over and do more immediate commands/coordination during missions, when Legacy becomes less stable. Basically Legacy would say, "this is what we are going to do" and then Peregrine figures out how to do it, and coordinates the efforts. I was also thinking of having her intentionally using her own weakness to gain moments of clarity when she gets overwhelmed. I just have to figure out a way for this to work without her becoming redeemed. Since she is using the weakness, but not really facing the fear, I think that it could work, but would appreciate feedback.
  2. So, these two just came together. I think creating a second character helped - I often have trouble creating one character without much context. Legacy Peregrine: Anyways, I'm still working on them, but what do you guys think?? Do you know anyone who would be interested in hiring these two? EDIT: Interestingly enough, one of my English teachers once asked if I spoke/wrote in German, since I often randomly capitalize important words. Though all four of my grandparents are fluent, and my parents speak a little, I've never spoken a word, so I guess I blame it on genetics?
  3. Valerie Elariel watched from the gallery at her father's side as the trial came to a close. One by one, the elite of Luthadel were making their way to the Lord Ruler's representatives to cast their votes and determine the guilt of those stood accused of crimes against the empire. Though Elariel had kept itself removed from the conflict, the trial had been the talk of the town for many months now, and Valerie had spent many of the afternoons since returning from her honeymoon watching the proceedings with her new husband or with her father. "How curious that House Vinid and House Erikell are not stepping in to defend themselves, or their leaders." Lady Wilson, Lord Tekiel, and Lord Zerrung had laid a compelling case against the former accusors, and neither Lord Vinid nor Lord Erikell had offered any form of defense. "Do you think their silence will condemn them in the eyes of their peers?" Valerie's father, Lord Mikhail Elariel, smirked to himself, as if laughing at a private joke. "You assume dear, that the votes will have anything to do with the case at hand." Valerie nodded thoughtfully. "You think people will vote along political lines: shielding their allies and accusing their enemies. But what about the truth of what happened? Even if they survive this mess, how do Houses Vinid and Erikell expect to gain influence in the future if they do not at least deny the allegations that have been made against them?" Mikhail Elariel made a dismissive motion with his hand. After allegations that High Prelan Benedict's former ties to their house might unduly bias him, Valerie's father had made a point of staying away from the proceedings, lest his interest fuel undue speculation. Looking up at the dais, it was hard for Valerie to imagine anything biasing the High Prelan. Years spent in service of the Lord Ruler had changed him, made him hard and cold. He barely seemed human. Comparing him to her kind-hearted father was like comparing night and day; and had she not been told she could have never guessed they were related. One thing was clear. While the lords and ladies in Luthadel might be influenced by political agendas, the High Prelan was only interested in seeing that justice was done, and Valerie had a feeling that the sort of Justice High Prelan Benedict desired was the kind that involved an obsidian axe and a great deal of blood. "Their fates are all sealed in any course," Mikhail was saying. "The most powerful truth is not what actually happened, but what the most people desire to be true. If Cladent and Appolonius do not have the support to get through this ordeal without defending themselves, then they wouldn't be able to last long after this trial anyways. The Lord Ruler has no tolerance for weakness. Whether he expunges it by inciting House Wars or by holding trials is of little consequence. The stronger parties will win today, and the weaker ones will lose." Something going on down below drew Valerie's attention. It would seem that the time for voting had almost come to a close. "So, how are you going to vote, father?" Mikhail smiled. "Weren't you paying attention dear? I will vote for what I think is true, naturally."
  4. "Oh Kenshin, what a delight to meet you!" The Princess waived her hand, motioning for Sebastien to leave. Before he closed the door behind him, the Princess hummed, summoning two of her birds to her side. One, a meadow lark, landed gracefully on her outstretched finger, while the second, a humming bird, hovered obediently at her side. "I hope that I have not inconvenienced you in the slightest darling, but working in this, dare I say, dreadful rain has been exhausting. My delicate skin just cannot put up with such intolerable conditions. You understand?" As she entered the home, the Princess absent-mindedly brushed her hand against nearby walls and surfaces, making already well maintained materials shine and sparkle. "Normally I would look for a pleasant meadow or hollow tree to take my nap in, but as you can, napping outdoors in these conditions simply wouldn't do. My little friends here should be able to look after me just fine, so just show me to the nearest divan or bed, I'll freshen up a bit, and then be on my way!" By the time Rainmaker arrived at the scene, finding Buttercup standing over the overturned van, glaring angrily into the interior. Approaching, Rainmaker expected to see the corpse of whatever epic had been causing such a nuisance. Mid-Day bubble drop was approaching quickly, and Rainmaker still wanted time to prepare before greeting some of the new residents. Once that was over with, she resolved to leave her underlings to fix whatever messes arose. She was Queen of this city after all, and if she wanted a relaxing afternoon, Calamity help her, she would damnation well take it. Drawing near to the van, Rainmaker was surprised to see it was empty except for what looked like a pile of dust or ash. Her skin glimmered as her gaze shifted to Buttercup. "Since it's doubtful you've randomly acquired to power to disintegrate your foes, am I to believe that the epic driving this van has escaped you?"
  5. Does someone want to explain how the voting works again (like where we do it, and what the format is)? I've had fun following along with this interlude, but am unsure of some of the technicalities. Do we just send the vote into Wyrm in PM, with the names of the people we feel are guilty? I just did three MBI posts, so I'm a little RP'd out at the moment, but I'll try to get up an Elariel reaction to things tomorrow. If it doesn't happen, it wouldn't have much bearing on the game, since they've been more observational of this conflict anyways. EDIT: Also, I have verbal in person confirmation from CraigJohn (who plays Jessica Sarasvati) that he will no longer be participating in the game (apparently he bit off more than he can chew), so that's one less vote.
  6. Ah, I see. That would depend on how his powers work, whether they target the powers themselves, or something about the epic. If its something about the epic, then vanillas who have been gifted powers should be fine. If it's the powers themselves though, then he should be able to suppress gifted powers the same way he suppresses regular ones.
  7. I'll repeat my questions here, just in case they are missed in the last thread. Mashadar, I replied to your PM. Feel free to post! Blackhoof, could you give me a description of what Iconoclast's remains look like? I need a scene when Rainmaker shows up, and I'm kind of confused about what happened there.
  8. Actually, Brandon has said that gifting is technically a separate power that applies to all of an epics other powers. My understanding of how Corpsemaker's powers work is that he can only nullify one power at a time, so he could nullify a power OR the ability to gift, but not both. I would assume though that if a power was suppressed, it would be unable to be gifted, but maybe not? We also don't know what would happen to powers that were gifted to someone else before nullification. Mashadar, I'll reply to your PM shortly. This weekend was busy, sorry for the absence. Blackhoof, could you give a description of what is left of the dissolved Iconoclast? I need a scene for Rainmaker to arrive at, and I didn't really understand what happened there.
  9. I can't quite remember everyone, but Euphoria is late twenties/early thirties, Rainmaker is mid forties, Skinsaver is fifties, Princess GOOD is twenties, and Insight would be the same age as Euphoria. For the Dalles, I think Brandon and Taylor are both mid twenties, so it looks like I have a decent range. Don't know how that happened.
  10. Question: What do we know about Knighthawk? I know in the sample from Calamity but do they employ any epics? I was thinking of making my copy-cat epic an employee or former employee of Knighthawk, and was wondering if that might not be possible.
  11. Ooo, I like that (or DLST) better! Switched .
  12. No problem! This seems like a job for: Timeless Daylight Savings Time / Timezone Power: Timeless has a passive ability to distort to flow of time. This power cannot be controlled, and mainly just results in the people who come with range finding themselves to be an hour or two ahead or behind the actual time (depending how long they remain with Timeless's range). And yes, Timeless is the sworn enemy of Metronome.
  13. I thought Illuminati were random?
  14. It is more of a subtle compulsion than "forcing". And this only happens when she herself is singing. Epics would be able to resist the urge to sing, but it would take a lot of effort and self awareness. She can only control animals with impunity though, so any sentient beings have a chance to assert some free will. Usually this means they can resist her orders, but may still end up singing anyways. Regardless, GOOD isn't singing right now, so Kenshin should be fine. Also, Voidus, I'll keep Aphasia in mind. Where is he now?
  15. Another query: I'm trying to decide how Insight's powers interact with sleep. My original idea was that Insight had to become tangible during the day to eat and sleep (his power is active, so he would be unable to stay intangible while sleeping). The issue is what happens to other people who Insight has made intangible. Option 1: All people/things that Insight has made intangible return to normal while Insight is sleeping. The key is whether or not Insight is sleeping/conscious/able to use his powers. Whether or not the person is awake or conscious does not matter. This option makes more sense with Insight's ability to affect inanimate objects. Option 2: When Insight sleeps, only he become tangible, while other people things who he has changed remain intangible. This option could include a stipulation that others become tangible if they fall asleep or lose consciousness. This solves the issue of having people floating around while sleeping (which isn't much of an issue) but creates issues with how Insight's powers work, and also means that Insight cannot affect sleeping people with his powers. Personally, now that I've written them out, I think that Option 1 makes more sense, but what do you guys think?
  16. It's more tempting than I would like to admit, but I think I have enough characters on the go at the moment. Writing a one-off character could be interesting though, so keep me posted if anyone needs someone to kill In other news, I think my resurrection copy-cat epic is coming together. I'll try to get a power profile together soon . I'm also thinking of having Rainmaker scout out an Epic who can help her deal with Insight (not sure if I've mentioned this before). Hypno will already be an asset, but she could definitely use more help. Any suggestions for epics Rainmaker might have heard of, or Jumpdrive might be aware of, who Rainmaker could recruit?
  17. "Let's clean up those bodies; Don't let those corpses get you down! Come on everybody, Let's get them buried underground! So, dig those holes, and drag those stiffs, and let's get on our way, Cuz' once you clean up those bodies, we'll have made a better daaaaaaaaaaay!" Princess Genevieve Oprah Ornatia Delicious finished her latest musical number with a flourish. Looting and burying the corpses left by the latest epic attack was taking longer than she would have liked. Usually by this time, she was almost done her morning rounds and ready for her daily spa appointment. The princess could hardly understand how whatever fuddy duddy of an epic who had caused this mess could be so inconsiderate. Didn't he or she realize that she had more important things to do than clean up other people's messes all day? "Sebastien, I'm taking a break. Would you be a dear and see me inside?" Sebastien nodded obediently, and then turned his horse to follow the Princess's as she headed to the nearest house. Once they arrived, Sebastien dismounted, stretching one hand up in the air so that the Princess would still be sheltered under her umbrella. The sight of him, reaching to keep the umbrella in place while standing there, drenched in his suit, was rather comical, and the Princess couldn't help but laugh. Nonplussed, the Butler knocked smartly on the door and cleared his throat. "Announcing, her Royal Highness, Princess Genevieve Ornatia Oprah Delicious, Princess of Corvallis, Damselle of Dancing, Cutie of Cleanliness, and Sparkler of Sanitation." "Very good Sebastien!" The Princess always enjoyed hearing her titles listed. "Once the door is answered, be a dear and keep the workers on task? I know those badgers can be rather disagreeable, so be sure to keep someone handy to bear the brunt of their claws and teeth if you feel the need to correct their mistakes."
  18. The inclusion of songs means GOOD is usually a little more difficult to write. I'll try to get to her today or tomorrow. Feel free to keep reminding me if I forget .
  19. If a Chase post won't be happening, then I think Buttercup would be next ,since the most time has passed since her last viewpoint (and she was pretty much right with the Van already). She can get Chase's analysis, engage the van/Iconoclast, and then Rainmaker can show up. Blaze, does this sound good to you??
  20. Since I'm currently addicted to this song for some reason, I thought I would ask if the metal ever plays it for everyone's favourite blood manipulator (sorry Red).
  21. Gotta love that moment when you're checking flight prices to Salt Lake City, just to see how much it would cost if you did decide to go to the signing, only to realize that there is no possible way for you to get there in time :(

  22. Rainmaker turned towards the fields as soon as she received Cornucopia's message. True, it was entirely possible that the van just contained a frightened human, fleeing for their life, but said human's life would be a small sacrifice to make in return for a chance to catch the elusive gifter who was plaguing the city with these freakish monsters. As she sped through the air, Rainmaker could not help but grow frustrated with the speed limit on her flight ability. She could travel faster by shifting into cloud form and travelling on the winds, but doing so would make her unable to receive any further transmissions from the other Queens. Despite her impatience, Rainmaker knew that at this stage in the game, information was more important than speed. If she was lucky, Buttercup would reach the van first, and already have the situation well in hand. If that was the case, perhaps she could find time for an afternoon massage. "Chase, we need confirmation about the occupants of that van! What can you tell us?"
  23. And what if Rainmaker destroys him entirely? How long would it take for him to regenerate from that arm he threw into the sewers?
  24. Yes she is, and I'd be game! Would you like to start or should I?
