  1. Winter, should we do a Chase post next in response to Buttercup and Blossom, or should I go next with Rainmaker? Also, is everyone happy with how things are going in Corvallis? Let me know if we are missing things, or if we want to set up any more interactions.
  2. "I'll open up the clouds as soon as I leave the car. Thank-you Cornucopia." Rainmaker motioned for Charlene to hang up the mobile, and then turned to nod to Buttercup as she left the vehicle, leaving her alone with Blossom once again. "That would be a question for Jumpdrive..." Rainmaker was interrupted before she could fully answer Blossom's question by the sounds of shouting and gunshots. Gunsmoke! It would seem that it was time for her to put the useless layabout back in his place. "I'll check in with you later, Blossom. See that the driver gets Charlene back to my offices safely, would you?" Not wanting to go through the awkward shuffling needed to exit the back seat of a car, Rainmaker simply rolled down the window a little, and then burst into her cloud form. After slipping out the window, she re-materialized several feet off the ground, where she found Gunsmoke waiting for her. The air was thick with his smoke, and Rainmaker had to whip up a small wind around herself to keep her lungs clear. He actually thinks he can stand up to me. "Dust, before you am I? Really Gunsmoke, I always knew you were lazy, but I never took for an idiot." Thunder rumbled in the sky, and the rain began to intensify a bit. Rainmaker's skin shone brightly in anticipation for the battle ahead. They moved at the same time, as if they were dance partners and not foes beginning a battle. Gunsmoke fired, but Rainmaker ignored his bullets, working the winds as she burst back into cloud form. After firing a few more shots, Gunsmoke realized his attacks were having no effect against her, and he tried to escape, slipping back into his smoke form. As he did, Rainmaker shifted back from her cloud form and intensified her winds, holding Gunsmoke in place while gathering the rest of his smoke so he could not materialize in another area. Soon the area was clear, except for a roiling dark cloud of smoke that Rainmaker held in place with a sphere of wind. The smoke was so concentrated that it was difficult to see whether Gunsmoke was trying to shift out of his smoke form or not, but Rainmaker was confident that she could hold him in place regardless. Concentrating, Rainmaker rose into the air, bringing the sphere of wind and smoke with her. Once she reached a sufficient height, she opened up the clouds over the area where the attack was supposedly going on, fulfilling her promise to Cornucopia. "Well Gunsmoke, while I would love to spend the day with you, making you see the error of your ways, I'm afraid I have other things to attend to. Your just desserts will have to wait for another time, but believe me, you will get what you deserve in due time." Rainmaker anchored her winds containing Gunsmoke high above the city, and then placed protective winds blowing outwards all around him so that curious flyers could not get too close. She would leave him there until she could find a suitable holding facility for him underground somewhere. Then, her analysts could run test on him until they discovered his weakness and put him down like the rabid dog he was. Rainmaker lowered herself a ways until she could no longer hear the roaring of the winds containing Gunsmoke, and then took out her mobile. "Cornucopia, Buttercup, what is your status in the fields? I have Gunsmoke under control for the moment."
  3. Those are the plot elements I was looking forward to as well. I also liked the tension that her talents and skills could stack, giving her some incentive to die and build those up (I have an intro scene in mind where she manipulates a doctor into killing her to gain his medical knowledge), but if she gets a good epic power, then her preference would be to keep it and avoid dying again at all costs.
  4. According to their IP addresses most are indeed from India. On the subject of banning according to IP address, I don't think I've ever seen the same address twice. There are probably 5 or 6 common variations of the first 6 numbers in the address, but I'd be concerned that wildcard banning all of them would prevent genuine fans from certain regions of India from posting. On the subject of the spam bots timing their attacks, this may be true (or it may be actual people running the spam accounts). It may be because more staff are online during North American daylight hours, but the most severe cases of spam I've encountered and dealt with have usually been near the end of the night if I'm up late, or early in the morning.
  5. Honestly, I like cars as a weakness. I think it gives you lots of opportunities to try to avoid said weakness, and to hide it from other epics, which would give your character some good obstacles to over come right from the beginning. Blaze, would you like to post again before I move things forward with Rainmaker? I'm thinking we can finish our present conversation, and then have Gunsmoke interrupt it. I'll have Rainmaker reacting to Cornucopia (and Buttercup and Blossom if you post), and then to Gunsmoke's attack. Sound good? Okay, so I've thought a little more about my meta copy-cat reincarnation epic, and here's what I'm thinking. I'm using the "she/her" pronouns, because she's a she for some reason in my head, but I reserve the right to change my mind. Powers: Anyways, it's definitely still a work in progress, so let me know what you think. Since I'm still not sure about a lot of it (or about the character in general) I am VERY open to critique. EDIT: You guys, I just thought of the best, most annoying epic ever (even more so than Lucentia at her whiniest!) Name: Babaji
  6. Since Lucy is trying so hard to suppress her powers, it could be fun to have her upper limits be quite powerful, and have the main thing limiting her from exploiting those upper limits be her desire not to be corrupted. On the other hand, if her powers are that strong, her ability to resist corruption for so long would be much more improbable. What if her ability to actualize ink is tied to her own DNA/Identity (we know epic powers somewhat work on this level from motivators). Her tattoos could work because they are dyed into her skin. For the ink that is not on her, perhaps she needs to prepare ink mixed with her saliva or something in order to actualize it? EDIT: Also, sorry for vanishing for the weekend. Craig and I and some friends went on a camping trip, and it was fantastic despite the constant drizzle. Now I know a little of the Corvallis citizens' pain. PS: What would Khione think of Rainmaker? Would they get along, or clash horribly?
  7. "Excellent, then, let's get started, shall we?" Rainmaker brushed passed the other Queens into the waiting limousine, and then beckoned for them to join her. "Char, tell the driver to head towards Gunsmoke's church, on the corner of 25th and Tyler." Gunsmoke's power had been enticing at first, and so Rainmaker had given him an entire church to call his own. Since his arrival, he had proved to be of little use to her, and she would enjoy putting him in his place, and either killing him, or forcing him out of Corvallis. Rainmaker waited until Char joined the three Queens in the back of the limo before continuing. "Char, is Cornucopia on the line?" Char nodded and Rainmaker pressed forward, frustrated with how much time everything was taking. Her skin was glimmering slightly in the relative darkness of the car. "Buttercup, I'll review your report later. Can you give me the gist of it now?" Rainmaker did her best to listen patiently as Buttercup gave her report. It would seem that the epic who had attacked citizens that morning was the same gifter who had attacked the rally the night before. I will make whoever they are wish they had never heard of Corvallis. "From the sounds of things, the same epic is now attacking our fields. The attacks always seem to be concentrated in certain areas, which means the epic we are dealing with likely needs to get close to his victims in order to gift them and drive them mad." Proximity was a common limitation on the ability to gift powers, and one Rainmaker intended to exploit. "I should be able to handle gunsmoke on my own for the moment. Buttercup and Cornucopia, I want you two to head out to the fields and see if you can track the gifter down. At the very least, try to pen him into a certain area, and prevent him from slipping away. Cornucopia, take a helicopter if you need to, but get there quickly." Out in the fields, Corncopia would be at her most powerful, and she stood the best chance at catching their elusive foe. "Buttercup, take what forces you think you will need, and use Chase, if you can track her down. I will arrive to reinforce you once I've dealt with Gunsmoke." "Blossom, I want you two work on keeping the city stable, while doing what you can to track down Euphoria's captor. His name is Insight, and he has the power to turn both incorporeal and invisible, and might be able to do more than that. Jumpdrive has prepared a file on him, and I'll have him send it to all of you." As she spoke, Rainmaker took out her mobile and began typing a short message to Jumpdrive, instructing him to send his file on Insight to all of the Queens. "Work with Jumpdrive and see what you can find. Update me if you uncover more information. When we are done in the fields, I will send Chase to assist you. I also want you keeping an eye on Broadcast. We need to keep the city calm. Have him broadcast hourly messages with some of our PR material, with reminders that Euphoria's power will return when the citizens prove themselves worthy." "Lastly, I've appointed Skinsaver to be Euphoria's replacement for the time being. With the assistance of Euphoria's staff, he will be overseeing the coordination of human resources and the general administration of the city. All inquiries and requests that would normally be sent to Euphoria can be sent to him, or to prominent members of Euphoria's staff." The car turned a corner, and Rainmaker could sense they were getting close to Gunsmoke's supposed location. "All right then, we are almost here. Any questions ladies?" Rainmaker still bristled at how much she was having to do herself, but delegating jobs to the other Queens helped to calm her slightly. Hopefully, dealing with Gunsmoke would give her a much needed opportunity to vent her frustrations.
  8. This WOB seems to contradict that. He specifically says here that creating allomancers is a side effect of ingesting Lerasium, separate from it's true allomantic effect.
  9. Going a step further with this idea though, I think we need to ask whether or not the Inquisitor's or the Lord Ruler knew how to do this with Hemalurgy. If they did, then it could be possible that they used one of these methods to gain access to the Keeper's general archives.
  10. We have seen atium used for the purpose of hemalurgy (stealing traits). We've also seen it used in allomancy and Feruchemy. Similary, we know that Lerasium has an allomantic, feruchemical, and hemalurgic use. However, Lerasium ALSO has a fourth use outside of the three Scadrielen magic systems, which is the ability to give anyone who swallows it allomantic abilities. What I would like to put forward is that atium also has a fourth use. This fourth purpose could be related to hemalurgy, but not a part of the actual magic system (and thus not requiring sacrifices and bind points?). To make things clear, here's how I'm trying to think about the metals, and what I mean by their "fourth use" or "fourth purpose". Lerasium: Allomantic Use - Unknown Effect. Feruchemical Use - Storing unknown trait or quality. Hemalurgic Use - Stealing unknown trait or quality. Fourth Use - Granting the power of allomancy when ingested, or strengthening an allomancers power if that person is already an allomancer, by increasing connection with Preservation. Atium: Allomantic Use - Mental enhancement, and seeing the future or possible futures of others. Feruchemical Use - Stores Age Hemalurgic Use - Wild Card - Steals any trait depending on bind point, and does so more efficiently than the regular metal used to store it. Possibly could steal all traits? We don't know for sure. Fourth Use - ??? Perhaps something to do with increasing one's connection to Ruin? Perhaps using atium in this way could cause madness? For this fourth use, I think people are right to focus on the fact that Preservation is end positive, and thus bestowing or adding power makes sense, and that a fourth independent use of atium should similarly be end negative and involve stealing or removing power. Whatever this fourth use is, I think it would make sense for said use not to involve conventional hemalurgic sacrifices, just as the fourth use of Lerasium does not involve burning metals. This is off topic, but I also find it interesting that allomancy is potentially the most diverse magic system (even though hemalurgy could be argued to be the most versatile). Feruchemy can be characterized as "storing and withdrawing traits in metal" while hemalurgy is "stealing traits through sacrifice by metal". By this pattern, would allomancy be "gaining traits by burning metals"? While Feruchemy comes down to storing and withdrawing, hemalurgy to sacrificing and stealing, allomancy is more difficult to boil down. Allomancers burn metals yes, but those metals seem to do a wider variety of things than simply storing or stealing traits. Any theories on what end-negative use atium could have outside of the three magic systems?
  11. That is an impressive organ, but all it did was make me want to turn this guy into an epic:
  12. So, I was reading the AMA again and thinking about God Metals, and something Brandon said (basically that our understanding of the god metals has some holes in it) got me thinking about how atium works. We know that Lerasium can be used by both allomancers and non-allomancers, but in different ways. Non-allomancers do not need the ability to burn metals in order to tap the fraction of Preservation's power held in the Lerasium. Now let's turn to atium. To paraphrase what another user (mooglefrooglian) said on Reddit, Allomancy is required in order to burn atium--the burner either needs to be a seer or a Mistborn. It makes sense that a normal person swallowing atium is unable to use it like a person swallowing Lerasium is able to tap into its power, because swallowing and burning metals is part of allomancy, a magic system that is of Preservation, not Ruin. So, if used hemalurgically, is it possible that atium would not need to be charged, just like Lerasium does not need to be burned in order to grant allomancy? If this is the case, it could be that hemalurgic atium, like allomantic Lerasium, has more than one effect, depending on whether it is used within the magic system (with sacrifices, blood, and the whole works) or if it is just made to pierce the skin. The one hole in this theory is Shardic intent. It makes sense that Preservation's power can be given to anyone, since Preservation's intent is to preserve as much as possible. Ruin's intent is subtractive--compelling the holder to destroy and reduce things to smaller and smaller pieces. Hemalurgy requires sacrifice because it suits ruin's intent to concentrate power in the hands of fewer individuals. So, allowing for potential hemalurgists to gain power without sacrifice by using uncharged atium would be contrary to Ruin's intent. The only ways around this hurdle that I see are a) that the effect of using uncharged atium for hemalurgy does something that suits Ruin's intent in the same way that creating Mistborn fits with Preservation's intent, or b ) that utilizing the god metals outside of the magic systems allows the user to tap into a fraction of the shard's power, regardless of intent. Personally, I like option A better, but what do you guys think? Thanks for tolerating my musings .
  13. This?
  14. I think it would depend on intent. Accidental deaths (such as the tree) would have no effect on her, and she would respawn normal (I like how I tried so hard to keep things gender neutral, but she still ended up a 'she' in my head). If a raptor who was just wandering around killed her, she would gain the raptor's physical characteristics (strength, speed, etc.) without any physical transformation. However, if Lightwards was controlling a Raptor and he used it to kill her, I think the power would attach to Lightward's intent, and she would gain his necromantic abilities. Basically, the question to ask is always "who/what killed her and how?" If the answer is epic X with power Y, then that is the ability she gets. Where I'm running into trouble with the intent model though is her intentionally putting herself in harms way to gain powers. Should intent be necessary? If not, then I think the Lightwards/Raptor example would remain the same, but the crashing into the tree option would perhaps make her slightly more resilient to damage, making her skin as hard/resistant as bark? Then the question would be whether or not she would burn easier if she acquired a tree's resistance to damage (I'm looking at resistance/immovability for what she acquires, since that is the aspect of the tree that caused the death via the car crash). I'm still not sure if I have a model that works effectively, so maybe this will take some more brain storming...
  15. How about some sort of secretary or paper pusher? The threat of Reader seeing her could be both fun to try to avoid, or annoying if he finds her too easily, so it could go either way. Also, given Reader's current restrictions, I figured that while Autumn would still be checking in with him, he wouldn't have as much access to the rest of the "staff" (how much staff does the 'immigration committee' for lack of a better term, have anyways?). Also, in other news, I had an idea for a meta-epic power that I don't think has been written about yet, but is probably in Voidus's vault somewhere. I already have a lot on the go, so I'm not sure if I have room for another character, but I think this power could be a fun addition to any of the current plot-lines. If we do have a Rogue-style copy-cat epic all ready, let me know . Power: Adaptive Ressurection - This epic can resurrect instantly, and comes back with the power/skill/talent used to kill them If a person stabs them with a sword, they come back possessing that person's ability to use a sword. If they are shot, they acquire the person who shot them's knowledge of guns and marksmanship skills. If they are killed by an Epic, they gain the power used to kill them (Example: if killed by Rainmaker's lightning, they would gain her ability to distort the weather, but not her flight, shining skin, or PI ability). If we wanted an epic who could eventually be a big bad, the abilities they acquire could stack (which would be fun in a let's destroy everything kind of way), or if we wanted a more balanced minor epic, we could say they only aquire one ability/skill/power at a time. If more than one power/skill/ability is used to kill them (like if a super strong epic used a weapon to kill them) then they could gain that epic's skill with the weapon, AND their physical enhancement. One thing I think would be fun about this epic is that they could be constantly discovering new abilities, and getting more powerful over time. If we chose the second option, where her powers don't stack and are reset with each Resurrection, then we could have her be extra careful with her life whenever she gets a more valuable power, since she wouldn't want to lose it. It would also be cool if copying another epic's powers also gave her a portion of their brand of corruption, since she would be acquiring the power and the skill to use it, which would come from practice and use. Thoughts?
  16. Speaking of Nighthound, did we ever discuss how his powers work now that we know that gifting is actually a separate power that applies to all of an epic's powers? His original app claims that he can only gift the physical enhancements, and not the ability to domesticate or to heal. I'm assuming that domestication, since it is more of a quirk of his gifting, cannot be gifted, but healing can be and he just chooses not to? Or did we just decide to let him defy canon? I'm also still wondering about T-Swift. Since no one is volunteering a suggestion for her to impersonate, and I want her to be able to actually interact with people, how does one of the player characters employees or co-workers sound? It would have to be a vanilla, since she can't replicate powers, but other than that I'm open to suggestions! Out of the Dalles-loyal characters, I'd say Autumn, Scribbler, Vondra, Emma, or Deathwish could be fun to interact with, but I'd be open to RPing with others as well. If anyone I just listed would be opposed to having an acquaintance killed and impersonated, let me know!
  17. Generation 3, Turn 4 Mikhail Elariel Actions:
  18. If Cornucopia accepts the conference call, I can also do a Rainmaker post next, and then we can just get Cornucopia's reactions after. Just let me know if Cornucopia will be conferenced in to the meeting or not .
  19. Also, Rainmaker post! Blaze, I tried not to talk about Blossom too much, so feel free to fill in any blanks with her reactions. So, Rainmaker's next move (once Gunsmoke is dealt with and the problem in the fields is contained for the moment), will be to try to find an epic who can track down Insight. I know we already have a number of epics with tracking abilities of different sorts. Is there anyone who could potentially track down Insight who would be well known enough for Jumpdrive to have heard of? If so, perhaps Rainmaker can have them brought to Corvallis for a while to help track down Euphoria . I'd also be fine if someone has a new epic idea that could fulfill this role, but it would be fun if there was an existing character who was free and willing .
  20. Rainmaker exited the broadcasting room, and was greeted by a crowd of assistants and attendants, all seemingly desperate for her attention. Rainmaker frowned, trying to focus. What was that about Gunsmoke going on a rampage? More carnage in the streets from the strange gifting epic? Something was going on in the fields? "ENOUGH!" Unable to take it any longer, Rainmaker lashed out, sending everyone flying backwards into heaps on the ground with a burst of wind. Her powers were always weaker indoors, but even then she was still a force to be reckoned with. Computers were smashed against walls, and entire desks were turned over. Broadcast himself crouched in a corner, silent for once as he cowered in the face of Rainmaker's anger. Indeed, the entire room fell silent, finally giving Rainmaker some of the peace she desired. "Now, let's proceed in an orderly fashion, shall we?" Rainmaker belatedly realized that her rage had caused her to shine brilliantly, likely blinding those closest to hear temporarily, and making it difficult for the others to focus. Breathe deeply. Control yourself. Rainmaker took several deep breaths, repeating her mantra until the light subsided. "There we go. Blossom, is Buttercup already on her way? Go find out what's delaying her, and see that she gets her now. I wish to speak with both of you as soon as we are done here. Now, Candice, what's that you were saying about Gunsmoke?" When no answer came, Rainmaker did her best to stifle her frustration. "Candice?" "Apologies majesty." Near the back, a man Rainmaker didn't know by name raised his hand. "It's just that you... that is to say... Candice seems to be unconscious at the moment. She hit her head against the wall." "Does she require medical attention?" Rainmaker had no doubt that the servants would appreciate her show of concern for an underling's life, even though her only real concern was the headache having to fill yet another vacant position would cause. "She's breathing majesty, but she's still not responding." "Very well. Send for an ambulance, and take her to Skinsaver. Tell him I want her fully recuperated and ready to work again by this afternoon. For now, just get her out of here so that I can proceed with business." Two other servants rose with the man who had spoke to carry Candice out of the room. "Now then, is there anyone here who is still in possession of their faculties who can tell me what in Calamity is going on with Gunsmoke?" "He seems to have gone rogue, majesty." The speaker was a young woman in the back of the room. Her clothing and meek attitude marked her as a vanilla, but her thick-framed glasses reminded Rainmaker of Euphoria. "Go on." The woman took a deep breath, apparently to steady herself, before giving a succinct but detailed description of Gunsmoke's recent actions and location. When she finished, Rainmaker nodded to herself thoughtfully. "What's your name?" "My name? My name is Charlene, Shining One, but I would be happy to be called anything else if it would please you." Despite the fear evident in the woman's posture and in her eyes, she spoke confidently and her voice did not quiver. "And you worked with Candice?" Rainmaker spoke softly, maintaining the fearful hush that had fallen about the room after her initial outburst. Frightened eyes darted back and forth between her and Charlene, their owners fearing to breathe lest they draw Rainmaker's wrath upon themselves. "I'm the office secretary. I took notes when a field agent made his original report to Candice." "A secretary, how wonderful. I suppose that makes you good at paying attention, doesn't it. I don't suppose you would happen to also know all the other things that seem to be acquiring my attention at the moment?" Rainmaker's tone shifted slightly, acquiring an edge of danger to it. Idly, she lowered the temperature of the room slightly, sending chills down everyone's spines just for effect. As she took a step towards Charlene, her skin began to shimmer again, letting off a dangerous glow. "Go on Charlene, show me what you know." Charlene swallowed nervously, but when she started speaking her voice remained steady. "Princess GOOD has commenced cleaning up the bodies left by an epic attack this morning, and I believe Queen Buttercup has prepared a full report on that attack. The gentleman in the green over there should have more information if you require it. Just as you finished your broadcast, we began receiving reports of a further disturbance in the fields, but have not had time to get accurate details. Lord Broadcast can likely provide you with more information when it becomes convenient." The entire spiel had been measured and calm, but delivered in a single breathe. As she finished, Charlene took a moment to look up at Rainmaker before sending her gaze straight back the ground. "Is there anything else you require of me, Shining One?" Rainmaker smiled, and reached out to cup Charlene's chin in her hand. "Yes, there is one more thing. Congratulations Char, you've just earned yourself a promotion. You'll be attending me for the day, taking messages and compiling them, and then delivering them when the time is right. Impress me as you have here, and the promotion could become permanent." Rainmaker withdrew her hand and turned to face the rest of the crowd. "Now, everyone can stop crouching on the floor like idiots, and get back to doing their bloody jobs. Broadcast! You in the green! Both of you get over here and get me filled in." ***** Fifteen minutes later, Rainmaker finally exited the station, Char following close behind her. Blossom, just hanging up her mobile, was waiting for them, standing next to a black limousine, which Rainmaker had gotten Char to call for soon after her promotion. "Well? Any word from your sister? It seems our head of security is doing a particularly deplorable job of keeping the peace today, judging by how many messes I'm cleaning up for her. Let's get this meeting over with so we can all get to work." As Rainmaker stepped out of the building and into the rain, a small break opened in the clouds, letting down a bright ray of sunshine while creating an area of dryness in her immediate vicinity. "Char, see about conferencing in Cornucopia, will you? If there's a problem in her fields, she'll want to know about it."
  21. So, I'm thinking Taylor Swift spent last night finding an suspecting victim and stealing their house. If you can think of an NPC vanilla in the Dalles, or even just some facts about said vanilla, that would be fun for her to impersonate, let me know!
  22. Generation 3 - Turn 3 Mikhail Elariel INVITATION TO THE LORDS AND LADIES OF LUTHADEL: You are cordially invited to a ball and showcase at the Elariel Keep in Luthadel. Bring your house's best products, and display them in style for the entire city to see in our showcase! Whether you are a seller or a buyer, this is an evening you will not want to miss. - Lord Mikhail Elariel Action:
  23. I was originally intending them to be clear, like Prof's forcefields, but I'm also fine with an outside tint if that is what you want (it would go with Bubble's colour scheme when flying). I do like the idea of the tint being more concentrated when the bubbles are smaller, and less when the bubble is larger. I also would prefer for there to be no tint from the inside. The original idea for the bubbles is that they could be selective, so that they let air, water, ground, light, in, but prevent living things, projectiles, etc, from entering or leaving. With this in mind, the light from outside should be able to enter the bubble unimpeded, so the sky should look normal from inside the bubble. Even with a tint, we've never said the bubbles produce light. With a blue tint, I think it would be difficult to see at all during clear days, which is the weather that Corvallis usually has. It likely can only be seen from the outside on cloudy days or at sunset, because at night it would be too dark.
  24. I believe her reincarnation is to the closest explosion, and it does have a somewhat limited range. Didn't Silver mention it somewhere? A quick reread of the thread itself says no, but does confirm that Rainmaker identifies both herself and the city by name, meaning Converter could probably just find her way back. She'd have to do it with only her powers for resources, but with her kind of power, it shouldn't be hard to get a mode of transportation and the tools she needs to get there.
  25. I would agree with this assessment. With her powerset, it would be pretty easy to kill herself. Interesting... Trying to decide what this all effects. As for Converter getting in, I don't think that would be a problem. The key would be her having heard enough about Rainmaker to know she was in Corvallis. So far what the sequence of events from Converter's POV is as follows: (A) Is killed by servants, ( Reincarnates inside Corvallis, © Starts attacking people, (D) is attacked by Rainmaker and eventually contained. I'm not sure if Rainmaker ever mentions Corvallis explicitly, or where Converter was before popping in, but if she's unfamiliar with the area, doesn't know to look out for the bubble, and reincarnates somewhere else, it could be difficult to even find her way back. Of course, if she knows anything about prominent Oregon Epics, she could probably figure out where she was (though she didn't seem to recognize Rainmaker by reputation, so there's that).
