  1. Yep. It's that that gets me. Sometimes I'll even agree with something, but the way it's put makes me want to cringe and say "Hey, hey, let's take a deep breath here." And then those kinds of people are used as an example by people who think differently to say that all people of whatever opinion are like that.
  2. Cool article! It's always bothered me that Balto always gets all the credit. He only ran the last leg, guys! Togo ran so much farther! In other news, FRIDAY!
  3. I would give this a thousand upvotes. You explained it perfectly.
  4. It is a truly great art. There should be an Olympic event for this. "Awwwww purple flying monkey heads!" "You snorkeling mongoose!" "Bongos! Bongobongobongobongo!"
  5. On swearing: I don't. I do get bothered by it. Honestly, I prefer saying something stupid when things happen that would normally constitute a swear. Like "sparkly purple rhinos." And sometimes I'll find myself saying "Aw, shucks!" really seriously, which makes me start laughing and the people around me wonder yet again if I've finally lost it.
  6. Look! I'm festive! I've got a scarf and everything!

  7. I've always found it interesting how cats can levitate like that. Also, my new profile picture, jumping on the bandwagon for the Christmas-y stuff. This is Aura. Aura is one of my characters. Aura is grumpy. Another character (I'm betting Cela, who is always cheerful and can knit) made her a Christmas sweater and scarf. Aura is unsure of how to react. Voila.
  8. I just realized pre-Ascension Scadrial probably looks a bit like some sort of death metal version of Gallifrey.
  9. Imagine having all these guys together in a kindergarten."NO STORMLIGHT STOP TRYING TO EAT THE LIGHTBULBS!" "NO MISTBORN STOP TRYING TO EAT THE TABLE LEGS!" "ALCATRAAAAAAAZ!"
  10. When I fist saw the title I thought it meant book personalizations as in "What would the books' personalities be like?" Alloy of Law was probably a hyperactive child, while Mistborn was the one kid that sat in a corner tearing heads off dolls. Stormlight was always off on his own, pretending he was in his own little world. Elantris was somewhat normal, but always getting bumps and bruises. Warbreaker went crazy with the crayons and especially the finger painting. I'll stop now.
  11. How about Angry Young Man by Billy Joel? I think I recommended it to you before, but it's still good. Also, I love the fact that even among other fandoms, Sherlock fans are considered insane.
  12. Awesome! If you need a prompt, you can do something like my aunt: she writes letters to all her nieces and nephews for a writing warmup. The letters are from a dragon named Flamber. He likes brownies and making song parodies about major events.
  13. On colonization: A clarification on why the colonists originally came over to America: I think someone asked why (sort of) a while back, so I want to clarify. It was because of religious persecution back in England and disapproval of the Anglican Church's reforms. Aaaand for my opinion: Yes, European expansion was bad for a lot of people. However, without it we wouldn't have a lot of the things we have today. If everyone stayed where they were, for one, I wouldn't be here, because my ancestors are from so many different places and many of them met in America, which wouldn't have existed without colonization. We wouldn't have airplanes- no Wright brothers; no computers or televisions, not a lot of things. You can argue they'd have come about eventually, but even if they did it would've taken much longer. And think of what would've happened population-wise, what with England being the size of Florida. It would be quite overpopulated, and the dire predictions of early environmentalists would've come true, with population outpacing food growth. I'm overthinking this a bit, I see. But in any case, European expansion, British (what I focused in here) and otherwise, paved the way for modern civilization as we know it. Was it good to do all the terrible things they did? No. But arguing that they should've stayed where they came from is, in my opinion, as ridiculous as saying the immigrants in America should all go back to where they came from. Just my two cents on the subject. If I offended anyone, please let me know; I didn't mean to, and I'm sorry. Now, how's about some cybercake? This long discussion must be making others hungry too.
  14. Aw, I missed the RP madness. And thus sanity ends, thought Mist, as she stared out over the void. All was silent, save for the rubber ducks. I needed to post something, at least.
  15. I did know about him. I was unaware of his interestingly distinct facial features, however.
  16. Hmph. That's awful. Faith in humanity has been un-restored. Yet again. Still, his landing did pave the way for some good things. Like this country, which I rather like. Though I know you're an anarchist, so you probably don't agree. And I'm still grumpy from those people who believe Thanksgiving celebrates genocide of Native Americans. And now I'm sad again, and I have school tomorrow again, and life isn't being very nice. Life should learn how to be nice.
  17. Why does everyone hate Columbus? I rather like him.
  18. How do you think the Knights Awkward started?
  19. Um. I... I'm afraid I won't really have the skills... (Nice rhyme, though, by the way)
  20. Let's not forget really excellent facial expressions.
  21. And I'll disagree again. We can be motivated to make change without feeling guilty for something we didn't do. We can have consciences without having to feel like we must do penance. I believe most people want to do what they feel is right, and guilt just makes people feel bad about themselves. And that's how this... um... whatever you call me tries to make the world better.
  22. Um, I think this is sorta derailing the thread, because now you're making me sad.
