Edit: Retracted. I done got served by WoB. (That seems to happen a lot)
  3. So is this the thread we compile basically all our knowledge and theory discussion into one, for those too lazy to browse all the individual threads? XD
  4. I haven't read them yet, so I might try a speed-read real quick. I did read a couple chapters in, and I can tell it's a very entertaining series. I recommended my sister to actually start off with reading this to her at nights, she might enjoy it too! (It might improve her taste in reading from Twilight and 50 shades of gray.... blech)
  5. They call me Gambles, the town drunk who's always willing to bet on a game of chance. Edit: Never really done of of these forum type games before, so forgive me if I'm a little slow to the uptake at first.
  6. Just started The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch, Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan, and may take a peak at the Alcatraz series by BS. And I just finished Well of Acension, so I may need to pick up Hero of Ages sometime soon and finish the trilogy off again... Oh and my friend is heavily recommending The Name of The Wind (Kingkiller Chronicles, I believe). So may start that in a week or so.
  7. So I just recently got the Complete Alcatraz book (a hefty 700pgs with all 4 put together) and shall be giving it to my niece in about a week. She is only 8 and still in 3rd grade, technically. But she is a really advanced reader so I think she should be able to handle it. I mean, if I was reading the Harry Potters in 4th grade, she should be okay. Now the real question... do I try reading it before handing it off next week?
  8. lol!
  9. Just picked this up on sale from Kindle, gonna read on my phone in between other books. I saw this was highly recommended as 'Debut of the Year' on Reddit the one time I've browsed that site in a year, lol. So I definitely can't wait to check it out. And crazy he's from Cleveland! I'm from right around that area so I would totally love to try and go to one of his signings, sometime! Edit: Crap! He was right in my town a month ago! I wish I had known about and read him before then, I've never got to meet an actual author before and that would just be so fantastic an experience. Especially as a debut author, I feel like he would be really cool to talk to. I'll catch him next time.
  10. Upvote for Ska/Skaa! I was so happy reading Mistborn, just saying "skaa" repeatedly over and over. Although happy brass music and upstrokes doesn't really fit the mood for a depressed peasant class...
  11. And also I believe Rashek was under instructions to take the power for himself. Only after he took the power did he learn everything, I would assume. Just holding it for that mere second like Vin did didn't give her any knowledge or power, only the ability or take or release that power. She was under the assumption releasing it would be the good thing to do. I believe Rashek was told by Kwaan he musn't let Alendi release the power, so he took it.
  12. That reading was pretty good. I liked it. In writing I could see how you could go with this finger-nail thing. Keep with it. Although I do still heavily recommend reading the Lightbringer series. Just to see what you can do different. Not saying yours is the same at all. There are a few minor similarities though. But it's still a very enjoying read, so I'd recommend it on that alone.
  13. New Steelhunt Codes! I know the forum shouldn't get too many codes, but hey. We only need 10 more til the next unlock. Help us out here...
  14. I hope we eventually get a character in the books that's a Chromium specialist and he is just a BAMF in hand-to-hand contact combat. That'd be pretty cool.
  15. Well dangit. I'll admit it's not thunderclasts blood. (And to be fair, aren't we not allowed to use/discuss WoR reading material yet? Heh.) ((I don't care for the record. I forgot about Dalinar thunderclast reading)) But still. Where in the name of Damnation does the purple blood come from in the Prelude? Edit: Battle Chulls.... that may actually be a logical explanation. lol
  16. Whoa. You're going to 3-D print it, too?! Man. Technology is friggin' awesome.
  17. What about the hands/claws of thunderclasts? The thunderclasts themselves are made out of stone, but I think they're limbs need to be a little bit more flexible than solid rock. And there still needs to be a source for the violet blood in the Prelude. There's no mention of Chasmfiends, so I just assumed the next closest thing, even if they aren't related, I still think they're pretty darn similar.
  18. Just look what you've done, Mr. Sanderson! It must be the greatest pleasure as an author to see threads full of posts dedicated to debating the ethics and nobilities of your characters.
  19. From the prelude. He mentions dead thunderclasts prior to that. And although they're not quite Chasmfiends, I think they're similar enough. I think Thunderclasts bleed purple. Could totally be wrong though. Sanderson is tricky like that.
  20. Good connections and theory! There definitely has to be a connection with the evil glowing red eyes. It's too maniacal to be coincidence. And Pareshendi have orange blood, I believe. And thunderclasts have purple, IIRC?
  21. Yeah, the general over-power archetype. But for more fun I'm trying to base off more their personality or quirks with misting/ferring combinations. Rand would basically be storing Feruchemical electrum the whole series... cause he's a pretty depressed dude. But determined at key times. And my sig just says double electrum because being forced by prophecies... the closest thing I could think of would be seeing Electrum shadows... being influenced by those. Meh. Best I can think of. And (end of book spoilers) And Perrin... Allomantic tin for enhanced senses (wolf powers) Feruchemical pewter to tap strength in his blood-lust battle modes. Why not? edit: Although I could see many parallels between Rand and alendi. Just make the eye of the world the well of acension in a MAG game and give him full allomancy, and a electrum ferring. (I just want him always super storing into that so he's just crazy pissy and depressed like in the books) oh and Ruin is the Dark One, and TLR is Ishmael. totally.
  22. Heavy Wheel of Time spoilers. As title implies. If Wheel of Time Characters were in Mistborn world, what combinations of Misting/Ferring or Compounders would best fit them? My sig obviously already has my answers. But let's discuss this. Mat double Chromium because in the first 2-3 books he does nothing but basically store his Luck. And then he snaps and can start compounding his Luck like a maniac. And Chromium Allomancy would be useful with Mat's close combat style. Is basically his Foxhead Medallion, but he only needs to smack them and they're screwed. At least close enough to the same effect as his medallion. Rand and Matt are still iffy for me. What about you guys? What would you place other characters as?
  23. That would be somewhat ironic. I like it. Can we also have Jack Nicholson as Prof?
  24. Cosmere playlist? Easy. Just play Ska music. Simply anything and everything is made better by the presence of background Ska music. Any Streetlight Manifesto is always appropriate. Reel Big Fish Aquabats Suburban Legends Pain Sublime or Scotty Don't But that's my super personal bias. I just love ska. I don't try to set the mood so much with music, I just like having background noise that makes my foot bop.
  25. I admit defeat! Good points though, you guys. And I don't think we have to worry about Atium or Ruin for a little whiles, anyway. Harmony seems to have things under control.
