Eh. Dragonborn, Mistborn. Close enough. (and yes that music is very epic. Thoroughly enjoyable to whoop on dragons to that tune)

Heh. Not that surprising Adolin and Kaladin won't get along at first (if ever). Although Elokhar takiing a liking to him is interesting. And Dalinar already announcing the KR? Yeah, he's definitely getting a Spren soon. And holy crap! Jasnah and Shallan! Ivory? Definitely want to learn more about him. And the fact that Honor and Cultivation get name dropped like mo'fos. And Odium! Also had a huge grin when it was said Adolin can duel again. I can't wait to read those. He may be spoiled and a little cocky, but I think Kaladin will gain a little respect once he sees him fight.

Well I'm not seeing a "No".... So that has to be a good sign, right?

Yeah... I threw WoK at my friend for his first Sanderson read... it definitely was a bit too much. And looking back I see why. If he had maybe also read WoT it probably wouldn't be as bad, but stepping into the Cosmere like that... whew. I had another friend who had finished WoT and very much enjoyed Sanderson's writing, and he actually read WoK first and enjoyed it a lot. I of course told him to go to Mistborn next. He's not "hooked" per se, but I can tell he genuinely enjoys reading Sanderson books. I mean, who doesn't?

Shallan and Rock! Perfect! Will they be known as Shock? And Shallan becoming the King's new Wit... holy crap! I didn't even think of that possibility. That could very well happen. Although admittedly, my like of Shallan waxes and wanes. I very thoroughly enjoy reading her narrative, always makes me laugh. But then when I reflect back, I just have a bad taste in my mouth, so to say. Just evaluating her overall.... she's kind of rhymes with a witch. She's just so darn full of herself. Yes, she's smart as hell and as quick as a whip. But half the time she's either the frightened shy girl (admittedly moreso in the beginning, not as much at the end) or just goes to the other extreme of overly confident. It just seems she likes to revel in how much smarter she is than everybody else (save Jasnah, of course) But I think her and Adolin would make a potentially great couple. She could balance Adolin out, get him to slow down and appreciate women. And as said before, he does appreciate good wit. But I dunno. This whole idea of 'shipping' characters just seems so... weird to me. I've never really thought too much into the romantic side of characters and their psyches. I've always figured if the author wanted us to see two people together, they'll write it up for us. I mean, who else knows these characters better than the authors?

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Gamma Fiend replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well it's night so we're automatically going to lose one person. Our only hope is if the Coinshot hits a Spiked or not tonight. (No pressure, or anything) Edit - Was not suggesting the coinshot should stay his hand or anything like that. Sorry if my words were a bit confusing. I was just pressuring the Coinshot into making a good choice tonight. (It was supposed to be a little humorous - there's really no way to guarantee any sort of accuracy since he's pretty much taking a shot in the dark.) But our only hope is to Coinshoot a spiked tonight, and that'll pretty much just come down to luck at this point.- 462 replies

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Gamma Fiend replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Gambles was sitting alone, fidgeting with his dice. Rolling them over and over again. Thinking. "We've been wrong about everything this entire time," He said aloud, to nobody in particular. He was drunk and just rambling off at the mouth at whatever thoughts came to mind. "Every time we reach a decision, we end up being dead wrong, killing innocents. The Spiked have been toying and messing with our emotions this entire time." He was in a full rant now. "We've been subtly persuaded and tricked into making these decisions this entire time." He stopped and took a sip from his bottle, and was distracted by Aether, the town scholar, strolling over and hammering up more lists. Him and those damned lists! Gambles thought furiously, Of course! It's perfect! Gambles stood up quickly, turning his chair over and drawing everybody's eyes to him. "These Spiked have been tricking us this entire time! We've been wrong about EVERYTHING!" He shouted the last word, anger starting to take ahold of him. "Who among us has avoided the most suspicion? Who have we trusted the MOST?" He paused and looked around. And then pointed at Aether "Aether," Gambles spat, "Aether and his lists. Aether the friendly scholar, who nobody seems to suspect. Earning our trust, taking our votes. Calling everybody's attention to his damned lists! Don't you see? That's how the spiked have been keeping track of us this WHOLE time! They've been flaunting it in our faces the entire time! Secretly laughing behind our backs, tracking our progress of killing the innocents and plotting our murders at night. "It's Aether, I tell you!" OOC: Why vote for Aether? Why the heck not? Its been pretty odd that Aether has never been suspected. Him and his lists have been a pretty good cover up. And it seems this game is all but lost anyway at this point, might as well have some fun and hang the scholar! Edit: Changed my vote from Aether. (although those lists are still pretty shady)- 462 replies

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Gamma Fiend replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well I rescind my 'Coinshot is a Spiked' theory on account of not reading correctly and being owned by Meta. My B. I guess Dyring could still technically be a spiked then still. Or Coinshot has just had horrible luck with targets. Either way, I vote Beetle Edit: Removing my vote until we get closer to the deadline and things become more clear. Right now we're still just guessing. Also, how long do we have in this cycle still?- 462 replies

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Gamma Fiend replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Gambles stumbled into the bar. He had heard about the events of the night before. Our lurcher dead and our Pewterarm injured. Smokers dead, Tineye is dead. Seeker is dead. What more can we do? How can any of us regular people fight back? "What's more," he said aloud, "Is our Mistborn is sure as rust as evil as the rest of 'em! If not the ringleader! And I do believe our Coinshot is one of them, too!" My OOC logic on why the Coinshot is Spiked. The attack on dyring wasn't a spiked attack, and just regular coinshot. But the coinshot attacked the lurcher before, and we now know he was a villager. So that's at least 2 non-spiked people attacked by the coinshot (I know theres a possibility of the first attack being Mistborn, but I just don't think so). I know there were a few people who wanted Beetle to stay alive for the night to Seek malil, but I just think if the Coinshot were on our side he would have taken a shot at him.- 462 replies

So, if Beetle didn't seek Malil last night and guesses what he is, I'm voting for him to be killed. We really need a lead on the spiked. And fantastic write up, Meta! This has been a lot of fun! Edit: That sure is a bastard, not being able to have our lurcher protect Dyring next night cycle.- 462 replies

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Gamma Fiend replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
As someone else mentioned, the whole gambit on Bartbug seeking would only work on absolutely trusted people. No offense, Malil. Its just we all see how well taking somebodys word on his 'seeking accuracy' went before (Sorry, again, Edgar) I just still don't believe we have two seekers. (Unless Meta was being really nice to us, and we just kind of screwed that whole thing up) The only villager I would trust at this point would be a thug, if they were attacked by spiked and survived. But we don't even know the alignments of any of the roles yet either. So this is one hell of a pickle. But the whole Beetle/Malil thing will be tricky to pull off. Because Malil might become a night target by the Spiked if Beetle is one of them, to protect him. And we'd also need to make sure the coinshot doesn't target Beetle, and maybe lurcher protect Malil. And that's just too much to line up. And as I type it, this sounds like a Spiked argument trying to defend the Spiked identities of Malil and Beetle... so I'll shut up now. This game is frustrating on the mind. Edit: We should bank on the Coinshot getting rid of Beetle at this point. The longer he's alive, the more spiked there are roaming around. Gun 'im down, boys. Edit 2: Yeah, I agree. That Elantris-Oath is pretty darn convincing. (Although that's what a Spiked would want us to think!)- 462 replies

I think we should actually avoid trying to discuss and figure out the remaining unknown roles. At least until night time is over, don't want to give the Spiked any higher priority targets.- 462 replies

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Gamma Fiend replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'd like to point out that I didn't just follow a gut feeling. Two people claimed to be seekers. One gave us info that was already well known. The other said, fairly confidently, that I was in fact a regular villager, information that wasn't known. I said in the post I was taking a gamble, but with the given information I believed Beetle was the real seeker. Regardless of the odds, he guess correctly. He knew I wasn't spiked, obviously. But there was still a chance I could have had a roll. I never tried to rally people's votes or change public opinion, I just verified Beetle's guess and said why I believed him. Also, if anybody else looks, you can see my comments leading up to the vote, voicing my concerns and suspicions about being duped, but a vote change at that point would have been even more suspicious, IMO. I totally understand why you guys would suspect me, though. I would, too.- 462 replies

Well it looks like I'm pretty screwed here. I doubt there's any argument in my defense I can make on my behalf. I'll agree to enter into a vote pact, giving my next vote away to public sway - even if it's for me. Nothing like one last desperate gamble, eh?- 462 replies

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Gamma Fiend replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Gambles had hit all time lows before, He had struck out and lost big countless times. He couldn't remember all of the empty purses, broken bottles, soiled clothes, and black-out nights he's had. But he knew deep down he never lost a gamble this big. This was rock bottom for him. He was laying in a puddle of his own urine, too drunk to stand or form coherent sentences, "Bu-b-but, I thought for s-sure!" He looked around desperately at the other villagers. He knew they blamed and suspected him now. Why wouldn't they? He had made the wrong bet. Edit: Welllll. Pooop. Sorry 'bout that guys. I thought for sure Beetle was telling the truth. I mean, there are some slim chances he's not. But he'll have to seek somebody tonight and call them out correctly if he wants to live. I can totally understand you guys suspecting me now, though. I want to say that I'm NOT spiked, just a regular villager still who made a bad call. But, obviously if I were you I wouldn't believe me either. Also, what are the rules of PMs? What can we say/reveal and not reveal?- 462 replies

Oh man. There are a lot of stakes riding on my gamble. What's a better thrill than risking life? *Now that Gambles ceremoniously sobered up earlier, he is hitting the booze with a vengeance.* "If we're gonna behead a man again, even if he's spiked or not, I wanna be black-out drunk! Who wants to bet I can't finish this bottle in one chug?!" Gotta love a man who stays in character though, right?- 462 replies

Selfish Post - Need Personal Recommendation
Gamma Fiend replied to Bloodfalcon's topic in Entertainment Discussion
These three recommendations right here. Enjoyed all of these. Also, Joe Abercrombie books, the First Law Trilogy and subsequent standalones in the same world, good stuff. (Or at least I liked it) Also, I hear there's this guy... Brandon Sanderson. Some of his stuff if pretty out there... but I hear he's pretty good..... -

I don't know about switching my vote or teaming up with people yet. I still feel it's either beetle or edgar that will be the best leads. It seems everybody is going for Beetle, and I understand why, so I won't do anything to try and stop that or change their minds besides any earlier posts I've made. I have no other honest suspicions at the moment. So I will stay the course.- 462 replies

Nothing personal going into this... but I just had a thought. What if we all vote to kill of Meta? (The Game Host). As I said, nothing personal. But as a Gambler, I like to cheat. And the best way to beat the game is to beat who created it. XD (Completely not serious though.) It looks like things are still leaning towards Beetle. I'll keep my vote for Edgar even if the swing goes the other way. As long as Beetle or Edgar get voted out today we'll know something for sure tomorrow.- 462 replies

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Gamma Fiend replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Not true. I could have been a thug, coinshot, or lurcher. or Mistborn even, I don't think it's verified that he's a spiked or not. So even if he was a spiked, it was still a gamble to call me just a regular villager. I could easily have refuted it and claimed to be otherwise if I in fact was. So I guess in essence, even if he is a spiked, I guess I will reward him for a successful gamble. What can I say, it's in my characters nature. XD But I don't think he is a spiked.- 462 replies
